  • Well alright! I did two westpacs, and got off the ship in Subic Bay August 1, 1983. I was a 3x6, and did three years in the reserves. Naval Air Station Alameda closed in April of 1997. I went to visit the base a year ago, and all of the buildings are still intact, but paint peeling, and broken windows. But there is a USS Hornet Museum, a golf course and gym for the public.

  • I was on the Shasta (AE-33) from '87 to '91 - We had AE-33 stenciled on the side, so I'm not sure what ship that is, though it does look correct and we were out doing tons of UnReps during this time... Hmm...

  • I remember those Unrep Details... at 2 in the morning!

    Great times!

    1979-81

  • Onboard the KCAOR3 1990-1993, left as IC3.

    Great times.

  • This is cool, my dad was Chief on the fanning. Chief Noonan.....oh yeah!!! =)

  • In 89 I was in the Med. Haven't seen a WestPac since 83.

  • I was onboard the Fanning when that video was shot. I recognize several faces too.

  • The Shasta. 2 years of joy. Anytime/Anywhere unless your XO doesn't want to get shellbacked. Oh well, Hong Kong was fun.....

  • I was stationed onboard USS Kansas City 1985-1990.

Thanks for this video. ex-IC2 Guilherme Freitas, USN
