  • How could anyone dislike this song?!

  • What's the spring-breathing jasmine and rose What's the summer with all its gay train Or the splendour of autumn to those Who've bartered their freedom for gain Let the love of our land's sacred rights To the love of our people succeed Let friendship and honour unite And flourish on both sides the Tweed No sweetness the senses can cheer Which corruption and bribery bind No brightness that gloom can e'er clear For honour's the sum of the mind
  • This song is amazingly beautiful! You can just cry listening to it. This is the kind of song I would want on my funeral.

  • I love this song. It is so amazingly beautiful to sing and hear.

  • This is the music I put to 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish - Douglas Adams' in the scene where he is with the beautiful lady in the sky.

  • This is the best version of this song.

  • To me.....this is Mary Black at her best. Beautiful, beautiful vocals and just lovely instrument arrangement. Later it seems like some of Mary's albums became very overproduced and lack the purest of vocals and arrrangements as this song and "Song For Ireland." Not that her later albums aren't good, they are, but I just feel that this song and some of the earlier material is Mary at her very best!

  • beautiful mary. truely beautiful

    cheers fabian

  • Lovely!!

  • @arleisonarcos The title refers to the River Tweed, which marks the border between Scotland and England.

  • Very beautiful song!
