I really like this song as someone said underneath BC is great conceptual album, beside the fact is about lady Di and martin kind of regret it I think it would work if he rearrange the lyrics because the beat is brilliant and works at every level... About the song new Dress of 1986 said Gore later: „I regret this song. At that time I knew few from Lady Di's social commitment. I did not know that she was the only member of the royal house, that was interested to be patron for future AIDS foundations. I did not know that she was against foxhunting. I did not know that she took its three-year son William into the homeless shelters, to show that this is also a part of the country. I did her wrong with this song" (sorry for my bad english)

I suppose this song wasn't really against Princess Diana. She was the unique exception in the royal familly. The song rather spoke against the blind and stupid media, because so many things happend in the world, but for them, the news was "Princess Di wearing a new dress", instead of those things what the lyric saying. (Sorry about my bad english too. :D)

What I wrote was actually a quotation by martin gore and the song is definitely against lady di. but I guess gore was also a victim of the stupid media and maybe young and naive. and there was no wikipedia these days ;-))). Anyway... this song is great and it's even better when you know the story. Its also very honest to admit it was a mistake to write it. but you can't change it or delete it....

Seen them 24th of may 1986 in Ahoy' (Rotterdam...the Netherlands)...is was indeed an Black Celebration with me "dressed" in a white shirt...the only one I think...hahaha...great concert...
