Luigi Benedetti is the titular organist of the Duomo of Milan and this beautiful organ is featured on Priory PRCD 427 (Great European Organs No.38 The Tamburini Organ of Milan Cathedral). The organ is constructed on both sides of the cathedral and has a 64 feet acoustic stop. If you like this track then you will find the CD interesting listening. The organ is certainly distinctive and the reverb in such a large space is demonstrated admirably by Prof. Benedetti.
@noteworthy99 I have the same recording. It is an outstanding recording! However, I was thrown for a loop when I saw a 24' pedal stop! I have never seen one before or since. I can only conclude it was meant to be chorus stop to help fill the pedal division with more sound.
I'm an organist not very long but I like hearing new pipe organs and this is one of the most amazing ones I have heard. I don't know the person playing it but I can tell they are a professional
I have the CD you speak of...and fell in love with Petrali, got every piece of his music i could find...which was no easy feat! Lefebure-Wely is my favorite and Petrali is now a close second
Indeed a magnificent instrument!!! I've heard it many times but everytime it leaves me stunned!!! Unfortunately Benedetti is not teaching organ anymore at the Conservatory, and it's truly a pity because even at 75 years old he's in my opinion the best italian organist, 3 months ago he played in a recital Alain's Litanies, Bach's P&F "St. Anne", Mendelssohn's Sonata VI and Janacek's "Ostinato" and he didn't missed a single note!!! By the way he studied with Arnaldo Galliera's son, Alceo.
Wonderful music and organ. Organ somewhat reminiscent of the voicing of Cavaille coll?

Nice music - never heard of Galliera or Petrali. I think I prefer Galliera's music though; would his be more 'serious' in general?

Wonderful voices on this organ.
2:50 - 3:55 is phenomenal!
This is the first recording I've heard of this organ, and I like it! I understand it's 255 ranks? Enormous!
