@CrashBandikoot7 lmfao i wish.. my girlfriend would be poppin out kids for me left and right wonderin where they are going.. honestly id see a price between 20-40K to do a full restoration
@xmodrock lol good one.. the only thing ill be restoring is my shitty 100 dollar aftermarket radiator where the drain plug keeps popping out on my bmw
@CrashBandikoot7 problem with 99-04 stangs is the fact the engines were 2V... once you swap for ford GT racing heads or most 4V heads your golden with those.. i know my model cobra took well to mods.. the best stang around for modifying for cheap is the old fox bodies.. they were easy to do engine swaps with.. a nice 408W and a fox body and you got a monster of a drag platform
@CrashBandikoot7 hey 99 cobra works.. its got better suspension for road driving.. better handleing ;-) but the fox bodies are the best.. i love them.. cheap and reliable
@xmodrock yeah the fox body would be nice, but will probably need a good amount of money to restore. i bet they are all suffering from rust issues and high mileage engines at this point. no cobras available for 5k right? thats my budget
@CrashBandikoot7 hehe no.. not 99+ cobras.. and you don't want anything lower than that.. unless its a fox.. i know a guy who bought his fox with 50K miles on it and not really many issues cept fucked up syncro.. he got it for 1K
@xmodrock thanks ill keep the fox body in mind.. not a fan of the styling, but it looks nice and simple. one thing though, you said a few days ago the 99-04's were 2V.. you mean 2 valve per cylinder? pretty sure they are 4 valve per cylinder
@CrashBandikoot7 99-04 mustangs were 2V/cylinder and the cobras were 4V/cylinder as were the 03-04 mach 1s and the bullit from those years is 2V as well
@xmodrock Are you sure? Cause if they are V8's how can they possibly have 2 valves per cylinder? That would give them 16 valves, and I dont see a way that engine could make 260hp that way. I was just reading last night that they have 32 valves the 99-04 GT Mustangs and it kinda makes sense, dont you think?
@CrashBandikoot7 nope they got 16 valves.. but they had performance improved heads.. if it had 32 valves then it would make 330 HP... go ggole "whats the difference between 99 cobra and 99 GT" and you'll see.. i know that for a fact.. my friend did a engine head swap with a Linlcon to get the 4V per a cylinder
@CrashBandikoot7 they made them till 04 and then in 05 they slapped on 3V/cylinder heads... which ill never understand... i think they should stick with the 32V engines and VVCT like the new 5.0
@xmodrock yeah 3v/cylinder is weird. i guess they were trying to economize on the valves? shortage of valves in the world maybe? lol.. so those old school 5.0 fox bodies had the 4v/cylinder right? i may really take them into consideration.
@CrashBandikoot7 nope only 2V/head but they took well to mods and were cheap to make changes too.. other popular thing is engine swaps cause they are easy to work in.;. plenty of room
@xmodrock i see.. also appreciate all this info ur giving me. where is the most cheapest source to get one of those 4v heads? i mean what car? like off a cobra or something?
@CrashBandikoot7 personally id snatch them off an old aviator :-P out of a junk yard, have them ported andput high performance cams in it and you'll be good to go :-D or snatch em off a low miles totaled cobra.. and get a head changing kit from lethal performance.. but the heads from an aviator only work on the 4.6L modular V8s.. so a 99 -04 GT will fair you well (you can get heads off a mark VIII) and NP glad to help someone with a build
@xmodrock Wow you really know your fords lol.. Thats what I call a true enthusiast right there. How much power am I looking at from something like that? I can leave the bottom end stock?
@CrashBandikoot7 the bottom end can be stock with the 4V heads but if your switching heads and plan to run boost eventually throw in some forged internals (i would do a stroker kit personally) cause u got the heads off anyway.. and power wise... i suppose it would be about 300HP at the crank.. seeing as my 99 cobra makes 33 with just 4V and improved intake system
@CrashBandikoot7 well.. for starters you can try my youtube account.. i have two vehicles.. 99 SVT cobra and a 2007 ford F250 super duty (diesel of coarse)
@xmodrock very nice clean cars.. i had an F250 like that at work a few years back I had to repark, I remember waiting for that wrench to disapear for the glow plugs lol.. I love that car mainly due to the front seat being one piece and the arm rest able to be brought up. i think you know why, especially if theres a girl around lol.. diesals are pretty popular in the racing world too now, see them winning Le Manns all the time due to their fuel economy. cant wait to get me some american muscle
@CrashBandikoot7 yea i love my f250.. needs an oil change ATM lol but once thats done my fuel economy should be back up.. and trust me man.. there is nothing like having that roar of american muscle and the power of a V8 in front of you
@xmodrock thats why I cant wait to own one.. i've had just about enough with this BMW.. it leaks coolant for no reason out of its shitty over complex plastic cooling system. i just removed one thing cause it was leaking(there was nothing broken, just the rubber o-ring came out of place cause i touched something. so the leaks stops there once i reinstall everything and starts somewhere else. and this is all happening with fairly new parts.. gotta get rid of it, but i just hate selling cars
@CrashBandikoot7 yea i know quite a few people that had BMWs and wound up hating their complexity.. and mercedes isn't much better.. my friend had a 7 series.. was new... when u closed the front vents when the A/C was on then water squirted like a fountain out the back ones
@xmodrock lol that sounds almost funny. but where would the water come from? condensation off the evapertor or something?? yea its making me sorda hate working on cars honestly. even though i have success with other cars i fix.. i had to redo so many jobs on it, its not even funny. its sad actually how much time i wasted on it. i learned alot though about straight 6's though. i had a chance to do a head gasket on it too lol.. nd its a 2003. but that was kinda my fault. dont drive with mis-fires!
@CrashBandikoot7 lolol euro cars are pretty over rated.. my uncle has an 88 VW jetta with 400K miles on it but he rebuilt the engine 3 or 4 times already... its pretty dumb.. im an American boy, always will be
@xmodrock True, but they are pretty damn sweet to drive when they are in good shape. Can't really compare. Just too complex for no reason. I think my car, if they kept everything nice and simple in terms of the cooling system without 2 t-stats, without something called an expansion tank that attaches to the radiator, and without cooling hoses that have plastic fittings at the tips, it would be so much more reliable. But my theory is this, they make things last for the lease period.. Then..(cont)
@xmodrock Once the second owner comes along and the warrenty is over, these next guys get f*ed and pay right out of pocket.. Off to the parts department. And these parts ain't cheap. They know what they are doing these engineers. Why make it last, when you can sell more of the same to the customer. I think Japs and US companies are taking note of these tactics as well. I haven't owned American yet, but still feel my heart will always be with the 80's and 90's Jap sports cars. I love them.
@CrashBandikoot7 yea im not much for any new cars.. the new mustang has a nice engine but i really don't like the look.. 04 and earlier is how i roll.. old fox bodies.. 96 supras, really old muscle cars.. those are the best.. new cars just aren't the same
@xmodrock Yeah love those 4th and 3rd gen Supras. My dad had an 87' 486rwhp. forged internals, oversized valves, t66 turbo. just sold it for 8 grand last year to some 18 yr old whos probably gonna turn it to shit. damn now that i think about it, he never let me drive it. im pissed now. i grew up in that car. i agree, new cars just arent as fun, nor have as much spirit as the old school. maybe cause everything back then was cooler. as for old muscle, i really like that 69' camaro. will own 1 day
@CrashBandikoot7 69 camaros were absolutely beautiful... i love the 68 gt500, shelby cobra, and the dodge charger/challenger.. even the hemi cuda is awesome.. old cars had to have alot of personality because they didn't have technology to make people wanna buy them.. so they made gorgeous cars..
@xmodrock yeah man.. i love all those you mentioned. i play with them in GT5 all the time. is there a difference between the 68' and 67' GT500 from gone in 60 seconds?
