  • What a wonderful demo to illustrate the depth of human stupidity! I love it.

  • i wonder what in the world is that sound going in the back ground CAUSE IT's KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • suicidemouse.avi On Linux! :L

  • I still have to wonder why there's a command to *delete your entire hard drive* in an operating system. What's the purpose of it? Can someone familiar with the OS explain why Linux has this?

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin It's just like the del command in DOS. Except you can specify a folder, and in this case the root directory is specified.

In other words, the command does not exist exclusively to delete the entire disk, however it can be told to do so if the user wishes.

  • @7ReyZor Oh, okay, that explains it, thanks. I know there's a really mean old trick you used to be able to play on newbie MS-DOS users. You'd say to them that there'd be something cool they could do with MS-DOS; all they had to do was navigate into the system file directory and type "del *.*"...

  • i was wondering if you would add 64 .deb packages for Suicide Linux

  • why in hell would you want to install this, although this would be funny installing this on your friends computer, lol.

  • I just tried this on a Debian 6 VM and it didn't work. Needs a "--no-preserve-root" on the rm -rf command.

  • It's not in the AUR.

    Arch version please

  • @lolishoujo hahaha no, arch is for children

  • @rogueamp lol wat? Ubuntu is for noobs. Debain is OK.

  • @rogueamp ubuntu user saying that? it is not even funny o.O

  • Challenge accepted

I'll install it in my Arch Linux babe right now

  • Heh non offense but your a bit of a inux noob =P. The | (pipe) is for piping commands into other commands so that is why cd | didn't work as it was expecting you to give it another command to run (why after enter it still wanted you to type something).

Also /proc is generated from pids/running processes. Calender and other stuff only worked because everything currently running will not actually be deleted until the file is no longer in use.

  • @houkouonchi It's in your RAM! :)

  • @Worfox13 Yes running programs are in your ram but the file itself is not deleted either and still remains on the hard-drive as long as there is an open file descriptor on the file. This is the case even for a 10 gigabyte video file if say your playing it with mplayer and the file is definitely not in ram. The files (even after being deleted) can still be accessed from /proc/pid/fd/$fdnum.

This is why its noticeable on some slow deleting fs cause when its in use it will delete instant

  • Nice job breaking it, hero.

  • Ubuntu <3

  • Here's The trick question how did you upload this video if your hard drive got wiped?

  • @2000plwjr Virtual PC

  • @2000plwjr notice the vmware boot screen at 5:05. also, the fact that the mouse was still present during the boot sequence

  • Linux, getting raped in the ass by sofware modification since 1969

  • bob: I'm surprised I'm still alive.

bob: I'm going to uninstall it, I don't want to mess up

    bob: apt-get remov suicide-linux

    bob: OH GOD

-!- bob [bob@546546.TDDIRC] has quit [Quit: Lost terminal]

  • i ran this in my ubuntu 11.04 VM... :D awesomeness!

  • @PivotmasterXD257 i did it too, left it for an hour, and my screen was black when i came back

  • I'm surprised it didn't have a kernel panic!

  • Yep, I was right, this was a waste of my time.

  • Watched this on Ubuntu 11.04 :(

  • They should just cut the bullshit and make it repartition and format the hard drive

  • @ThePcTrickster Me too!

  • it's also funny to ' chmod -R 644 / ' as root

  • It just goes to show you all... the biggest threat to a Linux-Box is the user. If you don't know what you are doing then stick to your Software Manager.

  • WTF

  • @SolvedSnake LOL

  • @campaingboy73 Not really, it says it will destroy Linux if you type something wrong in the Terminal, and even gives you a reminder in the Terminal, so its just kinda an easier way to wipe your Hard Drive.

  • @campaingboy73 unlikely the software is not a virus nor it is spreading via web like crazy. and it warns you when running

not to mention you most be really foolish( or wanting this to happend) to sudo or su using a terminal like that

  • is suicide linux rogue?

  • This mod is like- Linux: Challenge Mode Activated

  • Russian Roulette for linux users :v

  • Can I have the iso for the system your running? or at least what system your running (i know its sandboxed, I want to try it out on virtual PC 2007)

  • Or you can just delete the system 32 folder

  • @Rikunius999 hahahaha shut your whore mouth while the professionals are talking. in case you still dont know, linux != wndows

  • Wait... if it has deleted everything, how can you still be recording?

  • @TheStickKid

It's a hack in linux. It's a super hack in fact.

  • i bet the recorder went gone

  • SwweeeeeeeeeTTT

  • In terminal it's misspelled as Suicide Linx. It's missing the U.

  • I did it, it's so fun(ny). xD

  • Imagine installing this, forgetting it was there, putting a whole bunch of important documents on the computer, then making a typo.

    Yes, this is evil.

  • @KylerWyler It's hard to forget if it warns you that its there. Let's see if you are running Windows, clicked on a poisoned Google Image Search, and the virus creators ask you sincerely, "Are you sure you want to infect your computer with our fake AV?". (And I mean sincerely; click no and remain unharmed). LOL!! This is not evil. More so a game. Plus, even a good Linux user knows even if you re-install the operating system, some (but not all) of your documents can get recovered!

  • The calendar is gone

    *calendar appears*

    Or maybe not

  • that is hilarious

  • lol, this is funny.

  • This seems like a virtual Jigsaw trap

  • This would be great for a linux command grammar nazi.

    Linux Grammar Nazi Guru: sdo

    Computer: Running sdo...

LGNG: WHAT?!!?!?! OH SHIT I HAVE MISSPELLED THAT! I AM NOT FIT TO WALK UPON THIS EARTH IF I CANNOT TYPE CORRECTLY!

    *Computer is deleting everything*

LGNG: Thank you computer. Now I must not live in shame no longer.

    *Computer explodes*

  • I feel daring.

    *Goes and tries it*

    NOOOOOOOOOOO

Very interesting. Ive held off infecting my Virtual Machine with viruses ever since that MS Points generator which nearly hijacked my network. I assume rogue anti-spyware tools need to connect to the internet to produce false positives?

  • Something you should not use for daily use..you would accidentally destroy everything..when it will be too late ..lol

  • the rm -rf / command removes a directory specified, if you run it from the root level of your drive, where all the directorys start, thats when sudo rm -rf / will remove all directorys, given the correct permissions

  • Does it convert errors into rm -rf as well?

Like if you run a script and it outputs an error.

  • Why won't you update to 10.04 or get linux mint? If this is a "server", get debian lenny.

  • Comp: Running uiwhiudafhwi

    ***ERROR***

Comp: NUOOO I HAVE FAILED YOU! FAREWELL CRUEL ERRORS!

    *Suicides*

    You: What the ^%$@?

  • Lol I'm gonna use it for by Fedora 12 Vm.

  • rm -rf / also works in os x

  • It's Kamakzi linux!!

    BONZAIIIIIIIIIII!

  • If only I used Linux ):

  • For a moment there, I was scared we were going to lose the calendar.

  • @WTLNetwork Omg your that guy from roblox robot wars :3

  • So if you make a typo, the HDD erases by itself completely? A bit harsh, don't you think?

  • i saw all "permission denied" or "operation not permitted" at 3:14

  • it's a fast way to format the drive

  • I was expecting to the GUI to turn black and white, playing macabre sounds and do all sorts of crazy video effects. But I was wrong...

  • Ubuntu is dead O.o!! This is cool. If only there was a Windows version :D

  • @infinitypark003 rmdir anyone? :D

  • The best typo fixing program? Get a damn luck if your keyboard doesn't get broken.

  • is ubuntu also your host?

  • @Flashuploads Windows host.

  • @rogueamp I know you made that Navashield video a long time ago, but can you do a removal guide for navashield? If you go to n a v a s h i e l d . c o m you can still get navashield so i'm sort of paranoid. Awesome vids.

  • Now, for a windows version

  • @cheat12code I would love to see that!!

  • dd if=/dev/null of=/dev/sda :D
