HXT900 is what i use for all my foamy builds.. motors i get from rc hot deals or hobbycity...if you bought FMS then it comes with a controller ( us the one that comes with it, so you dont use your batterys on yours. Grats on winning the EPP bullet plane from Foamfighters.
The hobby king motor is slightly more powerful than the Graysonhobby one. I fly the extra 300 and found the only choice to actually be able to fly it straight up and do crazy manuvers is with a 11.1 lipo. It stalls eaisily with only a 7.4. With the hobbyking motor you might be able to get away with a 2 cell lipo.
I'm actually thinking about buying my motor and esc from lazertoyz (just search them on google to find their website.) RCtestflight just baught their bluewonder motor for a small 3d foamy and he says that it is really good. Plus lazertoyz is a US company so I will be able to get better service than from hobbycity. I will still probably buy my 3s 800mah bat and a charger and some servos from hobbycity though.

The combo sounds like it will work fine, 1000 mah 2 or 3 cell lipo is good. hobbypartz website has pretty cheap batteries

Oh and give the prop saver from Grayson Hobby a try, and the Dave Powers breakaway motor mount, great for beginners and EPP foamies.
