I find it interesting that when you transpose the "Say you'll go out with me" line from the vet's office to Jon's mind, it sounds extremely creepy, like Jon will murder Liz if she doesn't accept. The slow track away from the house after the murder gives the impression that Jon's crime will never be discovered and the neighborhood will live on in ignorance of the psychopath next door.
