  • so wonderful

  • If you love transcendently romantic noise, you'll love the Cocteau Twins. I still suppress a chill

whenever I hear "Heaven or Las Vegas". Wonderful stuff!

  • i decipher her saying 'wipe your feet' and 'winter season/sequel'

dare i say it sounds like a song about making cider? [the orange

    liquid of the apple ingredients]

  • i could listen to her forever

  • no idea what she's saying, but i believe everything she says

  • i'm getting flixyflaxinfloatsomeflews with a hint of frillysillyserious

  • Incredible Live performance from one of my favorites band ever....thank you so much for posting this beautiful masterpiece....regards from Callao - Perú..

  • was this filmed at a roller skating rink?besides that....sweet!

  • I saw the Twins YEARS ago in NYC at the Roseland.......they where even better live then there on their cd.........One of the best shows I have ever seen

  • tolle frau,tolle musik,klasse!!

  • "wait at sea for waves of light"

  • in what languague she is singing?

  • @lavanguardiadelsol who cares

  • @lavanguardiadelsol her very own : )`

  • @sidDkid87 thanx. i wonder what appleyorange tastes like?

  • @posypity I'm not sure, but it sounds good

  • Her voice is a musical instrument, and that's how she uses it.

  • jean e ous

  • LIZ! LIZ! LIZ!!!

  • best female vocalist of all time! <3<3<3

  • This is a million times better than the studio version.

  • The statement you just made is as likely or unlikely to be true as mine except that it appears for some reason that you are angry!!

I like to believe that Liz does say, “I love you” its fairly clear and at that time they were very much in love. Either way it doesn’t matter just keep enjoying their music.

P.S just because it’s on the net doesn’t mean its true!!

  • pillsandsoap... best youtube name ever sounds funky :D

  • One of the best building intros. Great artistry!

  • It has nothing to do with my fertile imagination kikkiokioli its a fact she clearly says i love you before she looks round. just read the lyrics.

Regardless its still a beutiful song either way.

    lol

  • @klanger1387 What lyrics? Do you have a copy of Liz's lyric book? As you can read elsewhere on the internet, Liz glanced around a lot cos she was short-sighted and wanted to be sure that Robin, Simon, and all the others were there to support her. Nothing to do with saying "I love you" to anybody.

  • @pur69 not that i wish to go on about it but while you are reading on the "net" why dont you take a look at the comments for this song as it appears that other people agree with me.

  • wait at sea for waves of light

  • I saw them play in 92 or 93 in Wolverhampton (with Seefeel) and they were glorious, absolutely as good as i could ever have hoped. Seefeel were terrific too as it happens, so it was an all-time great gig for me.

  • this is my friends you tube acount :P well anyway i love her i wish she was still in the same group im 28 and and now i want to see live like a lot of groups in the 80s that are not around any more

  • Absolutely amazing indeed and made all the more beautiful when Liz tells Robin she loves him at 0.57 and then gives him a cheeky smile. Wonderful

  • @klanger1387 fertile imagination?

  • Thank you for posting. one of my favorite favorite songs, incredible live version and really good quality sound recording. :-)

  • Creative perfection...

  • Her singing, this song in particular, gives me goose bumps (the good kind) and makes me glad to be alive . . .

  • Funny thing that while Liz is totally astounding here, her lyrics are at their most indecipherable ever. Just goes to show what actually makes for great music..

  • I don't normally like the live recordings as much but this one is just gorgeous. It has so much more life and elation than the studio version. E.F seems so ecstatic in this recording. It really shines through!

  • i am haunted with this lump in my throat everytime she does her thing. i am rushed with goosebumps by this terrifyingly beautiful piece. e song takes me away. what a great band.

  • There's just no telling how much I love this performance. Is it beacuse there's no audience that Liz just lets fly with that wondrous instrument that is her voice? Not to mention the guys amazing guitar work! A performance to cherish and remember.

  • great live version

  • Magical song, brilliant performance, her voice reaches into my soul. Can you hear her say "yippie-yi-yay" at 1:39? Just kidding, I know it's her own wonderful mystery linguistics. :-)

  • I'm in love . . .

  • @sidDkid87

    ~Word~

  • This is the best CT live performance I've seen on YouTube (except for maybe Bluebeard on a certain late night american talk show). This version is also WAY better than the studio version of Orange Appled. The CTs were in perfect form here.

  • guitar from middle/end is just fucking epic

  • winona ryder has great music taste!

  • my heart gets so heavy when i listen to CT. my eyes tear up. haha. love love love

  • SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK

  • ouuuuhhh my gawd...i just love her soo much..soo much memories back in time and also now...this music means soo much to me...can't express it...

  • precisa falar mais.....................

  • Isn't it cute how she says "yippie-yi-yay? at 1:40? ;-)

    Just love her.

  • This is my fave performance by the cocteaus....Brill!!

  • How many other "singers" sound better live than on a recording?!?!

  • i can remember watching this on the tellybox and getting goosebumps. Her voice is so beautiful

  • one of liz's best

  • the best.........

  • Comment removed

  • ouvir cocteau e estar nas nuvens, infelizmente igual nao teremos jamais entao nos restar sorver cada melodia dessa banda...............

  • Now you know what to play if I die...

  • Best live performance ever. Liz is just totally stunning

  • Wow performance. Just wow

  • Got this on a free melody maker EP from the late 80's

  • I saw them on this tour in 1991- they were absolutely amazing!! Good times! Good memories!!!

  • Maybe my favorite song by the Cocteau Twins and just a perfect job live.

  • Lovely indeed.... Got to agree, there is and will only ever be one Liz.... I'm glad I was around to hear her at her best.... Respect!

  • just wonderful

  • Whoa. Liz look very joyful & optymistic :) You make my day, TY.

  • UTTER PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if there really is a heaven.. i just hope and pray Liz is waiting at the gates to sing me into eternity....

    Long live Cocteau Twins!

  • I loved the studio version, but this just blew me the hell away! Liz is astounding. What a voice.

  • Immortal beauty!

  • no words to express how WONDERFUL the were and they are, and they will be

  • The bells and guitars on this song are to die for.

  • There are no bells on this track. It's guitars only. AFAIK, CT used a synth on two or three songs from Treasure, but that's about it.

  • Pedant

  • Thanks for uploading this onto Youtube

  • haunting, a truly original sound and group! Love them :)

  • absolutely amazing. best live performance of theirs ive seen, except for 'song of the siren'... this is so great.!!!! love love love this song....so great and their will NEVER be another singer like E.F. period. end of story. she began it, and shes gonna end it. their can be no doubt she is a amazing artist. love:)

  • just brilliant! Perfect in all its rawness. Never seen Liz look so bewildered at times, but she just sings and that is all that matters! Oh, and the music!! This is surely a little piece of heaven on Earth?

  • "flying above the earthly traps"

That´s a really good way to describe it!

  • 57 secs "i love you" then a cheeky glance at robin its so cool and so sad they fell out CTs will live forever

  • Lisa changed, like all

  • Like Mark Burgess once said on the album notes for 'Strange Times': "...a rock of sanity in a sea of shit..." :D

  • I can't understand what language she is speaking..? What's her nationality?

  • Comment removed

  • Scottish. She sings in a melismatic/glossalalia style, not a language persay more like molding vocal sounds to suit the music

  • shes speaking the language of love

  • Look at Her, angelic and flying above the earthly traps, as is Robin and Simon, as are We by tuning in - All human & All spirits Magnificent

  • God, I love the power in her voice - which can also be so light and etheral. Could listen to this forever. Listen - you can hear her say "yippie-yi-yay" at 1:40 ! *winks*

  • This band changed my life. The music just soars. Love this track!

  • Once the Cocteau Twins get under your skin you will never let them go. I keep comng back to the well of perfection. I know they will never reform, but I really wish that they could. The Go-Betweens managed it, so maybe it not beyond the realms of possibility.

  • one of my favorite cocteau twins songs

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I just adore this band. While I have many likes there is nothing quite like them. The Music is timeless and beautiful. Another wonderful song. Lyrics? Its the mood , the structure, texture of the song. Who needs radio?

  • This band is amazing! I only found The Cocteau Twins since I've been on Youtube and I'm a fan. It really lifts my blues, it's like sonic Prozac undulating over my ear drums. Amazing!

  • Exquisita, nunca me cansare de oirla. Me gustaria que suban mussette and drums, the tinderbox, hearsay please, and wax and wane.

  • brilliant!

  • BRILLIANT! Thx for posting this ... I saw them during this period, and this brought memories flooding back. Genius.

  • i don't suppose you saw them at the royal festival hall did you? It wasabout 1993 and I have never experienced an atmosphere anything like. it seemed like the entire place was covered in this wave of emotion, love even...

  • I was there! It finished off like a greatest hits night. I remeber going to the bar at one point and coming back in when they had just started to play "Lorelei". Then everyone started racing down to the front of the stage (it was a "sit down" venue). Magical memories.

  • There's a performance of Summerhead by them from Jools Holland's Later on youtube, and in the the intro to the performance he says thet "Tomorrow night they are playing The Royal Festival Hall", so thet places it at just the time we saw them. Did they start the gig with this song? As it happens four of the best gigs I've ever seen were at the RFH: this one , The Residents, Faust, The Buena Vista Social Club. Apart from any thing else the acoustics are wonderful there.

  • I love this song! Yay!

  • nothing to say but this... this is incredible

  • ...Common everybody! Sing along! ;O)

  • what is amazing about liz is that they actually write beautiful lyrics to the songs and she interprets the words into her own language - i thought at first she was singing in gaelic - i love this song, though - thank you plLisAnd SOAp

  • once one of my friends said:''All the c.t. songs sound form me, exactly the same,. except for liz voice''

im not agree on absolute,. but he has a point,

liz voice make diference song by song, her vocals can change totaly the course of a tune, only she can do magic with robin guitars, and with simon bass.

cause that she is the best singer ever

  • Your buddy must have been tone deaf lol

  • ..as usual it makes me sad, melancholy, joyous, suicidal and gorgeous all at the same time

  • Liz ......what to say...., a God's gift!

  • best band ever

  • cocteau twins make such pretty music. alot good for sleeping and/or lovemaking..i bet for drugs too

  • oh yeah..all of the above

  • 大学时第一次听到他们的歌就迷上了

    美妙的声线

    独特的唱腔

    爱上极地双子星

  • "Wait at sea for waves of light..."

Liz did say in interviews that a lot of these songs were her "coping mechanisms" for dealing with Robin. I hear a quick "I love you" at the 1:00 mark and then, as she does often live, she looks back to look at Robin. In later concerts - when their relationship ended, she would catch herself as she turned back and, even sometimes avoid looking in Robin's direction while onstage.

Some people have said the chorus contains "He loves you more than this"

  • I actually listened to an interview with her today, and the coping mechanisms she discussed were about her insecurity as a lyricist. She felt that she couldn't be a competent songwriter so she went the cut and paste route. I still think it's a genius way to create lyrics though. And of course she still had to love doing it.

  • gorgeous, works perfectly <3

  • hi decoreh, tell your friends to listen to the album 'Garlands' and then to 'Victorialand' - see if they still think they all sound the same then ;-D

You are right, Liz is the best singer ever!

  • amazing stuff brilliant .

  • Hermoza canción, please upload wax and wane completa

  • Which year is this video from?

  • Hey Benny, I stil remember the times we spent together with this song, and could not help but, going back in time and relive those beautiful moments I spent with you whilst listening to this song. (Harlandale High School times)

  • I love Liz - this is the best she's done, to me. I laugh when she says "yippy yi ay" at 1:40 (ha ha). She can do no wrong. Carry on Liz, and let us hear from you.

  • This viewing on Snub really got me into the Cocteaus big style! This and I think Ella Megalast(?) Burls Forever was the two numbers on this set, Ella from Bluebell Knoll and I think Orange Appled was a US release or maybe a B-side? Anyone? Simons bass playing was magic too and he and Simon Gallup were a massive inspiration to my bass playing days. When lifes in a bit of turmoil a listen to the cocteaus makes everything fine. Long may Lizzie burl!!

  • this was the song that means the most to me.. i lost my virginity to it.. very special and so long ago..

  • I should have been listening to this in my teens(nearly 40 now!)

I can imagine doing the same as you priorylisa ;-)

  • The beauty of the 'Twins still gives me chills.

  • Liz looks really happy here. Her voice is absolutely effortless and soaring. There is no better sound on the planet

  • This is a real find. I can't believe I never knew about this performance. One of my favorites. I saw them perform this song in Boston once a long time ago. It may even be from this tour - I remember her hair like this. You're right Mog, this was Liz at her most beautiful. Thanks so much for posting this. pills!

  • So many people just don't get them..But their music has always touched me. And yes I am american as well.

  • I think Liz was at her most beautiful here.

  • Wasn't she just!

  • Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!!! I miss them so much.

  • amazing live performance! even better than the album version??

  • Is there an album that this version of the song is on? Because I went to find what CD this was on and I found that the album version was different. I like this one more becuase you can actually here Elizabeth's vocals...the album version is not mixed well, you can just barely make her out.

  • Orange Appled is on the 'Love's Easy Tears' ep

That ep is included in the original Cocteaux' box-set, tho' I dunno if it's still available

This version is very lovely indeed tho' I also love the original - check out the beautiful ice-bells

  • To reretacnala : yes, I'm an American.

  • Is she singing gaelic?

  • No.

  • Well, this has been a fun way of losing 3 hours of my life discovering these video gems... I really can't seem to stop watching these CT vids.

Between Liz's vocal style and presence and the incredible sonic wash in the background, it doesn't get much better than this...

  • Scottish mouth music with a very modern twist...

    I love it!

  • The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Cor 12:4 : " (I) was caught up into Paradise, and heard inexpressable words, which a man is not permitted to speak." [NASB version] I can only speculate that IF he heard music up there too- that it MIGHT have possibly sounded something very much like this song

  • Are you from the US bvy any chance...

  • Elizabeth - simply devine

  • Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah this is too good for human ears!

  • this is absolutely brilliant

  • This was the 1st time I claped eyes on them perfect or what?

  • A great performance, Liz Fraser seems confident, the track is happy and she seems to be enjoying it (quite often she looks troubled and nervous). It's fascinating to see these videos, I've listened to the Cocteau Twins since about 1986, but the personalities of the band remained clouded in mystery until I looked here. Thanks for this.

  • yep...liz is in fine flow here...like you im only finding some of those delightful videos and enjoying every moment..hope you are too :)

  • What a tune! Truly original and mood changing x I love the Twins

  • As for such good music I would expect more views....

  • Damn I miss this band...

  • Where did it come from?Sheer wonderment.. only CT could do this..

  • She's...Brilliant!

  • ..i have never heard CT before ! i know the name of the band ...ive heard the name...now..im absolutely positive about what they do ! very nice !

  • i wish they'd just get back together already!!!!

  • I feel full of joy when I hear this ! GREAT BAND!!!

  • spellbinding

  • Elizabeth has so many moods and voices and tells so many stories and they are all beautiful just as she is. The cocteaus are where brilliant and a treasure that will never fade with disposable trends. they are legend.

  • intense and extremely beautiful. I'm speechless..

  • One thing that amazes me is that she just never sounds bad...ever. God Bless Liz. Oh wait no need, already did!

  • Elizabeth Fraser's voice is great and her sining style is unique, but what gets lost because of that is the talent of the band. I love the guitars in every song they do.

  • great songwriters and musicians.

  • I had a chance to see Robin perform solo and it was absolutely brilliant.

  • Vancanman2 is right! Liz has a voice sent straight from the heavens, kissed by God, and a gift for us all to hear. But Robin's guitar and Simons bass are simply audio heroine. The glowing, warm, melodic bass lines and whirlwind, shimmering sex of the guitars is unbeliveable!!! Along with Liz's voice, this makes them the best band ever!!!!

  • valtwin you said it! CT kissed by God!

  • lovely.

  • That must have been filmed not long after Elizabeth got sobered up. She looks great! I miss her voice so much and wish they would do one last show together. I was lucky enough to see the "Heaven of Las Vegas" show when they ended the tour in Vegas. Thanks for posting.

  • not sure what shes saying but this song makes me want to fall in love again.would b first time in several yrs.powerful music, yet so gentle and soothing....WOW

  • i'll fall in love with you!

  • look my man.i sound sappy as hell! but i'm all about the poontang.sorry 'bout your luck.and i'm far from wanting to actually fall in love. it was just off the cuff remark. if your just being goofy then lol...

  • Wait at sea for waves of light

Always stars see what, once you're free,

He hopes will be the very last time

He loves you more than this

The stars let you know all's right and bright

And he loves you more than this

Ego lets him know that's how much more was gained

  • its sad more ppl dont know about the cocteau twins

    theyre so amazing!

    fuck!

    CT FOREVER! <3

  • Their last GREATest year... Thank you , God.
