9 years... Damn I am redoing a 83 shrt bed step side already have Rollin chassie done and been workn on it for half year, Also putting built 454 ls6 in her and ford 9" rear end lowerd 4 in
@502c10 no man im not trying to dis on you at all or anything if thats what u wer thinking.i just have no life and do nothing but worked on my truck for the first few months i had it
just wondering how fast you are legal to go with that roll bar setup? looks like 10.99 would be the limit, but I'm sure you're running faster than that now
@black82s10 >> Yes, you are right. Our track actually requires a roll bar with rear down bars at 11.5 but they're good sports about it as the truck has a full cage inside the cab. They have warned me that if I dip into the 10's I will need the down bars. The truck has only gone 11.09 so far. Next year I hope.
@502c10 ah ok. I am building a 68 that should dip into the 9's. I'm trying to keep the sleeper effect going, but those bars running through the back window is usually a big giveaway that something is up. hard to sandbag and make money when you got a cage showing lol. been digging through the rule books and talking to cage builders about any way around it but unless I do a full funny car cage inside, I gotta run the bars. thanks man, the truck is sick!
You got alot of nice peices I like the hoists you got aswell im building a 88 full size blazer pro street bagged and bodydropped with a keith black 588 and trans brake
i like it man, i just done an s10. i ordered my rear frame from sw race cars. i went with ladder bars, with a panhard bar, all strange rear end, 3.50 gears, shocks/coils and strange brakes.. makes a fun project, and a bad ass ride. good luck with that beast engine.
nice job man. I like it a lot. I was reading tha comments and I heard what you told that one guy about a stick shift. Cool. I have a 78 chevy 4x4 with 4speed in it. I'm trying to sand it and get it painted. your truck makes mine look like a joke. You got a bad ass ride. I'm a fan of the wide tires in tha back. wish i could do my 4x4 like that. I bet your truck is funnnnn to ride in too. I like how you got it appearing stock. you can crepe up on someone at a red light.. what model is it?
Out Freakin Standing ....... Simply stated some of the best fab work I have seen in a long time ..... and as far as a pro street goes ...... I think an automatic is the way to go......that automatic is much more consistant for drag racing
@TheTylerTarris As I've already stated it's my preferance, I'm not going to have an argument over the internet on this as I drive a dirty ol Jeep and really have nothing to prove. So I'll just say that yes it's possible to get just as good or even better numbers out of an auto, but that doesn't replace the feeling, the added control, the connection, or whatever you want to call it that you lose with an auto. It's simply more fun and more engaging to drive manual.
@RidX4Ricers you ever driven a truck manual transmission? its got 4 foot throws and is NOT performance oriented. I made the same decision this guy did and support him 100%. So until you have the opportunity to make that decision YOURSELF, keep your ignorant fuckin mouth shut!
AWSOME JOB !!!! keep up the good work i'm right behind ya i have a 84 short bed 502, 871 blown, TURBO 400, & 4link ! frame almost ready for paint and then i can start puting it together and start the body work and inside the cab. awsome!!!! i just love these old pick ups
Please give me all the info you have on all four tires, mostly the fats. I have a 1990 Chevy C1500 with a 350 and I want to put fats like that on the rear with a 1 or 2 inch rearend lift kit.
@thedriver97 >> If you want the fats (i love that) be prepared to tub out the box and rework your suspension. The rear tires for the street are 31-18.5-15 M/T Sportsman on 15x14 rims, the slicks for the track are 32-14.5-15 M/T E.T. Drag on the same rim. The fronts are 225-70-15 BFG Radial T/A on 15x7 rim. The rims are Centerline Convo Pro's with the pro-link (for weight). Good luck with the build and get 'er on here for us to see!!
@502c10 Thank you so much! Why is it that you need to redo the suspension? Oh and one more thing....Did you have your truck pro painted or did you do it yourself? Thanks and keep your girl running like every Chevy should.
@RidX4Ricers >> "gay" and "what a waste"......, doesn't sound like "personal preference" to me, sounds more like being rude. I don't appreciate these comments on my page. You may feel free to voice your opinion, like, "I'd have put in a 5 speed", or "a stick shift would be you more fun", but don't be a jerk.
@502c10 Yeah I know it came out too fast, I can see you've put the time and work into your truck.. I saw at the end you put a nice shift kit in it which sure helps, is it a ratchet shifter or just a regular floor shifter?
@RidX4Ricers You are a joke. I have 2 truck, 63 c10 and a 75 63 is auto and 75 stick. both are strong runners. but the auto is built to run stronger, so your comment is kinda retarted
@mando719 But at least this truck hasa shift kit which makes it respectable as you can keep almost the same amount of control that you get with stick, and obviously theres many applications where a manual simply wouldn't make sense, but I tend to think that performance oriented vehicles should have the added control of shifting your own gears, I've driven tiptronics and found them to put too much computer control over my gear choices.
this is awesome. loving the resto and how much time youre taking. im about done with the motor/tranny rebuild were doing for my 84 stepside. built 350...should be about 410-420 horse, running through a th350...i love being 15 and telling people i built the powerplant for my baby...then beating them with her;)
@GaHVino >> My advice, don't compromise..... take your time, do it right and you'll be happy when she's done. I started this truck in September 2000, still not done, but I'm very happy with it. I could've built something in a couple years, but I would've had to rework a lot of different things. This truck is built the way I envisioned years ago. I like the comfort & safety of the rollcage, it has swingout door bars, so no issues in or out. The cage is from Alston's Chassisworks in Sacramento CA.
@502c10 Thanks man...hopefully I can get some video or a slide show going with my truck progress... And thanks for the advice...I watch this video alot haha You should definitely post more videos man.. A walk around and some tips for builders
that rearend is sick! Nice work all around i have a 73 c10 stepside. Im just finishing up my 383 stroker. waiting for the money for some AFR heads. My rearend is very similar to yours. You'll be runnin 10s easy with a little bit of nitrous.
@Baseballstud5964 >> Thanks. Ya, my brother keeps trying to talk me into nitrous. The internals are forged, so it should hold quite a bit, but I'm chicken :) I'd hate to see $13k all over the strip.
I should go 10's with what I have, still learning a lot about the truck. I want to have a 10 second N-A truck too.
If I don't go 10's next time out, maybe I'll juice her.
The stepsides have a ton of character, get yours on here so we can see it!!
@darokkz >> for now just cut coils and bilstein shocks with 3" beltech drop spindles. i need to get some moroso trick drag springs and some 90/10 shocks, i've heard that shocks from a secong gen camaro work quite well.
I can't wake to see your truck until she is done. But so far it looks awesome. I wish I could drop a 502 or 572 into my chevy lol. But yeah, great luck with the time!
thanks, i needed to get underneath to do the final welds to the cage and frame, one of the tasks i left until the end. i don't have access to a car hoist, but our shop has cranes, so...

November marks the month that I start building my 84 C10...
Should take me a year to build a very nice and very fast street/dragstrip truck...
My question for you man is who did your roll cage? Was it a kit?
And any advice? Im just second guessing a roll cage....
