i copyed thatWell noThe Fluval still does a excellent job its a bit easier to set up and it does a slightly better job at mechanical filtration and and here is the big kicker T IS ABOUT HALF THE PRICEOFTHE EHEIM So while the Eheim is clearly the better filter here I cannot honestly
CONCLUSION A matter of price the clear winner in the performance stakes the decision is not clear cut. The Eheim is the better biological performer and has a better % flowrate when full. Its a lot quieter and holds a lot more media and uses less power then the Fluval. So its a no brainer to the Eheim on most areas right?
I have a fx5 and i love everything about it. I just cleaned it today for the first time and it was painless and very user friendly. I have a marineland canister also and it doesnt compare.
@bm20197 im thinking of geting this i see you like it a lot ,i have a 180l tank with big fish i want to move forward, ie have less work to do ha ha,,do you still rate this also do the sponges come with it,also is the water totaly clean please let me know about that thanks
@TheSighthound umm yes I rate it. its great. the sponges do come with it. the water is always clean yes, i now use it on a 180 gallon tank and its still clean with even more fish. i clean it every 2 weeks - 1 month.
@TheSighthound I cant say enough about the fx5. Its the best. The sponges come with it but not any media. As far as the water being clean, just look at my 75 Gal heavy stocked Cichlid tank. And thats with No chemicals.
@dannysoogens oh yeah i know what you mean, ive got mine under my new tank now and the valves up inbetween two beams of wood so i have to like twist my wrist to get to the valves and then turn them. If your having excessive problems you could try having a look / cleaning them.
@TheCoolPickles It's just an absolute nightmare bud, my dad helped me set it up 4 month ago but need to be able to do it without help. You see the video and the guy turns them like a dial lol. My nitrates started to rise and hang around 10 when they are normally 0 all the time. Even a 50% change on fri and a 30% ysterday didn't low em so thats why i needed to get in the filter.
OH WELL I GOT A FLUVAL 305 EASY TO SET UP, JUST WAITIN FOR SOME WATER TO HEAT SO I CAN REPLACE WHAT THE YOKE NEEDS , AND HOPEFULY ITS OK

Do you turn them towards the pump or away from ? Both ways seem equally as stiff lol.
