i played this game and i wil admit it is hard but it just makes everything more satisfying. This game is oozing with substance and charactor whether its the memorable zones, charactors and awsome music. By the way, as much as I would like to play it, I kind of do NOT like MMORPGs as they take away the thing that is most important in an RPG, which is for the person to be in control of the story rather than letting the story control them. I want to know what is going on and then quit at a certain point and pick things back up, kind of like those shows with the "To be continued" tagline on them all the time.

Eh. In his defence (Lord help me), FFXI is NOT for casual gamers and those that are looking for quick gratification. Those that've played easier MMOs like WoW have a slim chance of surviving long in this game. FFXI takes time, and lots of it. It was a bad idea to release this game onto the Xbox 360. The fanbase of the Xbox is one that can't understand how great this game was when it was realeased in Japan in 2002, and in america in 2004. The genre that Final Fantasy encompasses is not one that an FPS/Xbox fan can understand. I played this game for 3 years, the experience was so powerful, World of Warcraft never piqued interest in my mind. I'm sure if this guy played it when i did, it was something of the time.

I agree with you completely. I played the game for a year, had a level 61 DRG/30WAR and I had to quit. You can't even do what you want to do with the game because people shun jobs they feel aren't good enough.

The balance is way off in the game between jobs. The entire game is just one big social event for anti-social, shut in's. It's quite contradictory in reality.

A bunch of losers, who don't have a life and don't have friends forced to communicate with other humans to progress. BIG MISTAKE.

Actually DRG doesn't suck at all, it's a great job that has no real practical use in the game.

Which brings me to my aforementioned point that the job system is extremely unbalanced. Unless a DRG is partying with a THF, their use is very limited.

Dragoons wear Blue armor in FFXI. Originally the armor was Green for Kain in FFIV.

I still enjoyed playing the job. At least I'm not some sheep that plays all the popular mundane jobs in the game. The whole point of an MMO is to play as a character that you want to play as.

Personally, I love FFXI. But this review still made me laugh all the way thru, and in a good way lol. A lot of what he said seems true when you are fairly new to the game. It's true that FFXI is overly harsh on new players, but I think that helps to filter out all the of losers who don't have enough skill to do end-game. Unlike in other MMOs i.e. WoW, FFXI filters out people who have a lot of time, but no skill, so that end-game can be more rewarding. Apparently this guy didn't make the cut...

no need to burn you man, but FFXI is slow like that, it's more along the lines of having fun with friends you make, mostly everyone in FFXI is friendly, if you kept getting with ass holes, just ask, "what am I doing wrong?" and chances are, they will help you play your class better, and also, with that ONE character, you can be EVERY class and change them around as you wish, so long as you have them unlocked, it's really a fun game, I love it, and play on the server Odin, if you play, msg me :)

In ffxi you do not need to make a new character every time you want to level a new job. You do in WoW,but XI allows you to play -any- job on one character. In fact, most of the jobs require you to have your character already experienced enough to obtain them, not making a new one each time. There is also the subjob, which allows even more customability than WoW.

If you have a pimped out lvl 75 Homam/Heca THF and level DRG you ding 75 into a pimped out DRG without having to recollect all that gear. And in the case of the homam and hecatomb sets re collecting it on an alt would be prohibitive to say the least. It can take over a year of doing limbus and waiting your turn in line to get a full set of homam.
