if you download the .blend file i put in the description and play it in blender, it should work fine. you don't need any additional stuff. let me know how it works or if it doesn't work.
Well it'd be useful to watch them all, but the one on coins is "Blender Tut 21: HUD, scoring and text". Also, I need some ideas for that tutorial I'm going to make. I'm not sure what parts to cover about the maze game.
You do have Blender right? That is meaning Blender 2.49b (that is the newest version). Blender comes with the Logic Bricks, it's not a plug in or extra program. I'll send you a Private Message with more info.
Or I could tell you now. The tutorial is a good idea, I've had 2 requests so I'll make a few tutorials on different parts of the game. The player cube has nothing more than basic motion with logic bricks and a "player" property.
The coin is set up like this:
Collision: "player" ----- AND ----- End Object .|----Message: "coin"
So AND controller is connected to both End and Message actuators.
Also, go check out Hamsterhill's Blender GE tutorial, he made one on collecting coins. His YouTube channel link is included in this video description, or you can just search his name.
Only logic bricks. The python I understand is simple stuff like showMouse, mouselook, and changing an object's location. That's actually all the python I do know.
I got the coins set up exactly how I needed them, with Logic also, then I duplicated as many were needed for that level. I think 25 coins to get the elevator working. Making them individually would take a LONG time.
dude!!!! ur so awsome at blender i wana make a game like omg that is so amezing well done on ur hard work. love you man!!! (not gay) maybe a tutorial on how u made it???
Thank you. Sure I could make one, but if I make a video tutorial I will have to use screen subtitles, I don't feel like talking in it ;-). I could also write a tutorial and put it on my site maybe.
Thanks, and the .blend file. At this point I'm not to keen on putting that out on the net. I suppose I could send you a link of where to download it at. Check your inbox in a while, I should have the file up on Box net.
Just as a reminder, I've switched all of my blender games to .blend files instead of the .exe. It was too much of a hastle to pack all of the .dlls and the .exe into a zip folder. (.blend is a smaller file too) Cheers!
sorry asked b4 the end another quest how do u export the game, tried with save as runtime, then it does not work on a dif computer?? and a got the dlls to
Yeah, File -> save as runtime. It's a good idea to copy and paste the dll's into a new folder just for your games. So save the runtime to the dll folder. Also, GLSL Shading isn't compatible with some graphic drivers. So stick with normal texture (on texture mode too!). You can find that in the Game menu across from File. If GLSL shading is off and it still doesn't work, send me a message of what pops up when you start the .exe game file.
Thank you, it's the first one I've released actually. Any other game I made I either never finished it or it wasn't detailed enough to make it to the net.
how do u make it into a real game

Could you publish the .blend file for lerning purposes?
gkossowski 2 years ago
Good one. I'm just behind you (trying to do my first one game). How you pick up the box? "Child'ing" it, or parenting or what?
It would be usefull during "move that box and build the piramide to go to next level" type game.
"Broken sword" is full of that kind of stuff.
Keep working, we'll waiting for next levels ;-)
