When God fashioned him He got so excited that He took a step back to admire his handiwork, tripped and accidentally broke the mold and that's the REAL reason the world is never gonna see another one like him! :)
Whenever I see/hear Dave Berry sing this I always think back to Alan Price taking the mick out of him in the Dylan documentary that his stage presence/looks/movements were so odd and precise/slow...like a sloth! Price's words not mine!
In the Dylan film Don't Look Back, former Animals keyboard player Alan Price refers to the way Berry performs this song. He imitates his moves and cracks everyone up.
I was a member of Dave`s band in 1979/80, we did not like this version of this song. so we did it differently and Dave was delighted.
We did a session for BRMB radio in Birmingham and they wanted the original version which we had never done and we were there until the early hours getting the sound they wanted.
My big buzz was playing the Adam and the Ants Gig in Leicester Square with Dave. Great Memories
@lyzzyx Really? but they were alll trying to be funky individuals. However he does look like he's from the future pretending to be blend in. Trying not read peoples minds and shit! but still concentrating on the singing.

although certainly stylish for the times, he's not ahead of his time at all for a pop singer in 1966. cant say much for his singing on this number.

@Cetara86 I suppose you'd prefer he'd used an autotune.
routleyd3930 1 year ago
@routleyd3930 Completely agree. Bang ontune music actually sounds even worse. It sounds like a fucking robot, and nobody can relate to a robot.

An absolute cutie who's music was way ahead of it's time! :)

He has a standard "Mod" haircut and polo neck of the time, but he later went into black gear if my memory serves me right.

This guy was WAY ahead of his time. The U.S. must have thought he was weird back in the 60's. Love the outfit. Never heard of him till recently.
