  • He only gave them one cheeseburger, and that is nothing because in the 70's when this was filmed kids just like in the 50's and 60's were running and playing around all day nonstop, without gasp cell phones to know where they were, and they were fine, so only one cheeseburger was not going to do them anything at all, just the meal and the good taste. A man in the 50's could live in only hamburgers and cheeseburgers and other types occasionally and be very healthy, he was always active working.

  • Say with me : JUNK FOOD !

  • you can say cheeseburger without smiling

  • Why didn't they just eat Mayor McCheese?

  • THIS IS SUCH A LEGENDARY COMMERCIAL I MET RONALD MCDONALD LAST YEAR AT THE STACK CONVENTION VERY NICE I ATE ALOT THERE!!

  • The McDonald's Corporation of American, or NAMBLA.

  • I can has Nghtmares?!

  • @mollyvision Keep this between us, and you can have a cheeseburger.

  • I wonder if they ever looked under the floorboards of this particular Ronald McDonald's house?

    0.o

  • The pirate looks like the puppet from Candle Cove.

  • wow look at ronalds fro!

  • some of you people are seriously ill!!! i mean that in the best way..... damn!

  • My conclusion! the side effects of dropin' of some double dipped LSD in the late 60s.

  • the hamburger should have been blurred out because of the "nose" he had. Mc.Donald`s " bribing your children with cheeseburgers for their picture since the early 60's!"

  • @gokartbuyer That would only work on me with BURGER KING double cheeseburgers.

  • cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

  • There is something not quite right about this...

  • Cap'n Crook is Sonny Bono out on a drunken bender, damn he won't stay sober !

  • Mcdonaldland has a Funky national anthem!

  • AFTER ALL THESE YEARS...DOES ANYBODY THINK THAT CLOWN IS FUNNY?

  • great, now im going to have nightmares from watching this commercial. Freaky shit!

  • If only Captain Crook was in Chicago and had a Greek accent when he said Cheeseburger three times!

  • Can't we see and old tv commercial or tv show today WITHOUT automatically thinking about bad health, pedophilia, safety, etc, etc, etc. It's sad how vulgar, frightened and wimpish we have become.

  • @63gstone You took the words right out of my mouth. It makes me sick to read comments on a perfectly innocent video and have some dimwit try to turn it into a racist or child molesting type of thing.

  • What? No: "I'm lovin' it?"

  • Those burgers looked flat.

  • it souds like the 1st kid is saying cheese booger............lol

  • I.... Smiled when i said cheeze Burger? AGHHOAWDD!!

  • he isnt as creepy in this ad

  • ummmmmmmmmm WTF!!!!

  • This Ronald McDonald gives me nightmares.

    He did it :D

......wheres my cheese burger dude i smiled :l your greedy why do they get one and whos that giant burger and why cant they eat him

  • i wished they still did that :)

  • OMG...how that scary!!!! if i were a kid seeing that i would be deeply frightened. UGLY AND STUPID PROPAGANDA STUFF MADE BY MCDumbass. ....spit....

  • i think the modern adverts r more retarded then this

  • lol the kid said cheesebooger

  • It was about 1972 when my town had Ronald McDonald fly in by Helicopter and be lowered into the McDonalds where people could have their picture taken with Ronald (for free mind you)...

Our radio station was covering it and me and a buddy were screwing around and we had some Kazoo's and we were humming the McDonalds song and the guy on the radio yells 'will you shut those god damn kids up'

His profanities made it over the air and it was great fun.... . no big deal.. but a fun memory..

  • CHEEEEEESEboogrrrr!

  • :)

    :)

  • *Pukes*

  • CHEEEEEEZEburger.

  • what the hell????

  • this is freakin SCARY!!!!!!!!!

  • the old comercials used to be about smiling, now it's ba ba ba ba ba i'm lov'n it! the first one of those had very wierd singing ducks, and it was retarted.

  • wow captain crook i rememeber him

  • Judging by the firey red tint, I'd say that this poor little piece of film is yet another unfortunate victim of the dreaded 'Eastmancolor Curse'.

I kinda like the music, it's like psychedelic funk.

    "In McDonald's Land, our McDonald's..."

  • mayor mc cheeses nose looks funny. it keeps bobbing up and down

  • That's somebody who later became famous playing Ronald, I just can't place it.

  • King Moody

  • Step up and MAKE me smile, propaganda clown!

  • He's scarier than hell

  • Psychedelia sure got co-opted quick.

  • Lmfao!!

  • I bet the kids are hostages! ):

  • Ha! And you wonder where fat kids come from!

"Well Sonny, it all started in '72 when Ronald McDonald started handing out free cheeseburgers..."

  • Now its Mickey D's and ghetto garbage commercials

  • liking the 60sesque music in the background

  • Why didn't they just eat Mayor McCheese??? They could chew on that fat-head for weeks!!

  • lol..

Mayor McCheese's nude lifeless body was recently found in a cheap hotel down south

  • Smile and say cheeseburger. Smile and say three heart-valve stents.

  • lmaoo

  • If you were Mayor McCheese, wouldn't you feel a bit odd about watching people eating Cheeseburgers? I would.

Also, if Mayor McCheese was also paid in cheeseburgers, wouldn't that be considered canibalism. Think about it.

  • haha hronald looks so fake at the end when he is telling the camera to say 'cheeseburger' ahaha!

  • kid goes to mcdonads

    CHEESEBURGER!

    thats be $47.50 kid

  • its so funny how they didnt show the pirate smiling because his mask wouldn't allow him to. They just said "He did it!"

  • Why was Ronald paying kids in cheeseburgers to take their picture?

  • @donniebriggs Cause he wants to make them obese

  • @RayRoark2009 I always thought Ronald Mcdonald was Micheal Jackson in disguised to see more little boys, whats up with the color, why is it red-ish looking?!

  • @shayminfan12345 The commercial print has become reddish due to age. Film stock has a tendency to lose actual color tones as it ages.

That's why the film studios create new prints for anniversary releases of classic films. Snow White's 1987 reissue is one example, The Ten Commandments 1972 reissue is another example.

  • @donniebriggs

    Cause he is a perv!

  • In this commercial, Ronald McDonald is King Moody, who played Shtarker in "Get Smart"!

  • I remember Ronald coming to our town parade when I was 5. Even at that age, I could tell he was a fake and not the real one from TV.

  • I remember this was a promotional thing McDonalds did--after this commercial they would advertise where and when Ronald would be and go have a picture taken with him(and get a cheeseburger too!)

  • what a" fro" Old MacDonald had ! Sad the kids had to be forced to smile in order to be fed. No wonder us 40 somethings are so screwed up in the head !

  • Holy shit my dad could have seen this commercial in his childhood!

  • What's so odd about that? Kids and commercials don't just exist in the here and now.... :-)

  • I know its just that I find it odd that my dad saw Ronald McDonald as he was growing up as so as I did.

  • wew, so ridiculous. but good promotion

  • Hmmm...an oddly dressed clown taking pictures of several children, without parental supervision, and then feeding them life-threatening junk food.

  • In america

  • @chrisman737 at least he isn't throwing hot dogs into the mix

  • @chrisman737 life-threatening maybe a bit of an overstatement. Its not health food, but you can eat three a day and still be under your daily allotted fat, calories, salt, etc.. Its just not something you want to make a habit of.

  • @chrisman737 Yeah, but back then children used to play alone in the streets without no cell phones and or other technology to track where they are and these children played all day so assuming no more that 1 cheeseburger only once in the whole day is not bad, and besides back then people only went a few scatterd times a year (not exceeding 5) to fast food restaurants, and people also worked more around the house.

  • What's up the the nose on the Hamburger???? LMAO

  • He was a heavy drinker.

  • smile...kids..heres a cheeseburger, just dont tell your parents about the photo shoot.

  • I would cry is I was a small child

  • the mayor mc cheese guy's nose kinda looked... wrong

  • I was waiting for Gumby to get on the set and kick Ronald in the McNuggets.

  • Whoever made this was baked.

  • I think Grimace is the model for "Patrick" on Spongebob Squarepants...lol

  • Will Ferrell?

  • what I would give to be ablr to go back and be 6 years old again... I remember 71 and 72 like it was yesterday, there was much more of a purity and innocence..things have really changed (for the worse)

  • I hate you Ronald McDonald.

  • Ronald McDonald is hot. What are you talking about?

  • Man, I remember these commercials from Saturday Morning Cartoon TV... Brings back lots of good memories...

  • how? some weird clown trying to fill you with fatty cheeseburgers

  • Better than MJ filling six year old buns with fifty year old meat.

  • What is up with Mayor McCheese's nose?

  • LMAO!! yeah it was funny

  • this was out the year i was born :)

  • lol the hamburger guy's nose wiggled at 00:14 :D

  • Mayor McCheese's nose scares me.

  • it is funny though, imagine if it was his dick wigging O_O

  • Captain Crook?!

  • Yep, Captain Crook, along with Mayor McCheese, and the evil shake loving Grimace (no joke), and others that were eventually phased out.

  • That's funny...

I don't remember Grimace (Ronald's Autistic Friend) being evil because I wasn't alive in 1972.

  • they dont make commercials like this anymore.

  • ronald hasn't changed much in 36 years...

  • CHEESEBURGER!! hey,wheres my cheeseburger ? :<

  • I bet when this ad aired (back in 1972) it was extremely successful!

I'm sure a lot of housewives/mothers saw this commerical and immediately drove their kids to McDonalds..never fully realizing the subliminal effect that the size, shape, and constant twitching of Mayor McCheese's nose had on them? LOL!!

  • my mom worked at mcdonalds once like 20 years ago

  • @TheSameYellowToy I worked there too. Like 20 years ago. I still have my uniform and it still fits!

  • Smile and say, "Obesity!"

  • Ronald McDonald seemed like such a nice guy back then, not like the creepy guy they have voicing him/playing him now.

  • Amen. It's a wonder kids aren't afraid of clowns like they should be these days. Clowns in the 60's, 70's, and 80's were actually decent people who could elicit smiles and laughter. Now? I shudder to think.

  • Now? Can't even remember the last time I've seen Ronald in a McDonald's commercial :-(

  • wow i love the old commercials... they make me laugh at how much things have changed!

  • THat pirate looked like a poo...how could u smile when u look like that!

  • That was a smile?

  • He has a fro.

  • the burger things look scary as hell

  • I can has cheezeburger?

  • i used to be scared to the burgler. lol everytime we'd go up to the drive through he'd be standding there by the window...he looked scary! But i was also scared of Santa lol.

  • i was scared of santa till i was 8 years old rofl

  • Nice Commercial!

    PA-cheeseburger ka naman!

  • I think the guy playing Ronald McDonald was Willard Scott...

  • No, it's Bob Brandon

  • King Moody

  • "in McDonald's land, in McDonald's...

    in McDonald's land, in McDonald's..."

  • The guy playing Ronald sounds VERY familiar to me. I don't know if it's because I heard his voice so much as a kid or because he's a famous guy now but he sounds really familiar.

  • King Moody..

  • wtf?

  • these mcdonalds ads suck the best ones were the very first ones when ronald was half man, half food (search first mcdonalds commercial on youtube) and they had the best jingle EVER: "He's Ronald McDonald, the hamburger happy clown! McDonalds drive-in restaurant is his favorite place in town" those were the best

  • That one was just scary! I'd say that Larry Anderson has been the best so far.

  • If you think that was scary I suggest searching "ghost car" and tell me how that turns out.

  • My Mom showed me that video and it didn't scare me at all.

  • You think the old mcdonalds ads are scarier than ghost car?

    Interesting

  • Yes, yes I do.

  • You think the original mcdonalds ads are scarier than ghost car?

    Interesting

  • You think the original mcdonalds ads are scarier than ghost car?

    Interesting

  • he reminds me of dustin diamond

  • LMAO yeah he does look like him :D

  • I've eaten so many McCheeseburgers since the 70s that my arteries must be clogged!

  • priceless!

  • is that guy pirate bay?

  • LOL RONALDS HAIR IS PUFFY LIKE THE 70`S

  • hopefully the photos turning red wont be lost. got a bunch like that

  • ronald's bribing the children just to take a picture with a burger.

  • The fast fading film that turns red! Even my 1979 baby pictures are all red like this now.

  • I LOVE THE MUSIC !! HA HA !! It is kind of like how they're putting Thug-Rap into McDonald's commercials today! lol!

  • Yay! Hippie McDonalds!

  • Ronald has always scared me!

  • um why would anyone smile over McDonalds?

  • REPORTER: mr mayor? how do you deal with the fact that arnold is a republician and that you have a cheeseburger for a head?

MAYOR MCCHEESE: its a birth defect!! Shut up!

    LOL!

  • Oh and by the way, Ronald McDonald's puffy red afro is just TOO much!

  • Mayor McCheese's floppy nose is hilarious, LOL! Those 70's ads sure were...get ready...CHEESY!

  • ya wonder how one with a giant cheeseburger for a head could get through doors! let alone get up off a chair! LOL!

  • lol that was funny when his nose was flopping like that

  • OMG!!!!111!

    that is REALLY creepy

  • smile and say: cancer on your kidney!

  • Creepy..I hate clowns plus i hate McDonalds! They do NOT make good food! But i guess that's just my opinion. But i guess if you like Mcdonalds,Then your probably gonna be really fat one day arent ya pal! ^^ (Well if you eat their cheeseburgers like everyday, then you will!)

  • I don't eat their food, but I know, even if a person ate there every day, or even twice a day, they wouldn't get fat. It takes more then that... To gain a pound, you'd need to gain (I'm going off the average age) around 5000 calories, because due to RMR, you'd burn off 2000, give or take a few, from sittin' on your ass, doin' nothin'.

  • oh shut up

  • amen! i see uve seen super size me!

  • you deserve a break today.

  • why is it all red?

  • The red you see is Magenta, a result of a color faded image or video.

  • I was born in 1972 and I just love these old one's ;O)

  • Reminds me of a joke my buddy told me,That Ronald got kicked out of McDonald's because He was caught sticking his Quarter Pounder into Wendy's hot and juicy...

  • ha ronald is classic.

  • how funny would it be if ronald was really fat and over weight.. of course if he was real im sure he would be
