@TheUmbrellaCorpX yeah i guess its just really hard for me to imagine. ive never actually had a problem with the battery pack. i dont think i actually touch it ever. but i think the thumbstick layout is more natural, the face buttons are better and more recognizable (cause their brightly colored) and the triggers are much better. the triggers on ps3 dont feel natural at all. i mean R1 is shoot, and thats a button not a trigger. R2 is the trigger and pressing that feels unnatural

@TheUmbrellaCorpX theres also the issue of the weight and size of the controllers. the xbox controller is bigger and heavier than the ps3 one, which i think makes it feel more solid, real, and sturdy. i will admit that i like that the ps3 controllers are all rechargeable and have motion control though. the dpad might be better too, but that doesnt actually matter at all.

Broke down and modded a spare PS2 controller into a 360 controller.

At no point does it look better than this masterpiece.

Seriously, I still want one. I hate the ergonomics and the battery pack panel of the 360 controller. I mean, come on Microsoft. Nobody would look at you any differently if you copied the Ps2 controller.

Nobody yelled at Nintendo for their "classic" controller.. Hard to call it "classic" if it's the first time they've put that design on the market, eh?

@Jonzilla37 I actually do prefer the Dual Shock controller highly. I am WAY more accurate with it and since it's smaller, I feel like I can keep my fingers arched and ready more comfortably.

But XBL... is just soo much better than PSN and the difference in graphics is pretty negligible(in fact, it's practiacally nonexistent on cross platform titles).

So I will remain an xbox player, but I do really love the DualShock.

PS Controller was was based on something in between the Genesis and SNES, you could even date it back to the NES or even the Atari 2600. It's impossible to have a perfect controller as clearly there are people disagreeing with the fact that it's inferior to the 360 and there is nowhere near 1 billion controllers (if you're gonna generalize, atleast use million) sold so far across all 3 consoles and this is coming from a guy who's stuck with sony yet prefers a 360 controller

The PS controller was made to the human hand(constant), hence why it has never been changed. The genesis 3-button controller might be the closest ancestor, as it had a beginning formation of handle grips. I prefer playstation, because I've had 3 generations of it in my hand. I can play w/ Xbox just as fine, but I'm speaking on behalf of the facts.

There's nothing similar between the N64 and PSone's controller that isn't solely unique to the PS1 that wasn't in the SNES or Genesis. The GameCube and PS controllers have the most tiny similarities and nothing from the PSone was used as a basis for the gamecube. Wii and PS controllers are nothing alike. The Xbox controller (the fatty one which made the new model which made the 360 model) was most likely based off the Dreamcast (which was based off the Saturn etc.).

Less than 2 decades is a little young to say that something has reached the pinnacle of its engineering. The mouse is god knows old how old, yet theres been improvements of its general shape with different ergonomic designs that fit the hand better and side buttons etc. yet most companies still feel that there's no need to have that basic mouse shape. That mouse shape however is nowhere near the pinnacle of its engineering as many other designs are far superior

I'm skeptical but I'll take your word on the >1 billion controllers sold (wouldnt mind a link :P) . It's a little hard to model something. The N64 was basically a SNES controller with 3 hand grips, heck the PS1 was a copy (same d-pad and button location) of the SNES excluding the analogue sticks and 2 hand grips.

I've had 3 generations of it in my hand as well yet I feel the gamecube has the best controller in the world, that personally suits me the best.
