@MattA7XRev No real tips.. just work step by step, don't try to make the whole melody at once, or all of the chords at once, rather try do it in small pieces, testing different chords over small pieces of melody. You don't have to know what will happen next, try to make a small part sound good first, then start to worry about the next small part

What effects are you using, super shifter? You'll go far with a career in music. Just don't associate yourself with guitar hero(i love the game) like dragonforce did(you have same style), and you'll be fine.

But it's all I ever need to record. Plus a PC of course. Cockos Reaper is free, it's great, almost as good as expensive pro DAWs...

Thanks heaps bro! I love the drum sounds too, they are from the new Toontrack Metal Foundry expansion for Superior Drummer 2.0. Metal Foundry really kicks butt, you can get Pantera sounds, Maiden sounds, old Metallica type of sounds, Devin Townsend sounds, Meshuggah sounds, whatever you can think of. And yeah, the rhythm guitar sound is pretty harsh for power metal, thrash metal is closer.. I wanted to make it a bit more aggressive.
