Austin started off a tweener but became more of a babyface hence why he turned heel in 2001. Which i tought he had hilarious segments with kurt angle and vince and jericho during this period and dont 4get the singing with the rock.lol
Recently watched the latest Stone Cold DVD and he talked about his 2001 heel run being a failure. To be honest I think he's being a little hard on himself, because at times he was absolutely despicable and got some genuine heat from the fans.
Probably wasn't as good as it could have been, but still think it was a pretty decent run.
@CIW1985 i completely agree...in hind sight 20/20 i think the austin heel turn was a great storyline....no one ever would have imagined that vince and austin would be aligned. i thought it was great along with the invasion storyline
As a face of course Steve got all the cheers, but even after turning heel he is still the one getting the crowd going lol. Stone Cold and the Rock were the last of their kind. Reguardless of wrestling ability, selling moves, etc, no one has been as good at entertaining the people as those two.

Rock was more of a comedic heel and Stone Cold was more of a ruthless heel. 2003 heel Rock was extremely funny, Stone Cold from Mar 01 to about June 01 was a ruthless heel and then after Invasion he became a comedic heel
When Stone Cold and Triple H were a part of the Two Man Power Trip, they were a great heel faction. I mean the whole angle that Austin and Triple H had teamed up after the whole story line they had was very iffy. However, the way Triple H and Austin were just able to sell it so well is outstanding. If only Triple H didn't get injured, then the stable would have had more success.
I dont understand how people can say Austin was a bad heel and that it was a poor decision to make him a heel. Listen to the crowd reaction from the minute his music stopped to the point it started again, he was constantly booed. Thats the mark of a great heel, making the crowd hate him.

Those who did not like the change of Austin turning heel think of it this way, Austin knew that him being Face for a long time would eventually get tired and the fan's wouldn't cheer for him as loud anymore so he needed to make a change! It doesn't really matter if Austin was Heel or Face keep in mind he was always in between to begin with anyway! Those who say the late 90's were better I put it to you this way The early 2000 IS HELLA BETTER than the shit we have right now the PG shit!

When Stone Cold and Triple H were a part of the Two Man Power Trip, they were a great heel faction. I mean the whole angle that Austin and Triple H had teamed up after the whole story line they had was very iffy. However, the way Triple H and Austin were just able to sell it so well is outstanding. If only Triple H didn't get injured, then the stable would have had more success.

I dont understand how people can say Austin was a bad heel and that it was a poor decision to make him a heel. Listen to the crowd reaction from the minute his music stopped to the point it started again, he was constantly booed. Thats the mark of a great heel, making the crowd hate him.

Lol all the arguing about Rock and Austin on here. Now Austin was great, dont get me wrong. One of the best ever but Rock was on a whole other level on the mic especially as a heel.
This Austin heel run gets more hate than it should as it was good but trust me, Austin here could not touch Hollywood Rock in 03 on the mic. I especially remember that Toronto promo where the crowd got owned as bad as I have ever seen.
With that said though, both are so much better that anyone going on today

I suggest you watch some of Austin's promos from his ECW days and from 1996-1999. You probably started watching WWE in like 2000 or 2001. Austin "ran circles" around the Rock without any homo catchphrases about "YOU'RE A STUPID MONKEY PENIS"

When Austin was working for the Alliance, all of the sudden the next night on Raw he was a face and Angle was a heel, makes no sense. They both have strong points.
