I love how the lead singer is straining to reach that elusive note in "Night of Fear" -- it makes the song sound even more desperate. And I like how each singer has their own style and sound. They must have learned something from Motown.
I'd like to get my hands on some of their guitars. Imagine what they'd be worth today, like the strat that Wood is playing. Some guys from 60's bands held on to their instruments, which ended up being worth huge sums of money. If you see any Les Pauls in these pre-1968 videos, assume it's from the 50's or 1960, because there were no Les Pauls made between 1960-68. And in case you didn't know, these Les Pauls are the most valuable electric guitars on the planet, with 1959's at the top end.
Ihr würdet mir sehr helfen die Chronologie auf zu hellen ;D. Ich habe einige Zeit gebraucht um BBC-Footage aus der Reihe Colour me Pop auf den 4. Januar 1969 zu datieren. Danke für Input!
One of the best bands around at that time. Too aggressive for the hippie culture tho', and probably too melodic and single-orientated to be accepted as a hip/cool rock band. Second thoughts, not 'one of...' but in fact THE best band of the time. Thanks a million for the upload. Shame on the TV companies for never airing these clips.
R.I.P. Carl Wayne 1943-2004. The Vikings (his band before the Move) were good too. The Move became Roy Wood's total control when Carl left the band and The Move were for a big part modified to be the better known Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). A simple band like this one which got overshadowed by its own popularity effect.
The Move had many interesting phases -- Who-like mod rock, flower power psychedelia, heavy rock (eg. Brontosaurus), and of course their later symphonic forays that evolved into ELO.
This is such a great document of this band's brief heyday--they could really pull it off live. What is interesting to me is the approach to the vocals where everyone gets a chance to contribute a lead bit. Also, you can really see Bev Bevan's odd drumstick grip! Anyone know the origin of that??
Saw The Move at Wimbledon Palais, just had to the best live band of the 60's so dynamic and great visually. "Far Out"

Thanks a lot for posting this elodevi. I love the Move's Mod phase. Actually I liked every one of their phases, including ELO.

Pure class. This was out before I was born but not much of the stuff that came out after was as good as this. Brilliant.

So that's what Roy Wood looks like! A truly underestimated musician. Deserves a gong.

The Epitome of Cool. I can't believe they didn't become superstars just on account of the music. They even had the looks to back it up.

With their 4 part vocals, reminds me of Moby Grape-no surprise Move covered 'Hey Grandma' and did a great job. Ace has a great voice!

Brilliant - why does Roy do the Grass grow riff on the 5th instead of the 3rd (as on the record)?
