  • Love it

  • One of these days (hopefully). we might all realize that there are ugly folk of all races. How disheartening it is hearing that (Machelle) from you. "BLACK MEN" don't own nasty attitudes, shit talking, disrespect and everything ugly! Ridiculous, stereotypical and shallow-minded thinking to believe that.

  • @gred828 But in African American man it's real ugly to the bone! they literally hate themselves and their women. It's the truth!

  • @MsKar1 well mskar1i can see clear what type of man you date just by your comment .do you know how many black man there are U.S? if you talk like that that means you don t know shit about man ( real man that is ) and if you keep going to club to find a good man then you shit out of luck mamy.remember men like their women to be honest and true to themself and to him ( us) i know you gonna say i m sexist but i ll say it anyways man and women are not equal but we are COMPATIBLE.2geter we make one

  • @MsKar1 maybe it's black women fault as mother!

  • @gred828 once again - it's a ridiculous concept. "They" don't hate themselves and their women. Don't you realize that the very things you are describing exists in ALL races? There is no such thing as any characteristic, such as you describe, that happens in any one race. It's unrealistic to believe that. Your mind has been poisoned with stereotypes and racism. The things you speak of is ugly to the bone NO MATTER THE RACE. What you have to understand is that the ugliness exists race wide

  • Machelle, my sister music is truly a banner that waves not only LOVE, but PEACE too hence last word in this song, and a small brush can make very long strokes. Honey let evrything just be what it will be, and I am proud to be dark skinned but that does not qualify me to be a ******. If we act like them then we be like them. PS it's not people that are 'ugly' as you put it, it's their nature that makes them unattracive. Take care and be well.

  • @micljnes I am not a black woman, i am latin..but those were beautiful words.

  • i love this song. it decribes the love i feel for my husband. I'd wish all women to find and man that treats them as good as mine does me.

  • Say so, young Brother! May God Richly Bless You and All You Do. Bless Him Lord.......

  • now i see why Heather got herself a white man..cause he probably was nice to her and didn't have a nasty attitude and talk shit and disrespect her like this young nygga did..I'M TIRED OF BLACK MEN!!

  • michelle3200

please dont be tired of black men

you havent met the right one yet.

I know this because i can be the right man for any woman if given the chance

  • Thats sweet lol!!

  • @vanceyaboydv man shut da fuck up wit dis black shit

  • @vanceyaboydv I'm tired of black men. I did nothing but spent the 40 yrs of my life just loving them and they are so weak! The time has come for us Sistahs to step out on them. We holding everything down for them and all they do is disrespect us. Especially, when they get into some money! They have to go and get a white girl, Asian woman or light skinned latino very few will come into the African American community and lift a sistah up. Black men are the only ones that do that sh*t!!!!!

  • @MsKar1 If you are looking in the clubs, bars, the bad boy type, or shall I say If you are accepting these type of guys, you are going for the wooden nickels, dey aint even worth a penney hon. Even on the job, some always go for that playa type guy. Its time for the ladies to step up and recognize the REAL BLACK MAN, not the man-boy.

  • @MsKar1 No disrespect, but it seems like you keep going for the same typr of men. If it walks like a duck or an ugly person of a man, quacks like a duck or ugly man type, guess what? He is an ugly person inside and you cant change that fact, so dont get swept up again and again...As Chant'e Moore says, 'theyre still good men out there'. Few I admit, but still some good ones.

  • @vanceyaboydv amen

  • @vanceyaboydv im with a black man and he's the bomb

  • You're racist.

  • @Machelle3200 race doesnt matter..just date who treats you well

  • @tilena211,

thats what im sayin. especially BW. we settle for the most bs because we will only date within our race (not all but a lot of us). expand your horizons. taste the rainbow.

  • @delyciouzxma I know that's right Sistah..It's time for blackwoman to stop bearing the burdens all alone and put these tired ass black men to our feet. Without us they can't survive. They only want to be with a sistah when they broke and got nothing going for them. Soon as they get up on they game they find themselves other than us sistahs to take up the totem pole with them...Time to give their asses fever. I never thought I will come to saying this, But, I'm tired just like you sistah!

  • @Machelle3200 nah u just hate dark skinned black men...derty sellout whore...just like she!!

  • It's nothing to find someone. It's your guardian angel at work to find one who gets you. It's a blessing form the archangels to find a man. It is the will of God Almighty to find a MAN who treats his woman/man with respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • where in the world are these men....??

  • avoiding you

  • This was in breakin all the rules and it was amazing! She is so beautiful!

  • i love this

  • this my favorite song by her

  • remind me on dont let go

  • This tune is a tune. I pray that God builds me up to be a man my woman can feel such a way for. Sisters you need brothers in the Lord. God bless.

  • @nyashamidzi Most of them got issues too! They hiding behind God doing wickedness..Majority don't even want women thAT go to church they want men..All those gay men up in the santuary...The devil is always busy.

  • @MsKar1 I concur but I did say brothers in the Lord, not those who seem to be. A tree is known by its fruits and just because the wheat and the tare grow together, it doesn't take away credit from the wheat no do the goats take away the glory from the sheep...

  • @nyashamidzi Gotcha!

  • Thank you Heather i want my man to be just like that! HE IS

  • i need a good man in my life for those girls that have a good man hold on to him you will never find him again

  • I know that's right.

  • Thank you Brother

  • we are a rare breed....

  • @criscocaliente, me too. or a woman. :)

  • I luv this song so much. This is what I want my husband 2 be like!!!!

  • you should love him for what he is

  • i love this song

  • "...the bad-times endurer..."

Now THAT'S what I'm talking 'bout!

  • Thank you Heather for singing a song about positive men. We are so used to hearing songs dogging men. Especially men of color. There are some good men out there. Men who work, never been to jail or on drugs. Men who take care of their families. Even men of color who do all these positive things, inspite what the media might betray. Not just the Obama Men but regular everyday men. This song should of been number 1 everywhere. If it was a negative song about men it would of been #1.

  • I bet you if this song was sung by some light-skinned girl, it probably would have been number one. Some of Alicia Keys songs that have become popular are about positive black men also.

  • true nuff

  • I've been a fan ever since I heard this my Ladie hipped me to it because she said it reminded her of me whenever she heard it I was flattered.

  • You must a good man then

Much blessings to you and your ladie

  • You have to strip down and damn near show yo nerrie azz in a video and sing such dumb dumb down lycris in order to make any real head way in tha game today... so sad

  • i understanmd that she is kinda overlooked. but u gotta understand. everybody is not gonna like this kind of music. everybody dont listen to the radio everyday and everyone dont watch tv everyday. so u cant diss the people whos making they money and doing what they wanna do, just make u the hater. aniwho i love this song. :D she is great

  • this is one of the best songs ever!! the radio is gay for not playing Heather's songs!!

  • believe me, gay radio plays her songs...the gays, they knows thier girl singers!

  • She doesn't get the airplay becasue radio doesn't want t hear anything positive. Radio wants booty songs, etc. Music that is actually sung from the heart is too threatening to radio. I stopped listen to commercial radio back in 2001. Garbage.

Heather is something special like Floetry, Vivian (Emotional Rollercoaster), Jill Scott, Ledisi, India Arie and a few other neo-soul artists.

  • I agree with you very much. Commercial radio is threatend by artist like Heather because she does bring it from the heart and not shaking her ass. She is more sexy without having to show ass and tits!!!

  • now india is my girl, but i want to listen to classics too. It isn't just neo-soul,its folks like smokey, gladys and the pips, the supremes, even some funk. the stuff with more imagination to the lyrics or lyrics period; thats what the radio ignores. the catchy-er the song the higher the ratings, 7 its all about the ratings.

  • She is so underrated! It's a real pity I don't understand how can people listen to non talented chick only because they perform naked and ignore vocalists such as Heather Headley, Tamia and their like. Too bad

  • So true!!

  • Classic! Something our grand daugthers can listen to when they meet a GOOD STRONG man in their lives...

  • This is the kind of MAN I want my son to grow up to be. With guidance, prayer and understanding, hopefully, he will be.

  • this song is the best because it tell what a guy has to be about to get a women

  • This is a very beautiful song!!! One of the best of 2002.

  • in-love with this song

  • love this song

  • this is very inpirational

  • yes that would be nice and I am all for getting past the racial issues but don't forget the world that we are living in where most people are too stupid to see past the color of your skin........I mean its just skin

  • 71% of whites voted for Barack. I'm white, my wife is black, can't we move beyond race and simply consider the person. Let's forget this foolishness that has defined our grandparents 200 years ago. Life is difficult and we need to pull together as a peolple if we wish to survive.

  • love it

  • bweno kiss

  • whatever dude. i'm black and asian, and my boyfriend is a blonde jew, and this song applies to him as much as any man, because he is unbelievable, and love is love.

  • I Love this song & her voice.

  • Why does everything have to be about race? I've listened to the song over and over and I havent heard any reference to a race. A man's a man whatever race!

  • who cares if shes married to a white man (the last time I check there are some fine white men too lol. if hes good to her the color of his skin shouldn't matter. shes singing it to her man I don't blame her!!!!!

  • That's my point exactly. Too much attention is given to race. If you love someone, race should not be an issue.

  • Love This Song

    ~DellySmith~

  • SHE HAS A SOULFUL VOICE

  • This song is such a "strong black man" song... It's right there with Angie Stones Brother. Love it.

  • Reply 2 Thickdyme137654

kinda lyk saying he knows about hard times, the scars bit aint 2 sure, mayb he didnt let it get the best of him and do 2 bad 2 end up with scars, lyk he remained a good kinda guy and didnt fight back on a level it would reflect bad of him later in life, I dont the scar fings is kinda tricky, lol

    hope dis kinda helps

  • i love dis song!

  • Silly me I thought she was talking Jesus

  • lol.

  • Very good song by a very talented singer and actress.

  • Love this song when my husband and I go out I always play this song for him, Because HE IS !!!!!!!!!

  • Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there. Especially to my Hubby. This song is for all the wonderful fathers out there.

  • business class.

  • i understand this song, been married for 18yrs w/ kids, there are some good men out there.

    thykedime,

    Hard knocks w/o scars?

It's what black men have to take and endure everyday in society and pretend as if nothing wrong.

  • I luv this song it is for all women who have a good man and fell that way about them.

  • hey.....but its true....male/female

  • What did she mean by... "he is the hard knocks knower without the scars to show ya" ?

  • probably no emotional scars....able to check emotion at any time.

  • she's talking about men who are "street smart" or know the ropes of the streets. someone who is not only book smart, but can handle issues from the streets. but even with this, he doesn't have the bullet holes and stab wounds to go along with it.

  • dis song is my husbands anthem for every man who does rite by his queen

  • people calling heather a hupocrite cause she married a white man but no where in this song did she specifically say white or black man if your a black man and you can relate to this song stand up and be recognized if your latino man and can relate thats good if your a white man and can relate thats good too and so on....

  • I agree, I played this song for my boyfriend and hes white, and he even said "This song is about a black man loving his girl and treating her right :(" And I told him the same thing, so I agree with you

  • I think this song can go for ANY good man, no matter what race. There are many strong men out there, not just strong black ones

  • She might have black guys in here, but she married to a white guy.

  • oh yeah that's true lol .. oh man.. how does one take this? lol.. I think she is talking about all MAN.. either white, black, gray lol orange or salmon pink ... (HE IS) is your man.

  • Seems like in a world where black men take alot of flack its good to give props to the real good ones. The dutiful husbands, honest boyfriends, loving fathers and awesome black men.

  • Donney64 - well spoken

Love love the song touches the heart...

  • i agree totally

  • we a black men must return to the black pride that, the 1960's through the early 1980s . this pride would not allow the disrepect of our women nor our children. we sought higher learning and the uplifting of our fallen brothers through love and knowledge of self. knowing that your actions affected other men of color. we governed ourselves accordingly in public and at home. This song stimulates that black man/ warrior pride. i will all ways be her fan.

  • i luv this

  • Yes, we Brothas do exist!!!

  • not a big Heather Headley fan, but I am fan and of luv and uplifting black men and women and I absolutely luuuuvvv this song. I don't know a brotha like this, but that doesn't stop me from KNOWING that they DO exist (but where, lol). Brothas and sistahs we have 2 respect each other and show each other that we KNOW we are wonderful!

  • Your not a fan I mean I dont wanna fight with you but wow i dont know a person that doesnt like her.

How do you feel about Vivian Green???

This song is just real people need to losten to this!!!!

  • where???

  • I LOVE this song because she was talking about me ladies, you feel me?

  • shame...that means you are taken right :)?

  • i like this song. thanks.

  • Thank you!!! I love this song.
