@ozzk77 yeah thats something i found about it as well... remember mine is an old one and they may have added a power button somewhere inside the OS but in the one I had you had to turn it off using your computers power button.
@ironwolf4555 Well I used to have another song but that had some copyright thingy for it so I changed it using audioswap and its now 'Gator Drive by Nigel Glockler and Roger Adams.
@neilcwright It's got the web browser which can of course run flash but other than that no support for mac apps, linux apps or windows ones that run on it... although there has been a rumour going around about chromoting or chromating or something that lets you run mac and windows apps on your chrome os computer but i doubt it will actually happen... so yeah essentially just the browser and thats it.... well apps in the form of links into a browser.
@LetsBeRandom1 I agree, I'm excited for it... hopefully coming in the next few weeks. But I think they're just using this to test how receptive people are to the idea and to get a broad view of what people are really thinking before they create a full-on OS for desktops to beat out microsoft

I know a lot of people have put a lot of time, money, effort and energy into making this work but, honesty, couldn't they have just added the application functionality to the chrome browser?
I mean if there's something more to this that I'm not seeing someone please tell me but it looks like they just made a web based system that you boot into where all of the cool websites are on one page. Google docs, pandora, facebook, etc. How complicated could that have been?

Sure its great and all that it boots in 3 seconds and boots down in less than that and runs on lower power and all but yeah I agree.

I'm not upset with a browser based OS, I was just expecting a lot more from google in an age of cloud computing, ever increasing bandwidth, and low cost storage solutions. I wanted to see an online desktop with a virtual storage drive, or icons that looked like office linked to a google docs interface, just something that wasn't so...lame.
@EnglishNate But one of the things that Chrome will be good for is price... when you get a netbook with Windows on it Microsoft make you pay a tax for the OS because it isnt opensource... Chrome on the other hand is opensource so you will be able to get it on a netbook for really cheap... I totally agree with you bout the whole its only a browser thing but I think that for something that cheap it may be worth getting just as a portable for the internet.

I was running it on Parallels 6 on my mac and because you cannot shut down chrome from within the operating system (need to use the computers button and that would've turned off my computer) and I wanted to show how fast it boots down so i took it out of full screen mode and put it into a windowed mode so that I could shut it down.
@mman360 I have parallels 6 for mac and as a part of that you can download Chrome OS and it will boot it as a virtual machine... I think you might be able to use virtual box if you are on windows but other than that I can't help you sorry

How super disappointing.
