@huglap1 YEP... Video makes you think you can remove the button bar on the right side by prying the clip loose. YOU WILL BREAK the SCREEN!... and guess where you BUY get a replacement screen? CLEVER and BAD way to get business. You MUST remove the screw first and carefully angle bar from under the screw location. to reassemble... you must CUT it OFF at the inside corner (like it is in the video) since you cannot reinstall back under screw location without messing up the ribbon cables.

i ripped the button bar ribbon cable, can i replace it? it seems as i cant open up the small hatch.

There are slight differences in design in the 3004 version.

You can no longer unhinge both clips without having to take out an eight screw, I found out the hard way (a small crack on the upper left corner became a large stripe running down the entire screen) :(

Hey question. I disassembled my psp because after a fall, the sound when I plug my headphones was muted. Of course, when I fully disassembled it, there was no way to actually fix it, but when I reassembled it, there were vertical colored lines across the screen. I tried to fix it again and it got worse. Is there something that I forgot to do? Or did I royally screw myself over?

1. It got thrown 30ft from a 15ft hi and it was pouring outside

2. when i git it back, half of the screen was discolored with a big black splotch on it

3. it doesnt read the UMD and it make a loud "cranking" sound

It's really annoying that my psp 3000 only knows ups and right, how can i fix that? Maybe you'll say i'm stupid but i really need to fix it, it started when i accidentally poured some mountain dew one the arrow pad side, i was totally freaked out when it happened so I removed the batteries, after a while i put the batteries back on and open it up. after that while were having classes, my classmate started pushing the buttons while it's in my pocket, and that's when it started to get to that x(

@gideonmagno unless it's the motherboard you might just need to take it apart and replace the button keys witch you can buy online almost anywhere and in different colors. just make sure that it's clean before you put it back together.

I just got a new psp 3000 and the screen is clearly shifted down. its brand new and theres like a millimeter gap between the screen and the faceplate. the edge of the screen makes rainbowed colors on the screen. could I move the screen and fix it by doing this?

Sounds like you have a line of dead pixels on the screen. Fairly common issue. If it's brand new you're still under warranty. Call them.

the screen isn't cracked on the outside. when I feel the screen from the outside, it isn't broken. But when I turn the psp on, it looks cracked from the inside. and it shows different colors.

Um, a few ways to tell the difference between the PSP 1000, 2000, and 3000 models are these few modifications: The PSP 1000 is thick, and heavy with little groves above the screen, speakers are located at the bottom. The PSP 2000 is slim with a thick silver ring on the back UMD panel, and the front top right corner of the 2000 has a SONY logo, and the front left corner has the ''PS'' logo.The PSP 3000 is slim as well, but has a thin silver ring on the UMD panel. A small hole under....

..underneath the screen, it's a mic. The front top right corner is blank, and the top left corner has a ''SONY'' logo. Instead of the ''HOME'' button under the screen it been renamed to the ''PS'' logo button. But if you still have no clue look at the serial number on your PSP at the bottom of the PSP if it has 'PSP-3001' on it it's a PSP 3000. You can also find the serial number behind the battery too. I'm pretty sure yours is a PSP-3000 because it's the Gran Turismo bundle. Good luck!

If I send in my psp to get the screen fixed will I have to pay extra to get the UMD drive fixed it works just the plastic is cracked so when you try to open it its caught, then you have to push it again for it to open fully.

I am about to ask a n00bish question, but here goes. I was looking at the hardware specs for the the psp 1000 and 3000, and the lcd screen specs are identical. I do however know that the psp 3000 has some sort of screen improvements to fix interlacing issues found on the psp 1000 and 2000. My question is, if i were to pull apart my psp 1000, would i be able to replace my broken psp 3000 lcd with the one from my 1000?

Thank you so much for the great HD video, especially where you release the clips when removing the screen, brilliant! I would not have worked that one out myself. Only tricky bit was getting the rubber surround back around the speaker. I just lifted the screen slightly and just managed to drop it back in before replacing the front cover. Screen replaced and working. Thanks again.

Yeah thats the bit i was tripping on, so thats what it is? For the speaker hey? Was it very hard putting it back in? So what should i do just lift the screen a bit after its installed then try drop it back in there before securing the screen? I've never done this with a 3000 before so your hel is appreciated.

Yep, the rubber 'funnels' the sound from the speaker back to the little hole on the front panel. I pushed my screen back in 'till it clicked then just prised it back up at the top end to allow enough room to get the rubber back down. I don't think I did it perfectly but certainly enough. It is tricky.
