The original Spanish creators deliberately marketed to an American audience. Please do your research before pointing fingers! Also, in the original it was the Vatican's fault for trying to isolate the biological cause for possession, and in the "American remake" it was a crazy mutated strand of rabies some guy did for a cult (which is possible). I found the remake more frightening simply because I wasn't distracted by subs. I think was the intention for an English remake. Hope this clears it up.

I don't understand how so many people can say [REC] was awesome but Quarantine sucked... they're practically the same thing! (except for the ending)

I loved both movies. I think I got scared more by Quarantine because I saw it first and got to see it in the theater. My friend and I were the only ones in the audience (it was a 10:30 showing on a Wednesday night).

Well, the difference is the acting. REC was improvised. And its obvious that the acting between USA and SPain is different.

I dont know how to explain this, but REC was way too realistic. Quarantine not. I first saw Quarantine , and I admit hat i liked it, but not that much. The only reasosn (the special one i mean) why people hte Quarantine , is because they are sillys and feel ofended because hollywood decided to make the remake.

@ThatHauntFreak REC was way more realistic because the camera man and the actress were not told what they'd find in every room and every corner during scary parts, they just were told stuff like "run upstaris, turn left and enter to the apartment" etc. but they didn't tell her "you'll find this and that and I want you to be like 'AAAH!'". The girl's fear was real, while in Quarantine it all looked like a Dora the Explorer episode.

In the final scene of Quarantine, Jennifer Carpenter had never seen that part of the set, so while filming, it was her first time seeing that room. The rest of the set she probably saw beforehand.

The endings were somewhat different. In [REC] the virus is related to demonic possession. In Quarantine the virus was created by some sort of "doomsday cult."

Hablando de la propuesta, cuando la gente escuchaba "[*REC] es una pelicula de zombies" la rechazaba, pero cuando se las ponía y 'sentían' el miedo, la impotencia y la urgencia por escapar de los personajes cambiaba su actitud. Pienso que, aunque [*REC] recurre a 'sustos fácies', muestra la trama del 'survivor' literalmente desde otra perspectiva, además aterriza de otro modo la historia al manejarla como un virus surgido en... ¿Portugal, Brasil?

[*REC] ya es de mis favoritas.
