God they were so good live. . . . . Just mind blowingly tight. . . and loose all at the same time. . .Payne is such a great rock pianist. . . such percussive attack but still great melody. . . .
WOW....WOW....WOW.....I HAVENT HEARD THIS IN MANY YEARS.......THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC THAT SHOULD BE PLAYED MORE TODAY.......THIS WAS ROCK AND ROLL......YOU COULD FEEL THEIR MUSIC.....NOW I GUESS THIS COULD BE MY SONG NOW THAT I AM 40 SOMETHING:
George got more flak than lots of rockers. Like most California rock musicians. I heard aeons agon about Lowell's "sins". They are from Atlanta, so go figure. As good a singer, guitarist, and writer as anyone could ask from a dedicated rocker.
Phish covered "Waiting for Columbus" in Atlantic City for their Halloween "costume" set. Damn good set of music played by Phish that turned a lot of younger people onto the greatness of Little Feat. Check it out if you can. You won't be disappointed.
If they'd had to start from scratch without the genius of Lowell George they never would have been more than a footnote in rock history. Yet Payne and Barrere insisted on equal influence and drug the band down into hum-drumness. Damn you Bill Payne and your inept attempts at dragging the band into jazz-fusion. It wasn't enough to be an excellent musician lucky enough to be in a band with one of Rock's true geniuses?
Thin Lizzy, Kiss, Deep Purple are not in the so called Hall of Fame. That is indeed a shame! LF are the greatest injustice, waiting for Columbus should be enough.
Interesting set up: Sam plying drums! ... excellent slide playing from the late great! Its a trademark how Lowell did that clean high pitched notes at the end of solo!
@grafikfeat because the R&R Hall of fame is a bunch of bullshit. Its a political game and the guy who runs it is a complete asshole. Bet Justin Beiber will be inducted before Little Feat, or the Moody Blues
I miss these guys. Had the extreme pleasure to work security for them at one of their gigs in Pismo Beach, Cal. (central coast California) this same year. Got to meet em all. Great group of guys and very funny.
Nothing like the Feats to pick a guy up on a cloudy day in the Northwest.
i look away for a few moments & and then realize "hey !! ..... those licks are being played w/ a slide ??!! .... "
i'm no stranger to Lowell's playing but .... that was phenomenal !

@doylestownstew Played this tune recently in local nursing home, (seriously) AND they loved it ,ate it up in fact
Don't sweat it with the Seniors. Believe me, when I say, "only worry about the frustrated 55-65 olds".

This song makes you want to get some friends together, order a pizza, roll a fat 1 & party/dance the night away, & see what (who) you wake up with.
