Well brother yash, let me tell you the truth about Jizya which my muslim brother by saying that it is simply a tax is either unaware or may be he has not understood it.

jizya is not a tax but a punishment given to the people of the book (ie jews and christians) whom God sent a messenger and they rejected him and tried to kill and persecute him and the people who followed him.
