pashtuns are 40% of the population but hold a majority in Government. The last election was rigged by the Americans to support the pashtuns. Why? Because they are more easily controlled by Pakistan. These tribal leaders are most likely not pashtun, which is why nobody in the government or ISAF is asking for their help. Solid piece, just not giving the whole picture. Pakistan wants to control Afghanistan, which is why they haven't pursued the Taliban (mostly pakistani) as they should be.

Most telling; unfortunately, the US government is being idiotic in its approach to Afghanistan and Pakistan. In fact, if they're being focused on at all, the only people who are being focused on are government officials and the corrupt presidency we tried to install to keep the peace. Hah! We'll see how long that works.
