I still love this video. It's hilarious and partly true.

But, Avatar deserved to win for many other, better reasons.

The Hurt Locker was the weaker film, no matter what. Hate on Avatar's story all you want, but at least it DOES have a freakin story that's worth telling. They only chose THL for the fact that Bigelow is a woman. That's it!

...and I just don't see what is directorially so good about it. Bottom line: Cameron deserved Best Director, Avatar deserved Best Picture and Horner's Avatar score deserved Best Score. The Up score showed quality, but again I fail to see how anyone could dare put it above Horner's effort. It shouldn't matter which film is the underdog, or who likes who. Can no one show a little maturity? Until merit alone decides, I take the AA's as more worthless than the word of a random person on the street.

Awesome and hilarious. Correct on all counts about the Academy. I will likely never give a damn about them and their stupid little awards EVER AGAIN after that last go round with Avatar and The Hurt Locker. Overwhelming evidence of how political and corrupt the Academy is. Not that Hurt Locker isn't an excellent war film, it sure is that, but to compare its value as a creative work to that of Avatar is just flat wrong. Its depiction of Iraq is also far less realistic than hype implies...

Star Trek, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, nearly all of Pixar's movie, most of the Harry Potter movies, the first 2 terminator films have gotten better reviews than Avatar and there's a load more. The acdemy chose it too please fanboys.

I felt bad when Avatar didn't win Best Picture because I really enjoyed the film and it was amazing. I felt like I was taken on a journey to Pandora rather than just watching it, well on the plus side they did win something at the Oscars. Maybe they didn't want super special effects this year. How can you say avatar was great when it had absolutely no originality? It's whole concept is based on Dances with wolves (which is an excellent film). Even if you think avatar looked amazing (which I personally didn't), no matter how good looking a film is, if it's story and script are crap it's gonna be a rubish film. Sure the story was cliche and predictible,but in the end,it didnt bother me that much,because as an overall experience Avatar was great and that's thanks to Cameron's talent as a director.If Michale Bay for example would have directed Avatar, it would have been total failure .For me and so many others, Pandora was the most engaging fictional world since Peter Jackson's Middle Earth.

Havent seen Hurt Locker, so I cant judge, but I'm sure we can all agree that Avatar deserved the 3 Oscars it got?

I liked The Hurt Locker, but Best Picture? Nahh. Too many inaccuracies and unrealistic scenarios for me. Avatar or Inglourious Basterds should've come out on top, but oh well, Cameron for Best Director at least. And what's with Avatar losing Editing and Sound awards? Are you kidding me?
