there is an easier way to make char cloth same set up but just chunk the tin in the fire and when the smoke stops coming out of the hole take it out and it will be perfectly cooked char cloth
This would not work good if it was raining outside. Think about getting things in your tender box that will work in poring down rain. Just a tip from your friendly Air Born Ranger. The Outdoorsman. Just trying to get you to think.
tinder kit in a snus tin! i thought i was the only one. sprayed mine matte black to kill any glare, but you can use the inside of the tin as a signal mirror of sorts as well. keep up the great work man.
How is the dakota fire hole for smoke? I'm trying different methods of fire to sleep with and I have failed so far. Smoke control is important to me so do you have any ideas? Have you slept beside a dakota? Efficiency?
The Dakota Fire hole efficiently radiates heat upward which makes it extremely efficient for cooking. If you could somehow reflect that heat towards you I think it would do a great job of warming you.
nah..i think i was just over the smoke in he fire a bit..i caught some nice smoke in the eyes a few times & i was tearin up a lil a snotin up a lil..happens most of the time around fire...lol
Good video! Great to combine a nice bit of bacon with making char cloth :-) The Dakota hole does seem to speed up the whole fire starting process, probably due to the chimney effect.
Clothes dryer lint also works extremely well!! It goes up like its been soaked in gas or some kind of excelerent. I now see how a dryer can catch fire so easily!
That's not a "flint & steel." It's a ferrocerium rod.

I love the DAKOTA fire pit. You need to dig a tunnel to your fire pit to make it a true DAKOTA fire pit. Great video though.

Red man makes small fire, cook his food, stays warm. White man makes big fire, burns his food, stays warm by running to get more wood for fire!
