  • that very boy is my bestie.

  • this is called Spring Autumn Falchion...Chun Qiu Da Dao...

  • what a G

  • perfect !!

  • Impressive!

  • wanna be my body gaurd lmao

  • Who the F is this genius?!

  • pure Tai Chi genius! where is he now?

  • kwan dao not a broadsword

  • Oh his stances are awsome... simply great....

  • aww he got his own little custome made kwan dao hehe

  • he ist great!

  • Theres a Chen style Master here that also teaches Kwan Dao as well as saber, broadsword, spear and long staff.

I don't think you get to learn the Kwan Dao until you have been seriously training for at least 10 years.

  • Wow. I only hope that I might extend to this level in Taiji when I start.

  • aww... CUTE! "Get 'im.. get the baby!!!" - Fat Bastard (Austin Powers) LOL i wonder how heavy that particular guan sword is.. the kid's got a real good foundation for when he gets older... see how he plants before horse stance

  • Then he'll get his arm chopped off

  • This kid is good, but that is not a broadsword. It is a Kwan Dao.

  • I started studying Choy Li Fut Kung-Fu at 8 years old and taught for 40+ years. This young man is very good.

  • wow...

    nice...

  • excellent performance... and the form was beautiful too

  • Wow...This kid is off the hook!!! At times, his energy and the energy of the spinning Guan Dao can't be distinguished, they blend so nicely. If this kid ever opens a school, I've got my check ready!

  • that is a beautiful set!

  • its halberd...

  • True, the chinese name is the guan dao, or kwan dao

  • The proper word for this class of weapon is "halbard".

  • True, the chinese name is the guan dao, or kwan dao

  • o and dont forget this weapon also contains a spear head at the back of the 'shaft' for those who missed it

  • good job

  • Good job, Lightbringer! Pudao is the Horse Knife. Longer blade, lighter weight. Guan Dao has a much heavier, shorter blade and a longer shaft. One could call it a halberd of sorts, due to its multiple uses.

  • an awesome kid...

  • For someone of his age to perform the Da Dao/Kuan Dao the way this young man does is amazing. It is a very difficult routine to learn and requires alot of skill to do Chen's Da Dao well. This kid has got the "juice". Once again, two thumbs up for him.

  • this kid is playing guandao but the guando blade and staff is reduced in weight in order for the sick and old to pick them up. that is why a kid can use it...

  • Why of course, or how would a small be able to lift a full size and weight weapon.

  • It's a guandao, not a pudao. A pudao's blade is alot longer and thinner (and it doesen't have a hook on the top) and the shaft is shorter.

  • pu dao has a longer blade.

And if I recall correctly, it is a sword.

Kwan being the name of a general who made this weapon famous I think...

Kwan or Guan dao would translate as Guan's sword...

  • Guan Yu is a legendary general from the romance of the three kingdoms which is a very popular historical novel. Guan Yu was an incredibly powerful man and his skill with the guandao is legendary. His guandao weighed 41 kilograms

  • that boy kick aZZZ. Amazing, that kid has some gung fu.

  • amazing boy!

  • pu dao

10 year olds cant pick up guan daos

  • Amazing!.. but isn't that a Kwan Dao and not a Broadsword..

  • Da dao -- literally "large knife," or slightly less literally "large broadsword" -- is the term that the Chen family uses to refer to that weapon. Most of the rest of us call it guandao.

  • interesting... Thanks for the info!
