Once your in the band, your in the band. But whether or not you stay in the section depends on the bands current needs. But Horsepower does function a little differently from the band. We are a lot more disciplined and practice and perform a lot more than the band so if your not with the program from jump...you might not last.

Played Sousa for 5 years. 1 year HS and 4 years college. Section leader for 3 years in college. Prior to al of that 6 years on trumpet prior to that. Don't play much anymore, just mentor the group and play with the alumni from time to time.

P.S. Horsepower was playing this fanfare an entire season before the Labor Day Classic 2006. You can refer to any footage from Homecoming 2005 to the end of the season and you will hear us playing it.

Funny how the second part of your fanfare is the same thing NSU play at the labor day classic 2006.How you going to say what we played was high school and then turn right around and play it. Man, for real ya'll do have a good section but focus on playing with your band and not lookin for the round of applause for play some chords and high notes. Remember its band first section later. I hope ya'll are putting as much effort in the music on the field and stands.

My comment about the fanfare being high schoolish was referring to the repetition and simplicity of the arrangement. Now about your comments about our fanfares, we pride ourselves on our ability to balance out the load of music and fanfares. On that note, a tuba player at VSU will never learn a note of a fanfare unless they first know the music. Without the music there is no band, and without the band there is no section.
