  • DR.RON PAUL

  • It's time the DNC think hard what they will do about this democratic election process, and change it, if they want voters to stick with their party. How fair is it that poor people have to give their money to this process just to ensure that the right presidential candidate is in place? This is all a money making venture for the politicians, media, etc, whilst the poor man in the street goes hungry. This is capitalistic democracy, where only the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

  • Superdelegates are like yoyos. Most of them are disloyal and selfish politicians who are only voting for the winner to gain something. Once they make a choice it should be a final choice, whether in public or at the convention. They should not be allowed to change their minds, that is why voting at the convention is the best thing for them. The delegates should be respected during the election, because their people's voices have been heard.

  • I think that the Democratic party need to revamp their election process and do away with the superdelegates. There should be only a number of uneven delegates allotted for all the states, which get a chance to vote, and the presidential candidate who wins the most votes becomes the nominee. If there's a tie, then the DNC can have that final vote for the presidential candidate, which will be a vote fair and square. Superdelegates are a waste of time, and have no real value in this election proces

  • I'm not surprised that most male superdelegates will vote for Obama. This is all about sexism, and there're men out there who're worried about a woman becoming the president. What are they be afraid of? Give Hillary a chance to prove that she's more capable of doing the job. She has the backing of millions of voters. Don't their voices count? The DNC reminds us of the government of Zimbabwe who's as corrupted as you can get. Something is fishy & the voters will not let this pass so easily.

  • get rid of superdelegates! Its unfair and undemocratic!

    Hope those guys feel special.

  • This concept of "superdelegates" has to go. The DNC should hold a series of regional elections and get the job done. Today's approach is HIGHLY inefficient, it does NOT fairly represent the will of the people and it stinks of corruption. DNC - please change NOW because you have NO HOPE of changing when candidates are all ready tainting the system a year+ before the primaries....

  • There is no such thing as the Democratic Party. You don't call Republicans, Republics either. It's called the Democrat Party...

I really get tired of correctly government educated people.

  • There is no such thing as the Democratic Party. It's just the Democrat Party. You wouldn't call Republicans, Republics would you?

  • So now its up to the "Supers"! After what we have been through! The primaries and caususes, months of campaigning and to note the amount of money (people's money from donations) that have been spent! All comes down for nothing..if you alone, the Supers", will decide for who will be your Pres. Nominee. for November. "Of the Supers", "By the Supers", and "For the Super". VOTE "OBAMA" I Highly recommend.

  • Politics IS a business, he who has the most money and connections wins, the idea that voters elect those in power is an illusion, considering the options given are put there by the elite, in a 2 party system that essentially have the same ideals, the only places they differ are on trivial matters. both parties want to go to war with Iran, both want bigger government, both want more control. they only carry on the illusion of separateness because it riles people up to donate more money.

  • So, super delegates virtually eliminate the need for all this state by state voting.

  • i dont know obama is destroying himself and comiting politcal suicide by all this controvsey

  • right on

  • superdelegetes are stupid made up by stupid democrats barack obama is destroying himself no one likes hilary clinton because of stupid things shes done and no one wants mccain to win because he is a crazy man who is on the fence but we'll have a bad four years and the us the republicans we'll come in with mitt romney, newt gingrich and rudy gulini and save america just you watch great job of explaing superdelegetes by the way

  • Democrats use superdelegates because they are racist. They can't trust their minority base to vote "correctly".

  • It's SO ironic that the democrats have created this un-democratic system. The people vote and elect delegates. But wait! We have party cronies and pooh-bahs called super delegates who will be able to over-rule the voters and select a candidate other than the one the voters picked. I think they did this because the democrats have a horrible record of picking candidates too far to the left who can't win a general election.

  • It because they are racists that can't trust their own voter base.

  • "We must have faith in the masses and we must have faith in the Party. These are two cardinal principles. If we doubt these principles, we shall accomplish nothing."

  • The superdelegate system is terrible. It's ironic that the superdelegates are unique to the "Democratic" party. I've made a pledge that says when the Democratic convention comes around if the superdelegates nominate a candidate that goes against how the people voted... I will leave the democratic party. You can sign the pledge at invisibleleader(dot)blogspot(dot)com and help support Democracy. The list of supporters will be presented to the DNC. Let's show our numbers!

  • "superdelegates" mean Hillary Clinton buys the election. Do you think anyone in the media will say one single word about her "stealing" the election? NOPE! Just watch.

  • And who do you think Hillary & Bill have been courting and bribing for months? Mark my words, regardless how many delegates Obama gets or how popular he is with the electorate, the Clinton's will buy the election.

  • ONE person ONE vote. The superdelegates have more than ONE vote. Democratic?

  • No not Democratic. What's your point? Parties aren't part of the government, they can elect their representatives any way they want. Anybody that thinks there's anything Democratic about Democrats any way is dreaming.

  • The superdelegates thing is so anti-democratic. It's elitist BS. Listen to the will of the people. This is why the Democratic Party keeps giving us establishment candidates.

No more Bushes - No more Clintons - the people want CHANGE!

  • I hate that we have delegates. We have the technology to award the presidency to the person that won the popular vote. Look at the disaster we are in now. If it's democracy and I sit on a board of directors. The majority of the board voted yes to something, then that's the way it should go right? The way it is now, the majority of the vote is yes but because three of the superboard members disagree, the vote turns to "no" and the Supers get their way. Why even vote?

  • and this is the party that got so upset about vote counting in 2000?

  • ill be so pissed if the superdelagates decide the nominee for the Democratic party. isn't this supposed to be a democracy?

  • I agree SPORTCARZ,

Even more sad is the fact that they make these 800 people sound like they hold the keys to our very future in thier hands. I tell you what we all see what's happening in this election, if this continues you'll see exactly what our generation is capable of so far as these superdelegates go. Cause if they sway this one unfairly in either direction it's likely every one of them can be voted out of thier jobs by the american people. With enough voices we can do anything

  • It's pretty bad how we developed a country based on the people's choice and say in government, and now it has become strictly just what congress wants. It is said that in this election Popular vote will pretty much no effect it will heavily be on electoral college as seen in President Bush 2000 win.

  • Our President has always been elected by the electoral college, not popular vote. Popular vote does not elect the president and never has. When you place your vote on a ballet for the candidate of your choice you are NOT voting for that candidate, you ARE voting for that candidates electors for the state you are voting in.

  • If you remember it was Al Gore (Democrat) that was complaining he won the popular vote but didn't win the electoral college, and yet the Democrats themselves don't even use 100% popular vote to choose their own candidate.

  • You do realize that there are NO SUPERDELEGATES in the general election, you do know that right? ...right?

  • But the super delagates choose whom go to the major election so even if Barack has more delgates in the primary The super delegates can go as they wish n go for clinton (jus n example)

  • Illinois has 32 superdelegates, each one's vote equals 13,000 regular voters.

0.000007 percent of the voting population (superdelegates) has 19.6 percent voting power in the 2008 Democratic Primary.

  • I'm confused, do they change the rules, so the elite win and the people lose. Between the corrupt voting mavhines, and the "superdelegates" the people can't win.

  • No, they didn't "change the rules". Political parties are private associations. It used to be that We The People had no voice in the candidate selection process. Effectively, there were superdelegates and nothing else.

Gradually the process opened up, but the party wanted to keep some control so that the decision wasn't made by people who never were Democrats except for at primary time. It only makes sense for governors & senators to be delegates.

  • I do not agree with anything you say.

Political parties are private, this is not the "skull and bones" elections should be decided by the people, I love my country, but, don't trust any one in this government, our system is broken, and with people who think like you I know why, I might be confused, but, I'm not stupid.

It sound like this "horse race" is going in Obamas favor, where I'm from Obama got 27.000 votes, and Clinton got 9.000 votes, Obama won all the states this weekend.

  • no, you see, they changed the rules to take votes away from the elite.

PURE superdegelates were what the rules were before, remember?

  • Elected by the people for the people?

    What a scam.

  • First of all I don't think the Democrats have ever made the claim that their candidate is "elected by the people for the people." They can elect their candidate however they want.

Secondly we are a government "of the people, by the people, for the people" that does not necessarily translate to every branch of government, both state, and national, all political parties, all laws, what color your neighbor's decides to paint their house, etc. being decided on by 100% popular vote of the country.

  • You're right in what you say; and yet I hope that the Democratic folk, overall, will be fair even if they don't HAVE to be fair.

OTOH, I'm sure they'll be "fair" if Obama is waaaay ahead in both popular and regular delegates.

  • superdelegates huh...they always gotta leave a gap for corruption.

  • it's not the real election, all the primary is is the main political parties choosing who they will endorse.

If you had been listening to the video, it use to be all super delegates, and no elected delegates

  • just cus it used to be worse doesn't mean it's ok now... democracy? what democracy?

  • It's not democracy, Hell! it's not even a part of our government yet, it's all within the party.

  • Ok i had been listening to the video and that is well known. the super delegates were introduced in 1982. I was saying it leaves a gap for corruption...corruption can exist in the primary as well. To say voting machines cant be rigged 4 the primaries is dumb. Check ur info b4 judging people.

  • first off, i never said that voting machines can 't be rigged, or at least not here, but while we're on the topic...

It's just as easy to rig the voting machines as it is to rig paper ballots, there are a few mechanisms put in place to avoid such rigging(both mechanical and policy)

But the main point is, the democratic party is not a function of the government, and therefore doesn't really have to answer to citizens like the actual government does.

  • look man im saying that even if the people vote for one candidate to win the superdelegates in the end choose who becomes the nominee especially in a race this close. There can still be corruption in a single political party. Many people would have Obama over Clinton including me but the superdelegates can turn the tide according to who they choose. thats the corruption.

  • Good historical review.

Will the Superdelegates nominate Hillary if Obama wins? If so there will be a major revolt of "we the people."

  • There will be a major revolt of "we the people that voted for Obama but have no idea how the Democrats actually nominate their candidate". If you don't like the idea of superdelegates then change your party affiliation to one that doesn't have them, or petition the removal of superdelegates from the Democrat's candidate selection process.

  • something tells me they aren't going to fight crime or fly...something else tells me they're going to screw us.
