@theMadH8r well actually in the 11th round lyle was winning on all three judges scorecadrs but then ali stated throwing combinations as you could see in this video and the referee stopped the fight but until then lyle was winning
Whoever put this video on did an extraordinary job. This was a great video! Thank you for taking the time to edit this perfectly. My hats off to you manyfold. maurice
Teddy Atlas said that Muhammad Ali was one of the most underated punchers of all time. He is the only man to KO Oscar Bonovena, and that was in the 15th round !
Man if u watch the whole fight, Ron Lyle Outboxed him the ENTIRE fight until the Ali landed that combination and the Ref Stopped it. Lyle was ahead on all the judges scorecards going into this round.
@big323ballin ha, hahaha, hahahahaa, thats funny, ali was messing with Lyle the entire time, not to mention Lyle only landed a couple solid hits, ali blocked most of it and landed fast snapped counters, he loves to counter right over the jab. Lyle NEVER out boxed ali, ali played him from the get go and it ended in a his 49th win and 34th KO. Ron Lyle was nowhere near the greatest of boxers.
Up until that round it was an even fight but Ali caught him with a big shot and Lyle crumbled. Don't know why he was complaining about the stoppage, the man couldn't defend himself! Good call from the ref, and a good win for Ali
Joe Bugner fought both Lyle and Shavers. He said Lyle was the most damaging puncher he ever faced. He said Lyle literally nearly killed him.
George Foreman said that Lyle was the best puncher he faced in his career.
Ali handles Lyle with ease, and stops him with ease. Shavers and Foreman both visited the canvass against Lyle. This was Lyle's first loss by stoppage. Ali also handed out first time KO losses to Liston, Foreman, Bonavena, Wepner.
@lumpagogo Stumbling forward, falling back, not even setting up to fire back at all for the entire clip, & yes, getting hit quite often, besides all the blocked shots. I call that hurt. Fighters don't come back from a round like this, they get hurt. Fight was correctly stopped.
Look at Lyle's head when Muhammad Ali really starts hitting him. Ali could be mean like Tyson or anyone in history. He was Just showing mercy where other guys wouldnt.
Yeah dude, i saw a guy sparring with tyson who had ali's exact fighting style but he was much much slower and kinda suckish. and he knocked tyson down in about 1 minute into the sparring match.
(the videos here on youtube)
tyson wouldn't be able to catch ali.
And he'd be falling all over the place from the jabs he'd be receiving.
Video name: "Mike Tyson sparring Tyson was downed.down"
@shiryet It's old news. And the guy you said was suckish was Greg Page and he was a pretty good heavyweight in his day. Tyson wasn't hurt by the shot, just caught off balance. But that's the beauty of the sport. Yes, Ali would have beaten Tyson in my opinion. But no need to say Greg Page sucked.
@bandit9874 Almost? lol if you ask me todays boxers are ALL SUCKISH compared to Muhammad Ali in his prime time, Ali was something special with the greatest style ever. LEGEND
@alienwarelaptop100 Well I definitely wasn't talking about today's fighters. There's a few out there that would give Ali trouble, even prime against prime. None of them however come from today's crop of fat bodies.
Oh I see your a patriot. Well at the end of the Vietnam War come to find out we wasn't suppose to be there anyway. All those young men and women in Arlington would be alive today.

Prime to prime. I agree only because Ali had that chin. Listen, it's only in the last year I have come to hold Louis in such high regard. As Joe himself said u can run but you can't hide and Louis could punch..but Ali 66 67? I just can't accept that ANYONE could beat him not even the GREAT Joe Louis. The greatest isn't just a tag. As a HW I have seen none better....not in his prime.Ali=G.O.A.T.
@smoekdacheeb Sugar Ray was a welterweight my God are we talking about heavyweight here. I agree that pound for pound Sugar Ray was the best of all the fighters but he was at best a middleweight. My God! How does Sugar get discussed here
@smoekdacheeb Boxing film archivist, the late Jim Jacobs, used to put strobe-time fighters frame-by-frame. Ali timed-out as -faster- than Robinson. Add a 4" height advantage, 8" reach advantage, & 50 lb weight advantage, to say nothing about the pre-fight mind-games Ali'd play on a much smaller man. Ouch!
@theonlysaltspring look at tyson from 86 to 88 tho its the same with him but that dont mean hes unstoppable just means he dominated them years i think prime holmes wood give both of them a good fight
@lee1990lee The difference is that Muhammad Ali dominated in an era where the Greatest Heavy-Weights were fighting. The boxers in Ali's era are all within the top 20 at least. Liston, Foreman, Frazier, etc.
@JcLeopard he beat liston ye but liston wasnt agzacly young any more and most ifghters of that era wood have retired around the age he fought ali if not be4 also yes ali beat frazier but frazier took alis 0 witch was the best win of the 3 and then ali beat frazier after frazier had been destroyed by foreman and wasnt an undefeated fighter anymore the foreman victory was great but when you look at it guys like holmes at 40 or lennox lewis at 37 could of done the same thing
It wasn't just those 3 in that era. There is a reason why the 60s and 70s were considered the golden age of Heavy-Weights. Also you forget the fact that Muhammad Ali was never really the same fighter after that 3 1/2 year lay off. Just about every HW from the 70s would have had some serious trouble trying to keep up with a Prime Ali's footwork. Oh and Lewis and Holmes never had a Fraction of the Chin that Ali had. He was taking right hands from Shavers while already having signs of parkinsons.
@JcLeopard im just gonna cut to the funnyiest thing you said holmes and lewis dont have a fraction you could say lewis but to say holmes lmfao look at the guys who had dropped ali cooper like 180pound and ali looked completly fucked holmes got dropped by shavers then dominated him and snipes tyson kod a fat holmes who still kept getting up then the ref stopped it and he still didnt look anywere near as bad as ali after the cooper knockdown ali might have better but holmes is right up his ass
check out the big brain....listen sonny you and wiki have a swell time but at 57 I saw it all LIVE. 37? so what, That was from memory. Along with stats from a lifetime of boxing in all divisions. Who cares? The man wasn't a puncher at all. Ali was a BOXER. Now Joe Louis was a boxer puncher.
just pointing a fact (37 ko's). I never said Ali was a puncher like Louis. I said Ali hit harder than his critics said. Ali also beat guys who hit harder than him. Ali in his prime would beat Louis in his prime, regardless of Louis' power adv.
fact is Ali hit guys with punches they didn't see and that's where the koes came from. To say Ali underrated is silly. I love Ali but he was a light puncher. Many punches that might hurt for sure but not the lights out guys like Liston Foreman and Shavers.
I never said he hit as hard as Sheavers or Foreman. Of course not. But he hit harder than a "light puncher". Bonavena, Lyle, Foreman, Williams, Folley, and others can attest to that. Later in his career 1976 or77 and on he couldn't bust a grape, but be4 that he had at least respectable power.
If Ali was a thug like Tyson.... Same Ali but Just a thug, he would have HURT people. Look at the greatness of this man to show mercy, calling the ref to stop it ! Just touching Ron Lyle to keep him dazed before the heartless ref stepped in. Everything was Just easy and kinda silent... then ONE TWO, BANG ! Fight finished ! Thriller In Manila proved that Ali could get in the ring with anyone as late as 1975. Past his prime. All of em are lucky Ali was a kind decent man deep down. Greatest.
@truthhit..I agree but Foreman in his second carntion often did the same thing. Lyle didn't punch back at all hence the stoppage. 20 unanwered blows? but it shows Ali never had a hard punch. Nothin new there but this is a good example. Ali in his prime 66 67 beats them all. Lyle was a tough, tough guy...still is as a far as I know.
@hitandmove Ali's punch while not in the class of Foreman, or some other huge hitters, was better than critics say. Don't forget before those 20 unanswered blows to Lyle, it was ONE single right cross that staggered a confident Lyle at the beginning of rd 11 in the first place. If Ali had no power that punch wouldn't have affected Lyle in the first place. I agree though that 66-67 Ali was best ever.
@iamtman1 Yeah but Sonny Liston said Ali COULD punch. Plus he should know because he felt them. He said " thats not the guy I was supposed to fight..... the guy I was supposed to fight couldnt hit."
This is the beauty of Ali fights right here. He beat some of the biggest punchers of all time through his speed, endurance, smarts and the science of boxing. No one lands the counter right hand over the jab like Ali, not to mention his jab and other attributes. Plus Ali could not be intimidated by anyone. It was the punchers who were afraid of him, he was never afraid of anyone.
Ali is the greatest. He mainly fought with heart, not muscle, speed and heart that Muhammad Ali for you....If you got heart you got the advantage...It takes balls to knock out George Foremann...or any other Power Boxer, and ALI did that thats why he is a LEGEND the BEST.
@7777Ralph He admitted that he was very afraid of Sonny Liston and bragged in order to psyke himself out. He said that after facing down Sonny Liston he would never fear another man in the ring, not even George Foreman.
Ali did to Lyle for 15 seconds in 1975 what Holmes did to Ali for 9 rounds in 1980. Nothing against Ali, just makes you wonder what the Ali-Holmes ref was thinking.
I agree with you totally bcibibci............I was around back in those days of Foreman and Holmes would stand there and fight but with the power of Foreman, yep he would have a better chance at it but i don't think he'd last even though he had a chin. Did u see that fight with Ernie Shaver??? Ali said shaver hit him the hardest he'd ever been hit. Ali was literally out on his feet several times against Shaver.........Foreman also.
Foreman would be beaten by holmes. Like Ali but it would be like a younger version of ali. Ali and Holmes were very alike. Holmes hit abit harder maybe but ali was fadter. Both had a great jab and took a great punch. Ali did have better footwork and was altogether a better fighter but Holmes would beat Foreman.
sorry but i have to disagree. george foreman is a tank that would press foreward talking holmes shots . he simply would over power and out punch holmes
actually second to ernie shavers, and no foreman would not beat holmes. Well he might it would be 3-1 odds to holmes though IMO. It depends if Holmes could condition his body enough.
Holmes never showed he could beat a heavyweight of Foreman's calibre. Holmes couldn't keep Weaver off him, couldn't keep Norton off him, couldn't keep Cooney off him, heck he could barely keep Tex Cobb off him, and it ain't likely he could keep Foreman off him either.
Holmes wasn't a pure defensive fighter like Young, and I don't think he could absorb the punishment Ali took in Zaire. Foreman traps him and forces him to slug it out. Then there's only one winner.
Jimmy Doyle, 1947. Robinson dreamed the night before the fight that he would kill Doyle, and tried to call off the fight. People talked him into fighting.
I disagree, Boxinglad123: Foreman in his prime would KO Holmes in his prime. Holmes was floored and very wobbly against Renaldo Snipes. Foreman, I believe, would have finished him.
Holmes had an iron chin. He was floored by Shavers, who hit harder than Foreman and got up to win. If Foreman could get him in trouble he might have finished him. Would be a great fight. I suppose seeing that foreman was very good at cutting off the ring, he could beat holmes. Then again Holmes had a great jab. Tough to call.
Foreman lost 2 Jimmy Young. He had a problem with competent and tall outside boxers. Holmes was next to Ali the king of outside boxers. He would have won against Foreman.
Foreman and Holmes would have been an interesting fight. Holmes was floored and in big trouble against Shavers and Snipes. Foreman was very underrated as a boxer. He was more skilled than Shavers; and one of the hardest punchers ever. Holmes boxing skills may have carried the day; but one mistake against Foreman would change everything.
A puncher like Foreman could knock every man out if he catches them. But he had troubles catching boxers. He even lost against Young so I think Holmes would have the most chance of winning. Foreman himself admits this. Still in my all time list Foreman is in front of Holmes. But because of the styles Holmes would have the best chance.
The only thing that makes Ali so much better than Tyson is that Ali is remembered for the fights he won, Tyson the ones he lost, Ali believed in the grace of boxing Tyson distroyed boxing with his anger. Ali would beat Tyson no both cos ali is too smart he'll just wined him up to the limit.
without a dought-(sugar ray robinson)-was + is still + probably always will be-"the greatest pound for pound boxer of all time"! of that-there is no dought whatsoever. greatest heavyweight of all time-its debatable in my oppinion between-"ali,joe louis, rocky marciano"-to be honest,my pick is-(rocky marciano).
lets get something straight. Ali was the greatest heavyweight, but the greatest boxer of all time, pound for pound is SUGAR RAY ROBINSON. over 200 fights, 130 plus knockouts, multiple time world champion. without doubt the greatest
Disagree if u want...in his prime Ali to me was the G.O.A.T. He my fav hvyw8. He changed the way heavyweights fought and created many imitators. but he should have retired much sooner i agree.
What's the name of the song in the video? I've heard it before, but I never knew the name. Could someone please tell me? (presumably whoever made the video)
how dare the stupid motherfucker butcher this great event with crapass music. Ali working the crowd in the beginning was the best thing about this fight and you edited out! Nice going jackass!

just pointing a fact (37 ko's). I never said Ali was a puncher like Louis. I said Ali hit harder than his critics said. Ali also beat guys who hit harder than him. Ali in his prime would beat Louis in his prime, regardless of Louis' power adv.
iamtman1 2 years ago
and after.
theonlysaltspring 2 years ago
fact is Ali hit guys with punches they didn't see and that's where the koes came from. To say Ali underrated is silly. I love Ali but he was a light puncher. Many punches that might hurt for sure but not the lights out guys like Liston Foreman and Shavers.
theonlysaltspring 2 years ago
I never said he hit as hard as Sheavers or Foreman. Of course not. But he hit harder than a "light puncher". Bonavena, Lyle, Foreman, Williams, Folley, and others can attest to that. Later in his career 1976 or77 and on he couldn't bust a grape, but be4 that he had at least respectable power.
iamtman1 2 years ago
If Ali was a thug like Tyson.... Same Ali but Just a thug, he would have HURT people. Look at the greatness of this man to show mercy, calling the ref to stop it ! Just touching Ron Lyle to keep him dazed before the heartless ref stepped in. Everything was Just easy and kinda silent... then ONE TWO, BANG ! Fight finished ! Thriller In Manila proved that Ali could get in the ring with anyone as late as 1975. Past his prime. All of em are lucky Ali was a kind decent man deep down. Greatest.
truthhitmanisback 2 years ago
@truthhit..I agree but Foreman in his second carntion often did the same thing. Lyle didn't punch back at all hence the stoppage. 20 unanwered blows? but it shows Ali never had a hard punch. Nothin new there but this is a good example. Ali in his prime 66 67 beats them all. Lyle was a tough, tough guy...still is as a far as I know.
hitandmove 2 years ago
@hitandmove Ali's punch while not in the class of Foreman, or some other huge hitters, was better than critics say. Don't forget before those 20 unanswered blows to Lyle, it was ONE single right cross that staggered a confident Lyle at the beginning of rd 11 in the first place. If Ali had no power that punch wouldn't have affected Lyle in the first place. I agree though that 66-67 Ali was best ever.
iamtman1 2 years ago
@iamtman1 Yeah but Sonny Liston said Ali COULD punch. Plus he should know because he felt them. He said " thats not the guy I was supposed to fight..... the guy I was supposed to fight couldnt hit."
truthhitmanisback 2 years ago
That's precisely my point. Ali's punch was underrated. At least be4 he got too old to do anything but take a great punch.
iamtman1 2 years ago
why spoil such a great video with such stupid music?
it would have been so much better with the soundtrack of the crowd and commentators.
scu1ptures 2 years ago 2
This is the beauty of Ali fights right here. He beat some of the biggest punchers of all time through his speed, endurance, smarts and the science of boxing. No one lands the counter right hand over the jab like Ali, not to mention his jab and other attributes. Plus Ali could not be intimidated by anyone. It was the punchers who were afraid of him, he was never afraid of anyone.
7777Ralph 2 years ago 28
@7777Ralph Yes sir!
Ali is the greatest. He mainly fought with heart, not muscle, speed and heart that Muhammad Ali for you....If you got heart you got the advantage...It takes balls to knock out George Foremann...or any other Power Boxer, and ALI did that thats why he is a LEGEND the BEST.
alienwarelaptop100 1 year ago
@alienwarelaptop100 : You r right, Ali is the greatest no doubt. He made boxing an interesting game.
21sul 1 year ago
@7777Ralph thats it! Ali was never afraid of anyone, thats is what made him the greatest boxer!

@7777Ralph ...YEP..that's my man..ALI a true LEGEND...ALI BOMAYE>>ALI BOMAYE...I don't think there will be another ALI ever...GOD BLESS HIM>
linart25 1 year ago
@7777Ralph He admitted that he was very afraid of Sonny Liston and bragged in order to psyke himself out. He said that after facing down Sonny Liston he would never fear another man in the ring, not even George Foreman.

Ali did to Lyle for 15 seconds in 1975 what Holmes did to Ali for 9 rounds in 1980. Nothing against Ali, just makes you wonder what the Ali-Holmes ref was thinking.

foreman would crush holmes. frazier would also beat holmes. Ali ( prime) would beat them ALL!!
primealivstyson 2 years ago 41
Please - holmes would play around w/ forman till he was gassed. Forman couldn't fight slick boxers who could move
1stplates 1 year ago
@primealivstyson and hi did beat them all ;) only larry holmes was too late
dogeban 1 year ago
I agree with you totally bcibibci............I was around back in those days of Foreman and Holmes would stand there and fight but with the power of Foreman, yep he would have a better chance at it but i don't think he'd last even though he had a chin. Did u see that fight with Ernie Shaver??? Ali said shaver hit him the hardest he'd ever been hit. Ali was literally out on his feet several times against Shaver.........Foreman also.
gbrown4x4 2 years ago
Your girl is over rated until you caught her with a black man you racist scum bag , but you couldnt do nothing about it cos you was shitting it !
truthhitmanisback 2 years ago
Wow !!! ALi was fast even at this stage .
oh yeah ! Why didnt Foreman give Larry Holmes a shot ? He fought Lyle, young but not Larry.
truthhitmanisback 2 years ago
Foreman would be beaten by holmes. Like Ali but it would be like a younger version of ali. Ali and Holmes were very alike. Holmes hit abit harder maybe but ali was fadter. Both had a great jab and took a great punch. Ali did have better footwork and was altogether a better fighter but Holmes would beat Foreman.
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
sorry but i have to disagree. george foreman is a tank that would press foreward talking holmes shots . he simply would over power and out punch holmes
huskuvhovsep300 2 years ago
No holmes had an awesome jab i think holmes would edge it but it would be tough, we would have to see it to believe it
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
look tyson and holmes he couldn't handle the pressure. forman by 1st round knockout!!
MrCoolguy6273 2 years ago
holmes wouldn't beat foreman and foreman probaly is the hardest puncher in boxing hisory
huskuvhovsep300 2 years ago
actually second to ernie shavers, and no foreman would not beat holmes. Well he might it would be 3-1 odds to holmes though IMO. It depends if Holmes could condition his body enough.
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
Holmes never showed he could beat a heavyweight of Foreman's calibre. Holmes couldn't keep Weaver off him, couldn't keep Norton off him, couldn't keep Cooney off him, heck he could barely keep Tex Cobb off him, and it ain't likely he could keep Foreman off him either.
Holmes wasn't a pure defensive fighter like Young, and I don't think he could absorb the punishment Ali took in Zaire. Foreman traps him and forces him to slug it out. Then there's only one winner.
FlaviusConstantius 2 years ago
well i don't no about that Suger ray robinson killed a guy with a hook at least that wat i heard could be wrong
udee24 2 years ago
Jimmy Doyle, 1947. Robinson dreamed the night before the fight that he would kill Doyle, and tried to call off the fight. People talked him into fighting.

holmes hit harder than ali??
not true! look only the ko rate of both than you will see who was the harder hitter.
Samsun55 2 years ago
well similar power maybe ali at his best i suppose
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
Perhaps Holmes was the harder hitter, but Ali knew how to use his power to better effect.
007rocksalotmann 2 years ago
Only men like Norton, who fought both, can answer that question.
bcibibcibcpCB 2 years ago
Ummm 1. Why is this even up for discussion? 2. Do you even know who George Foreman was? 3. Foreman would have mopped the floor with Larry Holmes
watchmyshoes22 2 years ago
Actually yes foreman was the guy who could destroy men like frazier and norton but had trouble with boxers, holmes would win.
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
LMAO No the fuck he wouldnt
watchmyshoes22 2 years ago
you don't know much about boxing do u
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
I know enough to know that Foreman would rape the shit out of Holmes
watchmyshoes22 2 years ago
I disagree, Boxinglad123: Foreman in his prime would KO Holmes in his prime. Holmes was floored and very wobbly against Renaldo Snipes. Foreman, I believe, would have finished him.
ForeverYoung58 2 years ago 2
Holmes had an iron chin. He was floored by Shavers, who hit harder than Foreman and got up to win. If Foreman could get him in trouble he might have finished him. Would be a great fight. I suppose seeing that foreman was very good at cutting off the ring, he could beat holmes. Then again Holmes had a great jab. Tough to call.
Boxinglad123 2 years ago
Foreman lost 2 Jimmy Young. He had a problem with competent and tall outside boxers. Holmes was next to Ali the king of outside boxers. He would have won against Foreman.
bcibibcibcpCB 2 years ago
Foreman and Holmes would have been an interesting fight. Holmes was floored and in big trouble against Shavers and Snipes. Foreman was very underrated as a boxer. He was more skilled than Shavers; and one of the hardest punchers ever. Holmes boxing skills may have carried the day; but one mistake against Foreman would change everything.
ForeverYoung58 2 years ago
A puncher like Foreman could knock every man out if he catches them. But he had troubles catching boxers. He even lost against Young so I think Holmes would have the most chance of winning. Foreman himself admits this. Still in my all time list Foreman is in front of Holmes. But because of the styles Holmes would have the best chance.

I agree Ali was the best ! Tyson was very ! good .
But Ali had such fast hands and the best chin ever . If he could take George's shots he could take Mike's .
sj1778 2 years ago 9
