  • Although Montebello high school seems like a far cry today from the era shown in this film

can you name any high school that is? This was almost a half century ago. Demographics

changed, as has America in general. My family went there in the 60's and my

nephew a few years back. It is not a bad school despite the negative press many of the students created for themselves a few years ago. But was that much different than the walk outs of the 1970's? The era of Ozzie and Harriet just a memory

  • I graduated Eastmont Jr. High in 1964 and Montebellon High in 1967. To look at it now...all fenced in because of stupidity!!! Gone are the good ol days and I'm glad I'm far away from it!!

  • I'm a softmore there

  • Wow, this is back when my uncle went to school there! Nice to see a piece of history. :D

  • I love it I went that shcool back from 74 to 77 and to see my shcool back 59 to the 60 was great thank for it do you have one 77?

  • i wish i lived in this time

  • Nothing lasts forever.Amerika had it's Golden Era--the late Nineteen-Forties;gone by the late Seventies.Yeah,Amerika was once a great nation. Our borders were closed--and the Amerikan-Race ruled. But the Communist One-World-Globalists are growing impatient. Why do you think the jew-Globalists have given this Country over to the roll-a-tacos,and the watermelon-suckers?The inferior, failed Marxist races will be ruled easily;once the Blue-n-Blonde intelligent races of Earth have been exterminated.

  • sides, kuz years from now wen r kids r in high school there still gonna experience this crap n for that reason this wold that we live in today, will b the same as tomorrows!

  • All of u put that racist shit n go bak to Mexico bullshit r Fuken idiots n low down animal!! I say that to both

  • go grease lighting wheres danny zooco nice jam where r all the mexicans

  • go grease lighting wheres danny zooco

  • I grew up in the same late 50s era, and I wish this generation had the same opportunities as we did. Things were so much simple and easy-going during that period.

  • @NERDdood88

I'm Mexican too!! But it doesn't mean I have to agree with all the atrocities my fellow paisas commit, nor do I feel I should support either side regardless of color, gender or belief.. Well maybe color, if you happend to be purple or green.. Gotta draw the line somewhere.. :)

  • fucking racist republikkkans - you time is over, your race is dead, not shut the fuck up and bow to your new masters.

  • @GayTexasBoy

Hahaha Our time is still here. Or did you hear that the Dream Act is dead.

I had a lot to do with that move! Go back to Mexico and shut up.

  • im actually attending this school its awesome

  • so many racist fucks i swear, mexicans arnt the only race who go to montebello theres asians, white trash, armenians and all sorts of latinos not just mexicans so all u guys need to stfu already.hating because were dominating haha :)

  • @jooseVV What's with the "u guys, bullshit?" We're Americans, asshole! And by-the-way,...copping an attitude isn't going to get you anywhere. Instead, it'll forever keep you down and second-class. You need to clean up your act, Homie! Oh yeah, one more thing,...learn to spell before you come on here and make a fool of yourself.

  • damn school is nothing like this now.

  • How wonderful the U.S. was then. The best years of my life.

It's weird but everything changed as soon a President John F. Kennedy was

    murdered. For the worse!

  • @ sheep5654, don't be an ediot, it's you! People like you that feel they deserve respect or some kind of prize, or right, just because it's you. Don't be foolish, wasn't it some Mexican kids not long ago that took over that school, took down the American flag, and raised the Mexican flag on top the upsidedown american flag? Google it.. Not all mexicans or south Americans are bad, just you and those like you..

  • @inertiadrft haha youre an "idiot"(learn your language before you use it) you really have no idea what happened that day, and neither do i because i wasnt in that school back then i was at the intermediate school. i dont want a reward, do you see me asking for one? i dont want respect for anything. im not from an immigrant family my family was here way before yours was. and i hope you can recall when youre people where pushing your culture here. remember that? or is that just a blur to everyone?

  • @sheep5654 haha, No! you are the ediot here.. Look, Im not sure what you mean by "my people" in fact, I dont think you know who "my people" are. So your people have been here before my people huh? well, Im not sure what you want, a prize? recognition? like I said, always wanting something.. And I know my language well thank you very much, but do you know you're language yourself? My people pushing culture? all I know is "mi gente" crusaron el oceano atlantico y conquistaron America. u Ediot!

  • @inertiadrft learn to spell idiot, then you can use the word, if you dont try to take it out of context. im not mexican by the way, im mostly native american, and yes your people pushed your culture in the americas.

  • @sheep5654 Look, you should read one of "you're" comments below, and notice that you should learn hot to spell "you're" self! IDIOT! Take what out of context? That I'm calling you out? You replied to my comment, you did not have to, but the shoe fit did it not? So you are not Mexican but "mostly" native American?? So what's the other half? So my people pushed my culture in the Americas? You're people should have defended it better, get over it, grow up, stop feeling and acting victimised.

  • looks like a great time to grow up, especially in CA. I am still trying to figure out what the cause that changed the 1950's into the nation we still call USA

  • This seemed like a great era to grow up in, especially in CA. ( I am only 44 yearsold). I don't know whats going on with all the chicanos, yeah they were there before "Americans" but the native Americans were there before them. The chicanos are only causing others to HATE mexican people and want to kill them, they have a bad way of protesting

  • Wow, this is great footage. My aunt is MexicanAmerican, she graduated from this school in '67 and she herself cannot believe how it has turned into a SHIT HOLE infested with illegal if not mexican trash and what not.......sad.

  • @hiphopbaby83 wow that is sad i can tell you are racist. thats sad how ignorant you are. you do know that not all Mexicans are illegal, most are legal citizens since the manifest destiny (or should i say hostile takeover by the united states). its sad what people would do for land. the conquistadores in the 1400's, the English in the 1600's and the americans during the manifest destiny

  • Omg! I'm an Oiler! wo0ot Montebello rulez! Love ya MHS

  • OMG!!!!....

    This is my school !

I didnt imagine it to be like this back then

  • Message to all the young people out there: Growing up in 50s America, was the best time in the world to be a teenager. Sorry you missed it!

  • @paul73041 it looked sooo great, no worries just fun, better than today

  • BELL GARDENS HIGH BITCHES!!

  • @buterone fuck you ho!

  • Omg this is crazy

    it looks so familiar.!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I am a graduate of MHS class of 1987.

    Frank Loaiza

  • Im a senior and i wish i had attent all my high school yrs, because that high school is very well diciplined starting by the teachers, everything about it is so awesome, too bad im new, such a lonely senior.dammit, and i can hardly recognize the places, from today.dude the school is 100yrs old

  • i go to this school now

i wish every one was friends

  • Great video.

Did anyone who attended the school back then know Kathy Kersh? I always wondered what she was like.

  • I went to Montebello Junior and Senior High school with Kathy. She was an honor student and cheerleader. I never dated her but we talked on the phone once or twice a week. She was a down to earth nice girl.

  • i love this video its so nice and the kids all look so nice and pretty also there style is amazing love it!!!!

by the way what is the name of the song???

  • Wow, how society has changed. My parents where class of 68 and 69 @ MHS, and I was 86. Today you would get almost shot at that school.

  • Yes it has but its not that bad. Worse that goes on is all the drug deals. U gotta go to the L.A. schools where they have random searchings in classes. They have those for a reason. (Those are the ones you can get shot at)

  • @mhs3pointlegend its not bad have you been there today? its really cool! a lot of fun! more rules though and they have fences

  • @piercedbydave um no you wouldnt, actually have you seen any reports of a shooting in that school? its actually a good school. i love it, i have a lot of friends from many ethnic backgrounds. dont be blinded by what happens in the news or the stereotypes that are spread like wildfire. you should be more open minded about the world. get out of your little bubble and explore, or is that too much to ask? we dont have metal detectors, or random searches, we have great teachers though? shocker right?

  • Dude that looks like something out of a Happy Days episode lol

  • wow look at all the white people! too bad its infested with mexicans today!

  • Class of 2001, Great Video!

  • I clicked on the link in the upper right hand corner of this page, and really enjoyed watching that Video Tribute to Kathy Kersh. I'm just old enough to remember her, and how beautiful she was. Hey, she still looks great.

  • Pretty cool video.. even though I went to El Rancho lol. The fashions was cool like the real life "Grease".

  • MHS class of 91 representing...This video is cool. Love the fashion back then, I too bet it was a fun era. My mom was class of 68, uncle class of 69 and my other uncle class of 73. Thanks for taking us back. The school has changed a lot, even from the time I went.

  • this era looked like fun. now if u try to film random people they might look at u funny or put their hand up or shout things. this is soo cool!! :]

  • cool!

  • i see that montebello high has change over the years with a fresh coat of paint and some modernizatiion. CLASS OF 1999 RIGHT HERE BABY

  • This sure is a complete opposite of the video I just saw where the Mexican flag was raised on the Montebello HS flag pole and the American flag below it upside down.

  • I'm a freshman at MHS. It looks like that would have been a great time to go to MHS, now it's filled with wannabie cholos and almost every desk has some sort of tagging on it, except for the new buildings. I love MHS though. Great film, finally a REAL film on YouTube.

    GO CLASS OF 2012

  • My mom went there class of 64

My uncle was class of 63

Another uncle was class of 61

and two others were class of 58 and 57

  • did you shoot the video? were you a teacher or a student? at 1:34 is that your wife?

  • that was amazing. my dad went to montebello high-class of 66. i've been going crazy looking for his senior picture or something to suprise him with can't fing anything!

  • It was the best time in the world to be a Teenager. The late 50s gave us Hotrods, Malt Shops, Car-Hops, Drive-In Theaters, Classic Cars, Classic Rock n' Roll, and Classic "B" Movies. It was a time of innocense, before Assascinations, the Vietnam War, Drugged-out Hippies, and Watergate. We had Two-Parent Families with Stay-At-Home Moms, and the ability to speak our mind, without the Political-Correctness Police slamming us for it. A wonderful Era, never to be seen again. What a shame!

  • dam i wish i went to mhs back in those days... now all u c at mhs are stupid fucking cholo wannabies trying too look for fights cus they have nuthing els to do. GO MHS CLASS OF 09

  • who sings this song? i know it's called venus.

  • Frankie Avalon

  • Frankie Avalon

  • omg ths almost made me cry. i went to montebello for 1 yr, and i wish i would have NEVER left there. i see the campus was so beautiful back then and it is still till this day. i miss u montebello

  • What great memories !! You did a great job matching the music to the film also ! I graduated from Montebello in 1960 - went to Montebello Jr high and Washington Elementary !I recognized some of the girls - Kathy Kersh !! Wow! She was so pretty ! She went on to marry Vince Edwards (Ben Casey) and Robin ( Burt Ward ) and I saw her as Miss Beverly Hills on The Beverly Hillbillies ! Thanks for the memories !

  • that's neat! at what time in the video does she appear?

  • at 1:39 -she has a pink top on- eating something- looking at magazine ( she was probably in it !- she was in several magazines with Fabian )

  • are you in the video?

  • no - I don't think so

  • Great video...Bentley wants me to put it inhis DVD for the reunion...may I get it from you?

  • I wonder how the band room looked like back then, great video. Class of '07.

  • wow i did go to MHS but that was a cool video

  • GO MHS!!!Class of 2010!!!

  • wow it was so nice back then. senior park actually looked like a park, lol. now it just has dirt and some trees...

    -a current junio @ MHS

  • those girls at 1:23-1:24 are going to the s building they look so differnt wow i wish it looked like that now

  • What a great film, but pretty sad discussion. Now I remember why I couldn't wait to get out of Montebello. I'm white, but had many wonderful friends with diverse cultural backgrounds and different religions. At reunions, it's nice to see that some of those who were not white and in the honors classes still made it to college and grad school. The theme song of the film was "Venus" so I assume the film maker was finding and filming girls he thought were his dream of Venus. CMc Class of '65

  • Actually, I picked "Venus" because it was number one on the charts in 1960. And yes, I was very much into girls. And except for 3 buddys I hung around with, I couldn't care less about the guys.

  • @charlestigerman: I'm glad you had some fun over there ;-).

  • girl of class 2010,

OMG, THE SCHOOL OOKS WAY DIFFERENT THEN THIS!!!IT HAS CHANGE ALLOTS!!!I LOVE THE SKIRTS OF THOSE GIRLS!!!!I SEE A,B,& C BUILDING!!!!

  • If you Guys Ever Noticed The "A" building

restrooms both guys and girl the outside entrance has JEW stars :O

  • go mhs, i am class of 08 but my class might have 2 go 2 SCHURR for are graduation dam thats sucks donkey nuts =( but MHS rocks

  • its nice to see REAL film on youtube!

    nice work :)

  • Wow the people on this video should be somewhere around 56 years old. I could ony imagine what they would say if they themselves would see these particular piece of 8MM film. Great memories I would assume.

  • No my friend,...try more like 64 to 65 years old at present. Many of my fellow classmates HAVE seen this film, including those who are in it.

  • Hi Rich..

Were you in the class of '59 or '60??

I was in the class of 1960. I forwarded the link to another classmate and she loved it also.

    Jim Guccione

  • Class of 95 checking in...

  • Did any of you come from Eastmont JR High?

  • Yes, I went to Eastymont before MHS. Igraduated from MHS class of 1960. It was nice to see the video. Brought back many memories.

    What about you???

  • This is a great video! Though it's impossible not to see the obvious demographic change that has occurred. There are good reasons for this, not all of them related to "open borders" either. Notice the date on the video? The birth control pill was introduced in 1960, followed by abortion being legalized in 1973. And thus began the self-genocide of a once great people...All the while to the south, Catholic Mexico grew and grew. Not really all that hard to figure out.

  • Why did this become a racial issue?

Can you just enjoy the video for what it is... a look at the past.

I did... MHS Class of 04

    Go Oilers!!!

  • Originally Named Newmark in 1899, the town was renamed Montebello or Beautiful Hills in Italian at the urging of William Mulholland in 1900.

  • I agree!! All these damn mexicans took over Montebello High school, how dare they!!

Wait! first of all!! Who named the town montebello Anyway? good question...

Maybe the mexicans were here first, before us?

DAMN!!! never mind, seems mexicans were here FIRST!!

  • @inertiadrft yeah dont you remember manifest destiny? dont be so ignorant though its not good for you, and you guys left when a few minorities came. what? scared of a few Mexicans, Asians, and Armenians??

  • I used to love Mexicans before, now I hate them. All they do is want their ugly ass culture here.

    SB1070 Nationwide.

  • @Bandtrip50 you are one ignorant person arent you?

  • Spain was here first. Not the Mexicans. The Mexicans were only here for 26 years, their flag that is. Spain who build the Spanish missions colonized the southwest for I believe over 300 years. The Mexicans like incorporating Spanish history as their own as they know it helps their cause. Don't believe it.

The American Hispanics were half breed American Indians/Spanish. Notice how different they look from Mexicans today? The Mexicans are Spanish and half Mexican Indian.

    They are not us!

  • @inertiadrft Ahhh the good times Ohhh wait i'm only 13 and im a Mexican! Muwhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!

  • even back then Mr.Gallager was old....

sorry that the film was so short guys there was a Scarcity of film.... p.s this is the his Fiat caught on Fire!

  • Come on guys, this isn't a forum for racial disagreements. It's only a retrospective view of an era long ago.

  • Did any of you come from Eastmont JR High?

  • Don't be so quick to blame open borders and illegals. Look back to the start of the bilingual/multilingual era that started in the 70's. You can blame the liberal academics (most of whom were non-minorities at that time) for that. In the end assimilation into the mainstream American culture was severely discouraged.

  • HAHA U WHITE RACIST ARE FUNNY

  • now thats a european infest!

  • Montebello HS... before the third-world, anchor-baby, La Raza infestation.

    R.I.P.

  • learn how to spell green you so-called American..I'm Mexican and i know how to spell better than you.

  • damn, im a junior there and it doesn't even look the same. Only the C and S buildings, and the sign in the front.

  • That was awesome. Thanks for sharing that 8mm. Was Mr Coffman teaching there at that time?

  • That was a great view of the past. MHS 1980 here.

  • Did you shoot this yourself when you were a student?

Very good camera control! Who did the transfer for you? That is also a good job. Where is this HS?

  • Yes, I shot this film when I was 16-17 with an old Kodak fixed-focus key-wind 8mm Home Movie Camera, given to me by an Aunt who bought a new and better Movie Camera. As a sideline business, I transfer Home Movies to DVD. I also edit videos on my computer. "Montebello High" is located in a suburb of Los Angeles, Montebello California.

  • Oh and please don't even bother responding back .I'm done... My parents taught me never

to argue with an idiot. It will get you nowhere. Good day!

By the way sorry for those of you who had to witness this nonsense. Continue to enjoy this wonderful video good job rich31442 Class of 93

  • Who taught you how to spoke? Lol its (I did enjoy the video) idiot.

And you have to be the most mentally challenged person to believe that there were no Mexican's in Montebello back then. Just because somebody posted a 2:22 min video with mostly blond people in it, you think there was "No single Mexican's or Cholo's".

Wow I bet you were heart broken when you were 15 years old and found out that Santa Claus wasn't real. =-(

  • Amazing..class of 98 here. You noticed something? Montebello High School then had no cholos and not one single Mexican around! LOL!! I bet those were really good times. And those ladies are gorgeous...man I wish I lived back then

  • Cool video, my Mom graduated in 1958 from Montebello High ......I was born the same year, oops....She and her old school buddies will get a kick out of this...

would love to see more like this!!

  • Very cool. Put up more old film if u got it. Class of 96' here. The only thing different is the benches are gone.

  • Wow I just had to post this video to all my high school friends.....

    Class of 93

  • wow I am grad 04, and wow I miss MHS. I actually meet two from this class period, it looks like such a different school, yet it seems like not much has changed.

  • OMG! Loved it, Montebello Oilers to the fullest.

  • i loved mhs.

    this video takes me back.

    i miss it soo much.

    class of 06.

  • wow thats mhs

    amazing

  • mhs grad of 2002 and I loved the video.

  • Great video and the right music for it. I enjoyed it. Like a previous poster said, it's interesting to see real people being themselves.

  • I like it and I went to MHS in 2005

  • Quite the contrary, Rich -- not boring at all. We see movies from 1959 all the time, but it's interesting to see real people in their real clothes just being themselves. Thanks for posting this.

  • How very kind of you to say that.

  • This is an amazing film... I lived and worked in the area for most of my life and it is interesting to see how the school has changed. PLEASE post more (if you have 'em)!
