well, chill dudes! i think he better sang it in his own version, to differnetiate it from Bowie's that he said he respects. he puts good effort and it's a quite engaging performance, we gotta admit. well, my opinion anyways
Good observation. But I think he was actually using only one mike-the one in his hand. It is likely that he just had a vigorous dance number that was better done with hand-free mike. When he went on with the vocal demanding song Cat People, he preferred the handheld mike for better sound quality but kept the hand-free mike on. Singers don't need two mikes to compensate for weak vocal. They only have to turn up the amplifier.
Im not sure what version of Bowie´s cat people are you actually watching to be honest, but the one Im talking about(watch?v=gprIR991EkY) is from 1983 so I dont think his music was changed by then to old fans tastes. To that performance I give a 10 , his voice is perfect with his typical deep sound and the staging is simply amazing, also check from minute 1:44 to 2:02 in Leo´s performance, he can barely hold his breath .

You are probably right that Bowie did not change the style of the live version of this song from master316 to suit old fans' taste as I thought but he did change the style of the song with touches of jazz in his vocal which makes the song less gothic and more showmanship like. Compare Bowie's live verion with his original version in Louis-Cat People, you can tell that the original version is more powerful.
Don't understand why you say Leo can barely hold his breath from 1:44 to 2:02. There is supposed to be a pause at 1:44 and the highlight which requires powerful vocal only starts at 1:54. He did a good job with the highlight. You are right that Leo is still a rookie at Bowie's side and I believe that he has great respect for Bowie too. But my opinion about the change in style in Bowie's live version is nevertheless true though we may not agree on the effect.

However, I was comparing Loe's live performance with David Bowie's live performance of Cat People on You Tube. Bowie sang this song with a little bit of jazz style which did not mix with the wild passion this song needs to convey. It indicates that his mindset has change to accomodate fans who have become old.

My favorite Bowie song. I have 3 Bowie versions of it, put I cant listen to his live recording as he doesnt give it any sole either.
