Yagov! This is great, especially since you're demonstrating something very important -- the game of the year (and a very demanding one at that) running on netbooks.
BUT, keep in mind a few things for increased performance:
- Catalyst 12.3 drivers
- Disable Aero while running
- Skyboost and/or 1.4 patch (update 5)
- Perflock CPU at 1.33GHz (p0 mode lock)
- Don't use any other programs/tools/monitors while playing
- Use tweaked .ini to set options lower than in the dialog
Yes, I have the Acer Iconia TAB W500 with Fusion C-60. With modded BIOS, you can disable AMD Cool'n'Quiet and BrazerosTweaker to lock to p0 (1.33GHz).
With version 1.4 and "Low" settings (minus "Reflect sky"), turn composition/themes off to play at 800x600 (make sure to check "show all resolutions"). It's even smoother if you turn "textures" to low and reduce item fade distance. Catalyst 12.3 "performance"preset.
It plays a lot smoother than in your video now -- try it! :)
Do you recommend any way to update all the drivers for the graphics card and what else i need to update for this laptop? I'm planning on buying one like this it's the AO722-0828
how do I update this laptop to a c-60? (got a acer AO 522 myself) I've updated the bios to 1.12 and installed the latest amd driver for c-50 , but both WEI and cpu-z shows me that I'm still using a c-50 , any idea?
@herbetheperve1337 this utilities could determine CPU name with just reading CPU ID. It stays the same after updating. Possibly real CPU and GPU clocks have changed. Check Brazos Tweak utility, it shows real APU clocks. And try to compare Windows Benchmark score. CPU score for C-50 should be 2.8 and C-60 3.2.
I have this Acer Aspire One 522 series laptop, with the same processor as you "AMD Dual-Core C50-1 GHz", but i have 4GB DDR3 ram instead of one, but my Skyrim game lags like hell and heaven, i dont understand why, since you seem to be playing it "without too much hassle".
Internal capture card.. is there a way to record like that without the need of a pc/ with an external? Avermedia has an external capture card and there's an adapter somewhere that is hdmi to component. Would that work?
How exactly are you recording with the AverMedia? Can you explain how you have everything set up? The only thing in my mind that seems correct is that the capture card doesn't hurt performance because it isn't using the netbooks processor.
@RandomPinoy09 I have my main PC (Core i5 2500K + AverMedia Capture Card). I connect this netbook via HDMI cable to this capture card. Then with Aver software I perform record. That is why it does not hurt performance.
@ohnezahn1997 I have not bought it yet. And all versions from internet had different problems with crack. This game has same engine as SS:HD, which I could play.
do you think i could run skyrim on my acer aspire one d257? it has a 1.66 ghz processor and comes with 1gb ram (ddr3 memory) but it can be upgraded to 2 gb.
gettting acer 522 with c-50 and yours is c-60 my question is do you overclock it to 1.33ghz (i dont know of it automatically clocks when needed no very good with pc when it comes to processors) when yo play games?
Hey, could you give me some tips to optimize gameplay on my AO522 with the AMD-C60 processor and ATI Radeon HD 6290 graphics?
Skyrim is barely playable for me. I think my processor and ram are the biggest bottlenecks. What I need would be an overclock and a ram upgrade, the latter I;m going to do at the end of the month.
@lceus I think no chance to play Skyrim on this netbook. I already have 4gb of RAM, and there is no overclocking available. I have tried to edit config file, but using lowest settings in option menu gives the same result. My advise: Play another game or change netbook.
@killla1234456 No, this netbook is using stock HDD. SSD will only improve loading times. The weak point of all system is slow CPU. Anyway SSD could dramatically improve system responsiveness at every programm. I have SSD on my main PC, and I will never return to HDD anymore.
@killla1234456 What kind of graphical programs? I am planing to do video with photoshop running and may be some other graphical editors. If you want to see something specific then name this program. E-350/450 has 1.5 times faster CPU. To most graphical editors CPU is more important than GPU. I have used Adobe Lightroom for editing some jpg ~5mpx photos. It was painful, but possible.
I'm downloading league now but I have a different one I thinkk BC I recently erecoverd it nd bf it played with 6 fps hopefully I will have a lot more now :)
@BiteThatBullet Which Netbook Would you recommend? I have asus n10j-a1 right now and it is running many many games which met my needs. I just need something performance is about the same or higher with higher resolution since mine is 1024x600. The game that I am currently testing is Dota 2,Minecraft,Terraria. Those 3 are the ones i play the most. Other than that i just watch movies and music or youtubes. Thanks.
I wouldn't recommend a netbook at all, however in your circumstance, I would recommend either keeping your asus n10j-a1 or getting an Acer Aspire One AO722-0473 11.6-Inch HD Netbook (Espresso Black). The games that you play are hardly processor consuming and watching videos / playing music aren't processor intensive either. Good luck!
oh yea forgot to mention resolution has to be changed manually in the config file /My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini. dont remember the name but just search for the number 800 or 600 in the config file and you'll find the variables
@Pikachu8119 Меня очень разочаровала эта игра. Я возлагал большие надежды на крайтерионов, а они мне словно в душу наплевали этой игрой. Не хочу даже ставить больше это.

@ContentFortification
Is this your personal experience?
Have you tried to do the same?
How can you lock clock of CPU at 1.33ghz?
I have played Skyrim without background programs and it was almost the same.
ini edition and some patches could help. When this video been made there were no such things.
My opinion is not to play such wonderful epic games on this netbook! Wait some time and get to your gaming PC to have joy.

@Yagov83 Whats a good program and/or something else to update the drivers, Sometimes it takes like 20 minutes to find the correct drivers.

@sqeker09 I am using russian Acer Aspire One fans site to find correct one. Try to find some forums.
I hope soon AMD/ATI would update their download page.

@MrQelroy I do not know. May be in this game performance suffer more because of GPU, which a bit differ in c-50 and c-60

RandomPinoy09 1 month ago
@RandomPinoy09 if you want to record without performance hit, then you would need another capturing device (i.e. another notebook+ext.TV tuner).
You can not use the same machine with plugged tv tuner, because coding is made with powers of CPU (in most of TV tuners).

@takonx C-60 automatically overclocks. Using brazostweaker you can keep it at 1.33ghz per core. C-50 won't.

@takonx c-60 is using TurboCore. It automatically overclocks CPU to 1.33, but only when GPU does not used. In games CPU works on 1ghz

i see a ton of performance affecting probs here:
-software running in the background, weak cpu
-running windowed, with aero on. use fullscreen and if you want to windowed use aerofoil to kill aero and fall to basic first
-turn res down to 800x480, widescreen res looks better on widescreen monitor and is less pixels to process
-make a shortcut direct to TESV.exe, in the target line of shortcut properties after the end quote put "+fullproc +highprio" (without quotes)
appreciate the vid :)

@peppedaman Before making this video I have tried to run it fullscreen with small resolution and no background programs. No difference.
