  • nice i just learned something thanks

  • great vid.

    well done

  • will this still work if your scope only goes up to 9x?

  • What is your job?

  • how much are JSB pellets

  • the pellet containers i use are from gamo and their much smaller but still hold 250 pellets, i just jam those into the ground and use those as targets, and btw who was that toddler in the window? hes adorable!!!

  • wht gun is tht?

  • This is my first comment. I have enjoyed your videos a great deal. Makes me want to get back out and start shooting again. Keep up the wonderful work.

  • my pellet gun says only use crosman benjamin or one other brand of pellets to shoot. it says if you use any other brands you might damage your air rifle. i tend not to question the professionals, but thats pretty rediculous that other pellets would "break" my gun -.- if its the same caliber, i think it would be just fine. this is my only limitation on buying some better made professional rws pellets...or something nicer and better made than the usuals. any thoughts about this would be nice.thx

  • @thebowlzack Bah - that is total marketing b.s (or "lawyers gone wild"). So long as the pellet you buy is the proper caliber, all will be just fine.

  • @EdgunUSA thanks, you're the best

  • @EdgunUSA I disagree. Like you @thebowlzack I too own a benjamin. Mine is the titan gp. I also thought that Benjamin's warning was a scam and bought myself some RWS superpoint extra .22 pellets. I was very pleased with the looks of the pellet, until I loaded it into my gun. In loading, I discovered that I had to push the pellet into the barrel, deforming it a little. But, like an idiot, I fired anyway. The gun failed to even push the pellet out of the barrel. Another shot proved the same results

  • Awesome vids by the way!!!

  • So am I correct in saying that at 12x power, I should make my targets 3 inches even?

  • forgot to mention its a leapers swat 3-12x 44 mil dot scope on a benjamin discovery

  • question: i have a .22 nitro piston rifle thats rated at 950fps with that pba crap, and i shoot crosman hollow points(14.3g) zeroed in (centerpoint 3-9x32) at 50 yards. if i was to shoot something thats 20 yards away, should i have to adjust the elevation? i had an issue with this and its driving me nuts! im assuming the pellet would have a flat trajectory up to 50 yds, so what would you say the issue would be at 20yds?also, at what distance would you say it should be zeroed in at?thnx in advnc

  • @viper2788

ha nvm, your next video explained just that! thanks

  • Hi Dear Sir How are u am Mudusir iam using Diana 56 Air gun ihve Purchase Premium 10- 40 50 scope but am faild to zero premium scope only target to left side whn i try to move right side am faild on target left side am so worried thats is scope fault or my fault plz guide me thx

  • humming bird, funny, fantastic video, as always!!!

  • where is the cheapest place you buy those JSB diablo exacts jumbo heavy .22 cal pellets?

  • what do you do for a living? you have some nice guns and scopes

  • P.S. I luv your vids :-)

  • Are you able to reupload you vid in which you are shooting at the Mil Dot targets?

I live in germany and here its not allowed to watc your vid bcuz of the music in the video-.- Its called GEMA-.-

  • Thia is great stuff. Im glad to watch and learn something new. Please keep it up!

  • The way I learned to use mil-dots was, I gathered a bunch of different things. Got a measurement of how tall they were then sent them down range. Here is another formula I use when not knowing they take up a mil-dot @ 100 yrds.

size of target in inches x 27.778 / mil reading = range in yards.

    10x on scope

    20 oz. Pop bottle - 8.5"

    Mil-Dot reading - 2.25

27.778 is the constant for yardage.

    8.5" x 27.778 / 2.25 = 104.9 yards

Maybe this could be useful. Maybe not.

  • @duane2072 Yes - that is useful. It shows that there is more than one way to skin a cat. You do what works best for you. :) It's all just a bunch of multiplication and division. :) ted

  • @duane2072 can this formula use below 100 yds?

  • @putademuerde2 Well lets say you have a 6 mil dot scope. Do the math. If you are viewing lets say 6 dots on a pop bottle that is 8.5" tall. 8.5" x 27.778 / 6 = 39.35 yards. But you also have to learn how to break it down further when looking through the scope to make any of this useful. You can actually be off several yrds if you dont train yourself right. Also must learn uphill shooting and drift. You must research this to learn more.

  • @duane2072 can this be use then with a rangefinder reticle scope? other than a mil dot scope? thanks a lot i am new to long range shooting.

  • @putademuerde2 I do not have one of those to give you a definite answer. However, I would assume the distance of the bars on the range finder would be the same distance as the mildots. I also would assume there at the bottom of the view so you can use them as a hold over when shooting long distance.. You should have directions included when you purchased this scope. Each scope is different and you have to read the directions for every scope.

  • @putademuerde2 eabco.com/Reports/MildotRep01.htm

  • I think you should try for some rabbits.

  • @urgoobotz Rabbits are coming my friend - you have my word.

  • @EdgunUSA I dont see any rabbit videos :(

  • I can not believe that You use our pellets. I use them too since childhood but in cal. 0.177

  • @PetrFM Everyone uses JSB pellets. :) The Czech Republic molds the best lead in the world.

  • "...or hummingbird... ... just kidding."

  • A very good and informative video... as usual! Thank you!

Can it be possible to use a standard green dot laser with a mill dot scope to get a range? As the laser is zeroed at a higher mount than the scope, the converging lines (scope and laser) would be at an angle to each other. So the laser dot would show at different location in relation to the crossair at different distancese. What do you thing on this theory?

    Regards,

    Franco

  • @francoprs This is a fascinating idea, Franco. I do not currently own a laser. But, you can be assured this project will be on my "to do" list. Great suggestion! Thank you! ted.

  • math it hurts me

  • @900loner Better warm up to it - the future of jobs in the United States and Europe will rely on education (skilled trades); not just manual labor. That has all been exported. Stay in school. :)

  • @crzyrpr LOL - sorry about that crzyrpr!

  • How many pellets have you put through your gun??

  • @Airgunner2123 Hmmmm. You are actually the first to ask me that. I would guess around 10,000.

  • I use a crosman quest 1000x all stock and i use a leapers 3-9*40 ao lr scope and i use crosman pointed pellets. I keep a 2 inch group at 90 yards. I got it for fun. But im slugging starlings at 60 yards.

  • I think it would be beneficial to paint the base or the en tire pellet a bright flourecent orange to better see it in the videos. of course only for pure dramatic effect. I guess it makes it easier to see the flight path as well if you do miss.

    be safe and shoot straight

    -Tyler

  • @AgeOfDarkness94 I've put some thought into your suggestion, Tyler. And, I've begun experimenting with various paints. More to come (hopefully). ted.

  • Who was laughing when u checked ur daughter

  • @ReMinTonNiTroPisToN I think that was the neighbor kid. Or maybe it was a ghost - lol. No one was standing near me. ;)

  • Oh. Thanks edgun. That makes more sense. Im getting better and better because of you.

  • @ edgunusa I have a 3-9*40 scope i always use the 8 mag. Doesnt that mean each dot would span 3.8 inches. Thats what chairgun says. I love that program

  • @Airgunner2123 Nope - each dot would = 4.5 inches at 100 yards (at 8X power). 3.6 inches multiplied by (10x / 8x).

  • Wtf I was at my iphone when I signaled improper.... Sorry don't kick me from your page please.

  • @Elias1441 No worries, Elias, accidents happen. I appreciate your candor. ted.

  • I love your vids Ted. Still waiting for bird watching vid that shows what happens to that european sparrow!!!

  • god blase your forman

  • @yardcontrol Thank you yardcontrol. :)

  • You out-did yourself this time.. great job!

  • so if the average flying rat is 13 inches as stated on a previous EdgunUSA video this is~0.361 yards, and we are looking at it from 100 yards( so in mil dots thats 3.61 dots (13/3.6=3.61)). The maths would be (0.361/3.61)x1000=100 yards. obviously you are not going to get the yardage exactly, because your pigeon isnt going to be 13 inches and you will find it difficult to measure 0.01 of a spacing (if you have a hawke sidewinder tac you can measure 0.2) however it gives a good estimation.

  • This is a good video and this looks like a fun activity to get good at measureing a target using your mil dots. Could you just not just use: (Height or width of target(yards)/ mil dot measurement) x1000= range (yards)? As no matter what size a target you use aslong as you know what its average measurements are you can get a range estimation.

  • @XDUBKORPSX That is exactly right. The formula I made was a simplified version that works only for the targets I made. The formula you posted is the "standard" formula. It's just a little more complicated, and my goal of this project was to keep the lesson as simple as possible. Once folks try this a few times, ranging items of different sizes (and using the formula you posted) will make more sense. I've learned from my previous videos not to overwhelm new shooters with too much math. :)

  • @EdgunUSA Yes i agree that the maths can be a little daunting to someone who doesnt think they can do maths, but i would say it is accesible to anyone who is willing to give it a good try. It can be done on a cheap pocket calculator, and just used as a tool without understanding the background or being able to do the maths in your head. From watching your previous videos which are realy well thought out and well explained im sure you would be able to explain it in a way people would understand.

  • clever

  • LOL, i have unlimited access to 100mm petri dishes, but they'll only last one shot, we toss out hundreds a day where i work, due to "contamination" (i.e. the bag of 20 hit the floor before or after entering the aseptic fill room). nice thing to know about mil-dot scopes, i usually think of MOA, 1 inch at 100 yards.

  • @mrbadx19 Sound like you have a good source of potential targets. Put some duct tape on each side of them and you'll likely be able to blast them dozens of times before they start to fall apart.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... actually, i've never shot at one, but i assume they'd fragment pretty easily, we even have 150mm petri dishes, you can figure out how many dots those are. my casio camera has died unexpectedly, so my slow motion capabilities are hindered. duct tape would make them last forever, but they'd be shiny, paint, i know, i'll have to shoot at a few to see what they actually do when hit by a pellet.

love watching birds through your rifle scope and how they drop ;)

  • cool deal!! great idea!!
