@Dingle294 first of all Metallica were huge Diamond Head fans read the Metallica Biography, Lars went over to Europe when he was 17 and hung out with Diamond Head and learnt a lot of stuff from them and Metallica used to cover them all the time still do. Metallica then took NWOBHM and just made it a bit heavier and faster creating thrash. Also Korn are were not the heaviest band of there time death metal had started before korn

Diamond Head were a huge influence on Metallica. By what they sound like probably more so than Maiden, Priest, Saxon or Motorhead. And since bands like Metallica and Slayer have been around everything was that little bit heavier and thrashier. So then we got bands like Pantera, Machine Head, Slipknot, Sepultura, Killswitch Engage, Mastodon, Chimaira and Devil Driver. I thank Diamond Head for a hell of a lot of good metal bands existing now.

Metallica didn't steal the songs. They were covers and DH was ok with that. Lars Ulrich actually lived with DH for awhile and admits they influenced him greatly and said way back in the day DH's drummer was his favorite
