thanks for the video. i was just wondering why my cat used to do this whenever i pointed a kitchen spark igniter at him (i was young and stupid, wouldn't do it anymore). and watching your video i realized (like many others) that it must be a "nails on the chalkboard" thing - it just makes them feel like "yuck!" :D

When I was 15 I had a cat called Blin,a dark tortie. She used to do this when you did that wih a comb except her tongue came out one side of her face and up her cheek, can't believe another cat does the same. Blin died when I was 33 and was 18 years old. RIp Blin and thanks for showing this vid.
The sound works like nails on a chalkboard to some people. It doesn't appear to be painful, but it does trigger a physical response. Thanks for sharing!

It may be a response to another cat gagging on something they both ate. It would help to keep them both from getting sick off the same food.

I used to have a cat that did this too. It is similair to nails on a chalkboard, it triggers this in certain cats.
