  • where do you get the drawed charakter? do you draw them by yourself or are there special people who do it for you?

  • It looks so easy... but for me, it will always be a big PAIN in the ass :-(

    I've been drawing since my 3th hehe, and believe me, that's a really long time, but I wanted to try 3D Animation..

  • @2DPolygon well what is stopping you my friend :D All u need is to install the software and grab some basic tutorials to get u started and after that is easy :)

  • you should check "marking menus" I can't model without them now, instead of goign thru menu's or clicking the buttons in the tabs, you create your own menu for the tools you use for modeling :)

  • no no no u can have 5 sided faces and triangles and NGons if u like but it's not good for deformation or let say u are goingo to import the model in some package like mudbox or z brush to sculpt and then u gonna meet with the problems. Actually zbrush is a bit more relaxed when these things come to play but if u try to import model in mudbox tha has 5 sidet faces you won't be even able to sculpt it's going to say hey u got unclean model get back and fix it :D. So you should keep clean geometry.

  • I just started learning how to use Maya literally 4 days ago, so your video taught me a lot. :D I guess with a lot more practice, I can be as good with the extrude tool as you. XD

  • so say if you wanted to clothe this guy, would you make a seperate ncloth object, or would you have modeled the character with clothes already?

  • @Scoobydu101 well to cloth the guy you need to have a cloth right ? :D, so you can model cloth object from primitives or you can duplicate the body and make a T-shirt of it for example :) so then you convert that object in cloth object and body to pasiive and do the simulation :) so you have to model the cloth this way or onother.

  • No no those are polygons I just press the 3 button on maya 2009 and you have a smooth mesh preview .

  • well to weld points together I use the MERGE VERTEX option in maya, and about the music if you believe I have no idea how the name is :d

  • I would probably ask the one who give me the reference I'm I allowed to change the design a bit to make it functional for animation and if he agree i will change it if he says make it exact as the reference i will do it like that , cause he maybe doesn't need animation just the model. It, depends of the purpose of the model.

  • So, here's a question. If you get a model sheet to create and it doesn't work anatomically (such as the arms in this alien), would you change it in your model to make it work, or stay faithful to the design? Having some issues, as my teacher is kind of letting us run wild with our creations....

  • im not sure which software to use once i get my new mac, Carrara or Cheetah3d. ive used Carrara before & realy liked it, idk about cheetah3d yet

  • You can search Google for character blueprints. This particular character was developed in our company for modeling exercise, so it's free if you want send me an email I will send them to you. all best Darko.

  • yea when you are modeling you can and will came in some situations with issues but the point is to find solution for that, and if you do so then you should be proud. If someone would like to try to model this little character send me an email and I will send you the reference photos. ALL best. Darko

  • a fine bit of modeling. It looked like you ran into an issue at the neck and when you attached the arm, but I saw how you handled that...good stuff all around, be nice to see it rigged and some animations.
