I remember how much I enjoyed my Varese/Sarabande LP when I could manage somebody buying me a copy in the US. One of my all-time favourite electronic scores of the 80's and one of the ones released : (
My favorite movie soundtrack next to The Day the Earth Stood Still '51 of course ;) I mean how can you beat the theremin and a steel guitar in the same score? :D
Fun fact, The Kid is actually Stephen King's son, Joseph Hillstrom King, aka Joe Hill whom we comic nerds know as the author of the critically acclaimed Locke and Key comic series.
I LOVE the ending to this theme at 3:55 which acts as the introduction to "Father's Day", like saying " Presenting: The first segment of all the Creepshow stories, and this is only the beginning!"
Nifty trivia: During the shoot for Creepshow, Stephen King was, of course, on set with his son, Joe. Tom Atkins, the dad in the prologue slaps him in the film, leaving a make-up effects mark. King said that, later, he took Joe to McDonald's and everyone kept giving him (Stephen) these angry looks, since here was this child-beating dad who had "clearly" hit his 9-year-old son in the face. It took Stephen and Joe a while to realize what the problem was.
"Fathers Day" is by far my favorite segment, even though I do love the whole film.. I'd have to rate them in this order - "Father's Day", "The Crate", "The Lonesome Death of Jody Verrill", "They're Creeping Up On You", and "Something To Tide You Over" .. I think the reason I put STTYO is the whole drowning thing.. Icky.. Thumbs up for Lesley Nielson though :)
"Pass those scones, Cass. You're such a hog. You married a great hog Henry, but then I suppose you know that, don't you? Our Cass has always had an extremely healthy appetite."
@myusernameisgood410 Yes, today I am sure everything would be hyper-CGI, but the whole opening when The Creep takes us out of the window, over the lawn, points to the garbage can and uncovers the lid---fantastic opening! I wish director's and companies would take more risks with older fx.
I love horror movies and I have to admit...Creepshow is one of my favorites. This theme song is the bomb!. The piano makes it sound very "creepy"!! Thanks for posting it!! :-)
Amazing! Such a magnificent Piece, fusing modern production and classical playing. I'm glad it's day time, because even the happy part of this track scares the shite out of me!
I want to leard to play this on piano! (So I can terrify my sister while she's sleeping...she has a piano in her bedroom) Can someone tell me where to find the sheet music for this? Thanks much =D
@TheElectricDreamer93 I absolutely agree ! I am 38. And that reminds me many souvenirs for my first horror movie. Then, I start to write many novels while listening to this music. Best regards from Switzerland.
Wow time flies! I still have this album on vinyl! This music was done by composer / Film director John Harrison. Harrison would go on to Direct the Film "Tales Of The Darkside: The Movie" considered to be the "Unofficial Creepshow 3" with King & Romero involved in it. Actual Creepshow 3 was horrible. Big fan of Stephen King & The Director of this film George Romero (Night of Living Dead,Dawn Of The Dead ect.) This whole album was very good at scaring the pants off of Kids trick or treating.
and tales from the crypt was the best horror series and movie too! those are my favorites creepshow comes in second for me but this song is way scarier than the TFTC theme.
all that you mentioned are winners, but I guess those are my 2 faves. other honorable mentions: Fright night, Evil Dead II, Motel Hell, Lost Boys, Tales from the darkside, Texas Chainsaw 2, Pet Sematary, nightmare on elm st, and a million others...
Good choices dude! My top ten favorite are Creepshow, The Thing, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, The Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Evil Dead II, The Shining and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
" Did you see that crap? All that horror crap? Things coming out of crates and eating people. Dead people coming back to life. People turning into WEEDS for Christ's sake?"
I saw this movie when i was 3 on video with my family, first story creeped me out and the cockroach story gave me the chills. The ending was quite creepy too seeing Detective Cameron getting stabbed in the throat by his kid. He was terrific in My Bloody Valentine 3D as the sheriff, he's always a cop character.
@Johnlindsey289 Tom Atkins is the man. He also played a cop in Escape from New York, Maniac Cop, Two Evil Eyes and Bruiser. I saw this masterpiece in theaters when i was 2 going on 3 and loved it completely as it's my favorite horror film of all time.
Agreed. The 2nd one can't tough the original. And I act like Creepshow III was never made. If the Dudelsons were serious about making a 4th, at least have fan suggestions for stories and not the shit they pulled out of their ass.
Very cool man! I can just picture seeing that thing standing outside my window at night. Music kind of reminds me of a murder that happened and they are out trying to find a way to bury the body. lol Great music!!
Awesome music!!! This is one of my favorite horror movies. "That's why god made fathers babe....that's why god made fathers!" At 1:52 when the piano comes in is so chilling and so great. Love it!!
