Yes those were the days you could tap the ball forward if you didnt have a marker.I can remember Wally not facing square and tapping the ball to the side but i cannot remember the rule at the time in relation to this.Hey i do remember most of the ground was like a concrete dust bowl.Players these days would strike rather than play on it.
The game with Ayliffe and Regan was the play off for 5th v St George at the SCG in 1983.Tom Arber got sent off in the same game.Ring any bells?
What was Laurie Freier thinking playing you at fullback against Qld Country in a midweek cup game in 1984?Was the ball you dropped over the line against the combined Brisbane side that would have won the Roosters the Panasonic cup final really foward?Did Terry Regan and Royce Ayliffe come to blows after conceding a easy try on their own goal v St George in a semi final play off for 5th? All these things that still haunt me.....
@anthony6410 - these are the three things you remember from my 12 year career.. ha ha..
firstly... I don't know what Laurie Freier was ever thinking.. I didn't particularly like the man and apparently he didn't particular like me either.
2ndly.... was it forward?... that's what the ref called so in his eyes, yes it was forward. Had it not been forward and I dropped the ball, I would have had to bury my head.
3 minutes, 14.5 k's? Horrie, that's flying! (you sure you're not feeling the after effects of running off some Royce Ayliffe dud ball?) Looking trim by the way
not right now, but if you hook me up on skype then we might be a chance. by the way, I might be cheap but I'm not free. After all these years I'm sure the roosters wouldn't want some old hasbeen at their club. But thanks for the invite
Okay then Horrie if somebody is gonna ask You, Then I'll ask You. "Can You be at The Bondi Junction Club House to announce Your Availability". The Eastern Suburbs (Hub of The Universe) needs ya Mate.
Hey Kevin, Have You ever considered or been offered the oppurtunity to train and condition todays young Roosters ? We've not seen much of you recent years and would be an inspiration to the team and The Fans. I know you are living in the USA but you must be feeling a bit home sick for The Mighty Roosters. Also I never forget at one match you were going for the try line against Parra. The Fullback tackled you and you were crunched into the footy posts. But you still got up and played on heroic.
@jorologo I would consider it if somebody would ask me. Yeah I also remember being tackled into the goal posts at the Old Sports Ground, but it was against Cronulla and one of the two players who tackled me was an ex team mate of mine, Terry Murphy.
Kevin Hastings 239 games for the mighty Roosters, WOW your a machine mate for 54yrs old.....
Awesome to meet you at Henson park during the 100yr Easts celebrations, you signed my 80's Roosters jersey (I waited 20yrs for that) now my pride and joy.
Thanks for the memories mate, looks like your doing good things these days ...good luck!

-- a question for you.. do you think Wally Lewis played the ball correctly when he scored in the same game?
3rdly - I'm not sure what you're referring to and what year with Terry and Royce?
Thanks for the commentary.. I enjoyed it. Sorry these things haunt you, but surely the state of the Rooster's play now, has to haunt you more..
Cheers,
Horrie
