Actually, you're better off eating food with a hand you washed thoroughly clean than eat with spoons and forks at a restaurant. Metal forks and spoons can scratch and harbor lots of harmful bacteriae in those scratches that cannot be cleaned properly.

I see Indian society WAY MORE hygiene conscious now than 10 yrs ago. Manure has fecal coliforms and sprinkling water over the pattal doesn't kill them.

I was referring to ANYONE who washes his/her hands. You talk about lack of soap usage in the slums, but you act as these slum-dwellers have access to forks and knives.
