  • Outstanding in every way, RIP Arthur...

  • For some reason many years ago I decided I would not like this band. Probably the artwork on the album cover or something daft like that which put me off them. Never heard anything by them until yesterday. After a recommendation from a friend I jumped in and thought I'd give them a brief listen before going back and telling him how I had been right all along. How wrong I was! What a band, what a song, what a performer. Now I have to go and tell him that I have a new favourite song.

  • pure magic

  • wonderful! great backing band!!

  • I have been in love with this song and Arthur Lee and Love's music since I was 15, in the spring of 1971. For me,Between Clark and Hilldale is the peak of 20th century artistic culture. Thanks for posting.

  • this reminds me of dave matthews band, another lovely live band. tell me if you can't feel it - the soft chill down your spine.

  • he died in 2006--he continued touring after this and appeared on the Jools Holland show in London

  • The best track from FOREVER CHANGES -- here, Arthur's voice is shot.... they got him on stage for this a few months before his passing in 2002 (leukemia) --- DAMN, it still sounds GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Forever changes is the best psychedelic album I've heard... And I've heard a LOT of them

  • this is the song for my girlfriend an my, whe in hear this song i cry, and i smile, thanls love for all, for fucking all

  • a timely and timeless sound. sorry I missed it back in the day, but I was a

mere child--too bad, it's the kind of thing children need to hear

  • Deeply annoyed that I never got to see Arthur Lee live. This album is untouchable.

  • Who did the horn arrangements on this album? They are absolutely brilliant. I mean, 1:49 enough said

  • Listened to Forever Changes today and watched the Love Story video, which is a great documentary. This song is a masterpiece. Defintately should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • Not many tunes I've heard this many times still fill me with the same feelings as the first time I heard them. Beautiful beautiful beautiful music.

  • amazing !!!!!!!!!

  • I always come back to his music...I might go away for a while but every time I return I'm reminded how great he was...It always hits me like it did the first time I heard it.

  • This tour was a joy. I went with my old hippie ma to Glasgow Barrowlands for her birthday.

Best gig I ever saw. Bar none.

What a legacy to leave. Bless you Arthur. <3

  • I love Arthur and Love, but sorry, this sounds like a Vegas showtune version of an incredible gnarly Lee original.

  • Amazing.

    Thanks

  • I remember Luke, who was okay with "current" stuff. My favorites were Michael Tearson (the only host to play "August" from "FOUR SAIL), now delegated to two hours on Saturday mornings on WMGK; & Nick Spitzer, who now hosts the public radio show "American Routes" (great production). Nick and Michael's blending of the traditional/old, with new artists was golden. "Alone Again, Or" segued well with "Guinevere". but you were lucky to hear such mixing.

  • the 60's were magical times and these young musicians do a fantastic job reproducing with probably lee's conducting and teaching them. The music probably at one time or more was listened by sinatra, sammy davis jerry lewis and the rest of the hollywood scene....and they were amazed at the beauty of it....cause it can bring tears of joy to listeners....it does me!

  • This amazing song is at the top of my list. How "HIP" radio missed Arthur's musical genius is the saddest of contemporary music realities. Whether it was Lee's dislike of touring, or his aloof demeanor which upset industry folk, NOTHING justified the hidden "hip" radio black-listing of the orchestral masterpiece of Forever Changes or the guitar quartet follow-up "Four Sail". With the exception of WMMR, Philly, WMMS, Cleveland and LA radio, this music was not heard.

  • @radiopete do you remember luke o'reilly??? came to wmmr twice on visa for about 6 months each back in the day..

  • man this concert is so amazing. instead of some moog or voxx trying to play strings or brass they have an entire orchasta backing them up.. but he seems to be running it clean and not using a reverb type effect to make his voice sound richer. I know thats old technology but he's not using Autotune like these new bands use.

  • great album !!

  • I bought it several times and most I did not open. Hoping it will be a collectors item someday. Best Album cover ever. Never obsolete then you go cross the street yeah

  • Is it me, or is this better than the original album version?! Cool song.

  • Heard that Arthur could play every instrument on Forever .. and used to show band-mates how he wanted it done. I bought 3 of these for 3 friends but you know they didn't listen so I just got out my little red book and crossed their names ..

Out of here and painted them

grey yeah Obsolete yeah And so the friendships ended Do you know it oh so well?

Well should you need I'll tell you

    The end-end-end-end-end-end-end-end

(Oh the snot had caked against their pants)

  • Thank you for uploading this video! I went to your blog but could not figure out how to email you.

  • Arthur's voice though not his health held up very well over the years.

  • its sad there is no footage of the original Love line-up playing this song. Its my all times favourite, call it flower-power or psychedelia, this is a masterpiece beyond time.

  • there is something about forever changes that is enigmatic. like a good recipe they only seemed to work when all the right ingredients were present. and what a recipe it was. they cooked. in my top 5 albums of all time.

  • I cant believe they don't get the credit they deserve

  • Arthur Lee's up there with my favourite performers of all time - this is my favourite from Forever Changes, the one I always come back to time and time again. Didn't find love (the band) till the '1980's been in Love ever since. Thank you from the UK

  • What better lyric could Arthur Leave his fans with than "When I Leave now don't you weep for me I'll be back just save a seat for me" We are saving your seat Arthur. Don't be gone too long.

  • Another great song on YouTube.

I went to this show ,,, and saw Arthur live many many times. Hey, he even hugged me and call me "Sir" when I thanked him for 40 years of amazing music after his Gilfest gig. A legend and true genius.

  • "Forever Changes" - a perfect album. Every track brilliant. I fell in love with this in 1967 and I still listen to something from it every week. My band still plays "A House Is Not A Motel"! Thanks for this.

  • have loved it since 1967.....one of the great tracks...

  • great album

  • Great track from the best record of all time, Forever Changes.

No one can say anything bad about this song. Oh Yeah

Cause if they do they will end up..

Wrong and banished to the other side of the.. Tracks across your back

Can we ever get Arthur Lee and Love in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame?

Shame as we have Dave Clark Five and the Hand jive there.

    Back again

  • I went to this show at the birchmere

I have been to hundreds of concerts and this one was one of the best shows ever staged, legend come to life and there in front of you against all odds

  • YOU LUCKY GOOD JAMMY BASTARD!!!

  • Something I think is odd... Memphis is proud of its musical heritage. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tina Turner, etc are the 1st bands/musicians that come to mind.

I didn't know until after he died... that Arthur Lee was a native Memphian, and was living there when he died.

I doubt many Memphians even know who he is.

But he is an unsung hero, and he deserves to have some kind of marker for him, in Memphis music history.

    RIP Arthur Lee

  • We know who he was- he made some kick ass music and thats what Im here for. Hes got his markers everywhere.

  • this song makes me skate haha wakes me up too

  • me too man since i heard it years ago on the dvs skate more video makes me grab that deck ahahaha

  • I had no clue about them during their earlier days but since I have i am totally a fan of Lee and co. And the performances at this particular concert are just... like... well... there are just no words!

  • One of my favorite songs by LOVE, but then there are so many of them---LOVE is by far my favorite group. It's too bad that they didn't get the full recognition that they deserved. Part of that was`that Arthur Lee didn't want to do much touring outside of LA back in the late 60s. By the way, the title "Between Clark and Hilldale" came from the fact that the Whisky-a-Go-Go is located between those two streets on the Sunset Strip, and they used to play there a lot in the 60s.

  • Maybe the finest song of the "genius" 1967 album, "Forever Changes". RIP Arthur Lee.

  • I have been in love with this song since it first grabbed me back when I was 16 in June 1971. Perhaps one of the finest moments of music in western civlilization. Lyrics and vocals are perfect. Mike Randle's solo nails it.

  • love this track it makes me feel so happy, thanks

  • Hail To the Great Arthur Lee and LOVE. Much respect and gratitude to Johnny Echols and Baby Lemonade for carrying on the Torch ! Thanks for posting this beautiful video.

  • That must be the most hilarious comment ever posted in connection with Arthur Lee's music. :)))))

  • Forever Changes is in my top 25 CDs .. so many beautiful songs and this is one of his best.

  • dude. top 25 is almost an insult to them. at the moment it is my absolut favorited

  • It was my favorite for years and probably top 25 is an insult to a perfect CD. But who even knows Loves - I have played it for dozens and nobody seems to like it. And I still cry myself to sleep that Arthur Lee missed a solo show in the 90s where I had great seats. . Hills is a great song and it's nice to see people giving them a lot of raves that they should have had in 1966,67.

  • Forever Changes is one of the best albums ever...R.I.P. Arthur Lee

  • I think this is becoming my favourite song of all time...

  • I think this is my favorite song on the album - but it's hard to choose between them.

  • i am still pissed off that i missed their concerts in utrecht and amsterdam a couple of years ago. i booked a vacation and later i found out that arthur lee was doing some gigs in holland (also some gigs unplugged in recordsstores) while i was on vacation.....

  • Αυτο το κομματι κομματιαζει κομματια.

    υ.σ Ειμαι ενας κόμματος τωρα?

  • Thanks for posting! Great vid. Do you have any more from this show? Baby Lemonade is a super band. Also, great to see Arthur without sunglasses.

  • Perhaps the most underrated person in rock and roll history. He is one of just a handfull that truly deserve the title genius.

  • I'm convinced that Arthur's and Love's (and Baby Lemonade's) legacies are only going to become stronger through the years. This clip is evidence of some reasons why.

  • Nice! Mr. Lee seems so calm and singing with an incredible swing. I hope that he is in peace with many others fantastics musicians in Heaven. Congratulations!

  • JUST FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • superb. ever rock fan must listen to Forever Changes

  • Download? DOWNLOAD??? Buy it! Music like this is not a commodity, it is life!

Or else, iTunes could have it...

  • Why not buy the album instead?

  • Already bought it several times.

  • Fantastic!!! what a performance, the whole band, brill.

  • Awesome Song! Legendary songwriter!

  • maybe they are only for the special conniseurs of music like ourselves! jim morrison loved them too!

  • this is probably my favourite tune of all time! by the greatest singer/songwriter of all time! cant believe how criminally unnoticed arthur and brian mcClean are!

  • well, what else can i do but agree whole-heartedly with your words and thank you for your comment...

  • @shaneshaky1

    absolutely

  • @shaneshaky1 i was absolutely stunned when my then girl friend 1st played Forever Changes for me back in 1968. I found this concert on Netflix and played it for my gal, my now wife, just last week, 40 some odd years later. Once again I was stunned, just blown away by his genius. So much I can not get this particular tune out of my head a week later. Arthur Lee = pure genius like Iz, Janice and Jimmy. Mahalos!!
