@tewepo yes, reason has the same type of piano roll as in fl studio, you just have to find it in the sequencer window when you have the subtractor selected. Best of luck and happy beat making!
Que onda! I follow you and take some tips from you to make my beats in Reason 4, you're great dude, i'm from México. I hope that you can check my songs and give me some feedbacks, it's like electronic dubstep blah blah blah =)
@kongotech2 You need to make sure that the subtractor is connected to the mixer (which it should do automatically), you can check this by pressing tab and there should be a red cable running from the audio output of the subtractor to one of the channels in the mixing desk. Then, if you don't have a midi keyboard, you will need to draw in some midi notes into the sequencer and hit play before you can hear any sound. Hope this helps!
How can I connect my synthesizer to the computer? which cable i need for that? where are the settings for that? CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE MAKE TUTORIAL FOR THAT
I don't get why it wouldn't just be easier to create the reverb and amp under a send effect and use one subtractor. I don't use Reason anymore but as far as I remember creating send effects wasn't hard.
Couldn't you do this very simply with the high and low pass filters on most reverbs and then change the blend with the dry/wet knob... ? Seems overly complex to duplicate the actual synth just to add some reverb to it...
one thing i noticed for anyone who cares, is the output from the merger got connected to the wrong inputs on the combinator, he incorrectly used the inputs that are designated for use with external devices rather than for devices contained within a rack.
tho in this case it really made no difference
i wouldnt have thought it would allow sound through or save this routing with the combi patch
@LAU99991 yeh, you can us either an audio splitter or a mixer. in this case there's no real advantage to using the mixer, other than the cables autoroute if you create the devices in the right order.
@Thacizzlec3 Offcourse silly :P Just route the output from your nnxt to the spider instead. However, depending on what particular sound you're dealing with, you may feel that it is other parts of the frequency-spectrum that needs a boost, but you'll have to use your own ears for that part. The procedure is the same, use equalizerto duck down the frequencies you don't want boosted, run it through reverb and use scream to add a boost on frequencies that need it. Don't boost where you ducked ;)
@LAU99991 It would be exactly the same. However i don't know which of the 2 virtual devices would consume more cpu. However i'd probably just do the same as dust4angel and use one spider and one synth and just routing one channel from spider splitter-outputs back to one of the merger-inputs and from a second splitter-output through reverb, eq and scream and the back into a second merger-input.
Hi I still don't understand why we need to go with 2 synths, wouldn't it be possible to duplicate this sound with just one synth, equalizer, reverb set? Is the point of having two just for convenience / finer tuning so your changes aren't as apparent since you still have that original synth in the background? Thanks.
Very very nice! (although I'm not gonna double the sub, do it like it says below instead). Shed's some light on that stabby smooth bass in Max Cooper's 'Wasp'. Love that track, very inspiring, I recommend everyone check it out.
nice idea! for anyone who cares, there's no need to double up your bass synth - you can just split the signal coming out of your bass synth with an audio spider; send one copy through the EQ and the reverb; join the copies with an audio spider; and return the joined signal through the master outs of the combinator.
this will save you some CPU, but more importantly you can tweak your synth settings on one device without having to duplicate those steps on the redundant synth.
Another tip could be to add the bass to a combinator, add a mixer, add the (spidered)eq out cables to one channel in the mixer and the rev-signal to another, which will open up the possibility to use the mixer EQ for the reverb and AUX automation separately.
@dust4ngel Unless you wanted to tweak your synth settings on one device differently from the other no? Also just to check, was the combinator was routed stright to the mixer?
JAH BLESS, now my bass line is FAT AND DIRTY just how my Jungle Massive needs it.... wooooo weeee. this is gonna be such a sick smoker with your tips, i just might get a record dropped to any label... long as i take the time to produce it right, with these sounds, i guess i'll have to....
how can i make a sequence with subtractor? like the piano roll in fl studio.

@lazicsale you need to get a firewire/usb midi interface, and midi cables. also your synth needs to be midi compatible.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do you test your sounds on the fly like that without having a sequence on the so called "piano roll"?

Just so you know, I remember routing the devices 10 seconds before you had to recap what we did.
Anyways, thanks for the tutorial and I got that refill and I'm checking out all the goodies. Prime Loops = A++

Would i get the same effect if i combined the two subtractors in a 6:2 mixer instead of in a merger/splitter? Or am i missing something here??
