But God or no God, The pure disrespect between atheists and Theists is so negative. You don't have to respect our beliefs, But we are all in this world together. We all have to work, pay our bills, and contribute to society. Can we just put our differences aside ? It seems so pointless to argue religion, when our economy is in turmoil. @Tom6093 you misunderstand something. Actually religion was always used to drive people separately (at will of several). Religion is not for tolerating the differences (even if it might be a line in some religios text about it). It is about uniting people by one faith and controlling them.
In order to unite, you need to tolerate others, and understand them (or at least accept). I have yet to find such a group of religious people....
A friend of mine (an Oral Roberts University alum) and I discussed this very thing. I asked him why most people on an airplane that experienced a catastrophic failure would scream if most people are Christians. His response? They would miss there loved ones. So even though Heaven is pure pleasure and joy, these people would miss their loved ones enough that they felt compelled to scream? And this is what is running through the minds of people about to die in an accident? Well, he convinced me.
@quantumleap7219 Humans, animals, any living mammal will scream out in the face of death. It's called FEAR. You're having so much adrenaline pumping through your veins, you scream out. Sadness is what someone would feel when their loved ones are gone, and in which case woud not have an automatic reactionary scream, if they scream at all. A more normal physical response of feeling sadness would be crying, and not very much screaming. Screaming is FEAR. In this case, fear of death.

he's at total Peace with the hand he's been dealt because of his Christian beliefs.

My terminally ill christian step father tried everything to get better, EXCEPT accepted medical treatment. .... He was part of a anti-science pentacostal flavored christian denomination that taught healing thru daily communion rituals and bible study. They believed that medical science was " putting faith in man, not God"

@valkour22 The idea of a God itself is a being who is all knowing, all powerful, and perfect. A God who created trillions upon trillions of stars, planets, moons, nebulae, and so forth. A God, who is all of these things, one would think, would be a being who is self-sufficient. He provides for all of His own needs. To say a God created life because he was lonely, would be to say he created water because he was thirsty. How can a God be thirsty, or lonely? That would make him NOT a god.

I've known a few Christians that pray so that God can be a little more considerate to a loved one who is having a hard time. Psychologically, that makes more sense to me than praying to have God do what he would do regardless of whether you prayed or not. Praying won't change the outcome, but praying for nothing =crazy

So when jesus says he is the light.......and the way........im guessing he knows a little bit more then we do about the experience after death so hes gunna be the light for us in the darkness after we die and show us the way to heaven scince we wont know how to get there by ourselves much less in the dark, so all hes saying i think is that if you follow him while there IS light, he will show you the way when theres not.....

I think it's interesting that pilots exposed to "greater than normal" G increases/decreases, causing them to rapidly lose blood flow to the brain and pass out, have described similar "near death" experiences when compared to testimonies from those actually dying. This study (which was accidental, go figure) suggests that the "near death" experience is a normal biological function of a dying brain, rather than a literal spiritual experience.

I don't need to disprove a Christian god, because you can't.
But I can't disprove a Muslim god, nor any of most religions gods.
How about your prove him?
I shouldn't believe an incredibly crazy (unbelievable) story just because you can't prove it wrong.
Just prove him then. Should be easy.

Weird I was pretty sure being atheist just meant that I didn't believe in god, at least thats what the dictionary, teachers, and the media said.
