Stephen and I wrote this song 30 years ago. I wrote the music Stephen wrote the lyrics. I was 19 years old. I can't believe that much time has passed. Recorded in Ms. O'Neil's Garage. Jake, Warren and I lived in Van Nuys on Gerald St. a couple of blocks west of Havenhurst, one block N of Victory. Warren wasn't in the band yet. He would later replace Jake.
We were definitely rockers and didn't wear any outlandish costumes. Common stage clothes would be jeans, boots and a cut up t-shirt. We opened for Motley Crue a few times at the Troubadour, Whiskey, Country Club, etc., and they were wearing makeup and girl's stiletto heel boots, etc. The was late 1981, before any of the local L.A. bands like Motley, Great White, Quiet Riot, and Wasp had record deals. Brings back some great memories. :-) Never Use Love was my favorite song - Bob DeLellis
I was just referring to their Cellar/Privacy era in that they were wearing clothes that weren't the most casual looking.
I suppose for Dancing Undercover, you could say they were casual in a fashionable sort of way.
To be honest, I've always seen RATT as being no less metal than Priest and Maiden, just with a different style.
I'm a huge fan of RATT. I think the EP is a groundbreaking record which, among other things, foreshadowed the groove metal sound Pantera became famous for.
I talked to Steven a few months ago about the In Your Direction album. Dave, Matt and I have re-connected, and we'll be doing some business together & hopefully, play some gigs. There's a cool pic on my MySpace (see URL above or Google Bob DeLellis) of Matt & me at Radio City in Orange County when we opened for Motley Crue, There's also a review on the pics page from the December 1981 issue of The New Heavy Metal Revue that talks about RATT. I was quite pleased with the review. :-)

It's songs like this which prove that Ratt were not a glam metal band even if they did wear outlandish clothes.
