  • @chrisgrinhard Thanks man god bless!

  • @Trigun337 Hey man thanks a lot I've heard something like that to.....can u get more immune to punches after getting hit?

  • @eduardinho777 - Sorry for butting in, but...

You get more immune mentally from getting hit, but it's not a great way to develop physically. If you want to develop a strong core then there are much better ways to do it then allowing someone to hit you in the gut a thousand times.

Forgive me, but your question is wrong headed. Don't think about developing the ability to TAKE a shot, instead develop the ability to avoid ALL shots. In the end, no one wins in a slugfest, except the audience.

  • @eduardinho777 I'm not a pure "boxer", I mean I have over 8 YRS boxing experience(training, sparring,a few street fights), but I also train in multiple styles of martial science so ,again not the "pure boxer"

but, my advice is that you might want to do a better job of angle your stance, tucking your chin down so its protected by your lead shoulder.

Also, do you lower your opposite hand when you fire your lead, straight, hook, or cross?

DON'T....it makes you vulnerable to counter!

  • @eduardinho777 try this drill.

first stand in front of a mirror, get into your boxing stance, now throw a straight, cross, hook, jab.

practice doing this punching with only one hand, KEEP YOUR OPPOSITE HAND UP/NEAR CHIN/NEAR JAW, READY TO DEFEND.

Now switch sides and do this with the other hand.

drill for 10 min each hand.

This will teach you to stay better guarded against counter punching.

Try this when you spar with your sparring partner.

    GOOD LUCK!

  • I wanted to know if there was anyway I could improve my chin cuz I've gotten knocked out and hurt several times....somebody please answer

  • @eduardinho777 Try Strengthening Your Neck. You Cannot Exactly Strengthen Your Chin, Per Say, But Having A Stronger Neck Will Allow You To Absorb Punches Better. This Guy Actually Has A Video Saying This. Just Look For His Vid Talking About Having A "Granite Chin."

  • @eduardinho777 - BTW - I was going to say that if you're getting knocked out and hurt "several times" during sparring then you should take Smokin' Joe Frazier advice and look for another gym because your trainer isn't really looking out for you.

But then I looked at your homepage and noticed you have a video of two kids street fighting. So if that's how you're getting hurt, well, you can't fix stupid.

Get to a gym and learn from a pro. What those guys were doing is total garbage.

  • bullshit!!!

  • and if he does a left hook counter? you dead?

  • @bstosnbata there are safe ways to hit and safer ways

  • @bstosnbata well first, the head is little too far for a powerful left hook to land effectively, second, even if the left hook lands, it will land somewhere close to the top of his head.

  • by straight, do you mean level?

  • Oh, jbergado already said exactly what i did lol. Oh well, better chance of people seeing it and hopefully saving themselves from this guys tip.

  • Mhhmm...and what if he shoots his left hook? Genius. Didnt think of that, did we? Heres a better tip...cover your chin behind your left shoulder and arm as you shoot the left to the body and keep your right hand where its supposed to be in a situation like that.

  • excellent tips :) honestly speaking

  • i rarely would ever recommend to use the off hand the way you did in a body jab. you're setting yourself up for failure. counter hook will knock you unconscious. keep the off hand ready for a hook, keep your lead shoulder above your jab to protect your chin. don't do what this guy said.

  • @jbergado he's left handed though

  • @HypnagoGames I'm a lefty as well. Even better reason to not use the off hand in front of your face. for a lefty, it is better to block a left hook to your right jaw. most orthodox fighter strength is in that left hook. i'd rather protect against a devastating hook than a jab to your face.

  • @jbergado i'll trust you then :)

  • My coach doesnt like jabing to the body, but I know i how to do it effectivly and he doesnt lol.

  • i am a mauy thai fighter and alot of fighters in this sport are good with the hands. Having great hands puts me at an advantage in this sport. Thanks really apriciate it.

  • As a boxer i appreciate you giving sound adice to someone about jabbing to the body... respect from the Morris ParK Boxing Gym Bronx NY

  • I too and southpaw, i do occasionally jab to the body but not really to do anything other than to distract the guy, like peps have said here already better to work the jab uptop to set up fight finishing body blows, uppercuts under ribcage, and hooks to the liver area, even back hand straights to the solar plexus

  • i'd say never jab to the body, the risk reward ratio is to high. poor chane of doing any damage, large chance getting hurt on the counter attack, thugh un upercut or hook instead.

  • @Seantorky3 never jab to the body??? that means that your opponent will only recieve shots in one place... you will become too predictable and then susceptible to counters as he will be looking to defend against your headshots. Any good boxer will know that you go to the body first to slow down your opponent so that you can make the headshots count alot more in the later rounds.

  • @naturaldynamics , I never said not to though punches to the body just not left jabs. Like i said an upercut or a hook or a straight right is fine. A jab to the body won't hurt anyone.

  • @Seantorky3 i started jabbing to the body a while ago, because my trainer (who i spar with more than anyone else) is a counter puncher, jabbing to the body gives you a lot of openings, as well as that if you time it right and get some force into it you can throw your opponent off balance. in floyd mayweather jr's 3rd fight he even scored a knockdown with a jab to the body

  • @Seantorky3 A jab to the body does hurt and trust me it pays off to throw to the body as headshots can be recovered from much better than those to the body. Headshots take their toll on the boxer after the fight. You will find much more success throwing jabs than right hands or upper cuts to the body because you require a lot more "TIMING" to throw the uppercuts and rights. The opportunity to execute these shots never really present themselves unless you are creative.

  • I've had success with keeping my rear hand around my rear eye socket , begin aware, moving my head after the shot and firing. Thais have to worry about knees as well will put their rear hand in the middle of their forehead so they can guard either way. I've had success with both.

  • U know ur boxing well sir.

  • what about when he throws the left uppercut as your throwing your jab to the body and your hand is protecting from his right cross??? (or vice versa depending on weather he is orthodox or southpaw)

that's why I generally don't jab to the body haha

  • @67Sman no one hardly jabs to the body in amateurs. when you chop a tree, you work on the bottom, not the top.

punch the body, the opponents less prepared for it.

  • @TitanicPixel I punch to the body very regularly when I box, I just don't jab to the body, I just don't think its very affective, accept to catch him off guard maybe and to set up other punches, but you can do those with a jab to the head, and its much safer, easier to do, and useful for you.

  • @67Sman

it worked pretty damn well for mosley when he did that demo job on margarito

  • @Robstailey well some people use it and it works fantastically for them, just not me :P

  • nice vid but I am bending my knees and hide my head in my shoulder when giving a jab to the body rather than putting myself behind my glove.

If you bent your knees enough you can keep you right up and hide completely in your shoulder.

  • @Mario6275 ur more than likly to get knocked if ur hit in the chin which he is guarding. But a hook to the face wont be as devistating as one connecting with chin.

  • he master both southpaw and orthodox..

  • wow..someone who knows the correct way..all the other coaches ive seen teach this without the hand covering the chin

  • when you jab him to the body and you got the hand infront of your face what if he throws a hook to the face when you throw that jab to the body

  • anyone who's seen a mayweather jr. fight already knows the proper way to throw a jab to the body... good analysis though.

  • My boy~! Keep it up man, you're doing a great job.
