  • Best Vocal Performance Ever :O ! But the rest of the band does not follow Jeff..

  • This is how you exploit the ego.

  • My dad's a huge fan of Wilco. I knew and liked a song or two, but wasn't really a fan until I looked through some lyric books and saw that "Took the guitar player for a ride/never once been satisfied/thinks he owed some kind of debt/took him years to get over it" line. Recognized it instantly as "amphetamine" by RFTT and Pete Laughner, and vowed then and there to get to know Wilco. now I'm a fan too.

  • ,whats the song wilco do that sounds like dylans "drifters escape "cranked up.to the hilt with a ripping harmonica .

  • the bassist smiling @ 4:42 is great.. he's like "Tell em Jeff!"

  • The babiest of the the faces

  • Baby face

  • RIP JAY

  • wow jeff looks awful here. vacant stare. glad he got it together.

  • Take the guitar player for a ride

'Cause he ain't never been satisfied

He thinks he owes some kind of debt

It'll be years before he gets over it

  • That's cause Jeff was bombin' on pain killers in that vid...

  • This was back when Wilco was amazing. Jay Bennett can not be replaced... now they just come out with this mellow stuff that is just waiting to be placed in the next Toy Story movie. I miss the real Wilco... the Fillmore in 97, wow. Being There, wow. I think they are still riding that wave!

  • Jeff Tweedy is so weird.

  • Comment removed

  • woah, never seen tweedy scream like that before

  • This always reminds me of my good friend that just hung himself. It's like it was written for him.

  • @Brizzoon sorry about your friend

  • speachlesss... every time ... so great ...

  • this is from Glastonbury festival, UK probably 1994, ive got a vhs of them doing Cant stand it, from this set that i will put on when i work out how.

  • Haha but didn't Can't Stand It come out in 1999, and Misunderstood in 1996?

  • illman76, you are correct. The original album credits are just as you say...

  • Seriously good song. One of Wilco's greatest songs imo

  • Was Peter Laughner given any writing credit for this song?

  • I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like it. 4th verse cribs the lyrics from the 1st verse of Amphetamine & the verse melody is a total lift. Thing is, who ever heard those old Rocket recordings? most of which were never 'officially' recorded. I see it as a rather nice homage, but it would be nice to think Laughner was given his due for the inspiration. Maybe that's the point tho. It's a music fan in-joke. Spot the obscure reference, claim 100 kudos points & go home happy with yourself...

  • illman76, I would rather introduce people to Peter Laughner (great writer!) and Rocket From the Tombs (great band!) than keep things to myself for the sake of in-jokes and some elevated sense of music-nerdiness. Today, you hear a lot of people complain about a lack of good music. There's more good music than ever before (old and new), but it can be harder to find to due to changes in the industry, and when people keep good things to themselves, it doesn't help.

    Just my humble opinion. ;)

  • Hi TCC. I agree with you entirely and think it's a shame that Laughner wasn't credited in what is a fairly blatant lift of melody & lyrics.

  • @illman76 Laughner is credited on the album's liner notes and has been ever since it came out

  • Judging by the fact that no one is dancing or rocking out or anything, it's got to be England or New York.

  • it feels so good but can anybody interpret?

  • @dynamn I know you got a god-shaped hole, bleeding out your heart full soul, you're so misunderstood

  • Jeff Tweedy is absolutely, purely amazing.

  • go, daddy, go

  • wow, calm down Tweedy... haha. Love it!

  • I'm pretty sure it is Glastonbury 1999

  • I think this was Farm Aid 1998 or 99.

  • hahahah farm aid

  • Does anyone know when and where this was filmed?

  • I'd guess between Summerteeth and YHF. 2000 maybe?

  • hey I'v gotta question,

i went to their websit to play their music and it gets ready to play but it wont, does any body know why,

    pleas let me know,

    thanks

  • It doesn't let you listen to the new record any more... all the other albums should play when you click the songs. If not your browser might need a plugin or something.

  • RIP, Jay.

  • where was this?

  • Oh, Jay...I really wish you could've worked it out...that was a great line-up...

  • @40thCapeRifles But if Jay hadn't left we wouldn't have Nels...

  • Live this song has gotten better in every way except that Jeff doesn't scream like he used to, or doesn't want to.

  • Thats what I love about this video. Jeff just goes apeshit, it's awesome.

  • he screamed it on SUNDAY !
