  • I love this show, and this particular song is one of my favorite musical numbers! I noticed from some comments that some people hate that family used this song, but have you not noticed that Seth is clearly a musical theatre fan himself? Would love to see a little shop episode of glee too, that would be awesome!

  • I love how materialistically 50's this scene is! Oooooh, a toaster, I'm so happy!

  • 2:14 ITS SO SHINY I CANT STAND IT

  • I love how the ending sounds like "Part of Your World."

  • Lol! I heard this song on Family Guy earlier today.

  • the rooms of parnets are next to room of the children?

    Good to know! ^^

  • This movie was my childhood... I always wanted my own little Audrey II xD

  • @DuchessGloom Ugh me toooo! I'm Audrey in my school's version now! I want a little Audrey II just to have :)

  • 4:03 INVISIBLE CHEEZEBURGER!

  • @KittyHawkman what?

  • Watched this movie a million times when I was a kid, really need to check it out again...

  • The song changes at 2:00 to a song know as 'up where we belong' XD Couldn't resist...sorry... :P

  • That is so cute!

  • @donjobs you do know that Family Guy was parodying this scene from Little Shop of Horrors, right? And that the musical Little Shop of Horrors is almost 30 years old?

  • @donjobs you dumb retard.. get more knowledge...Family guy rippedoff from Little Shop of Horrors.... idiot.

  • i admit i just skipped through the opening minute.

  • I often listened to Ellen Greene way before Family Guy. I actually have to hear her voice sometimes. It makes me feel better. Thank you Ellen for all you've done!

  • @2curious2us Me too. This song actually makes me cry.

  • how does she sing like this!

  • I saw this movie when i was like 5 years old and when it was on family guy it took me so fucking long to try to find out where it was from and I finally remember now haha

  • i hated the fact that they did this on family guy and not on glee, but get over it guys this is just plain a good song. ps. that is her real voice. she was on pushing daisies and she sounded just like that. also this is a pretty comic song. stop taking it so seriously.

  • Stop fucking hating. Yeah I watched it on Family Guy, and I liked the song and that's why Im here. Grow up for fuck sake, get some perspective insted of blaming people for liking it, if you don't like the show - fine, no one gives a shit, but don't blame the show for something. Seth Macfarlane loves music as much as you do, and thank god that he actually have the power to make kids nowadays remember stuff like this. Cuz c'mon, how many views do you think this video would have without Family Guy?

  • I wish she'd decide whether to use a character voice or her natural voice. It's really jarring when she switches. It would be so much more beautiful.

  • Oh Ellen Greene, you never fail to make me gag. I love this song but you sound like an 80-year-old with a marshmallow stuck in your throat.

  • @Kehdiri that's...kinda horrible.

  • @Kehdiri omg, ellen greene played audry? i had no idea!

  • this is a very beautiful song! with a gorgeous melody. for some reason i feel happiness and sadness at the same time while listening to this song

  • Lol it's Lady Gaga XD

  • Oh dear god youtube please don't take down my videos.. pathetic how we have to beg now for our videos to stay up.. boo fucking hoo

  • I love this movie, this show and this song. But what... What kind of cast is that?

  • "...a russian in the dryer..."

  • Never could stand this stupid movie. Came here only because of Family Guy. HAHAHA.

  • How about thumbs if you loved this song before or after seeing it on family guy..and think the family guy parody is funny..and your not going to shit your organs all over this video because family guy made a parody of it. It's not like it was even taking the mick out of it. Just grow up people.

  • Thanks for taking me to diner mr herbert...

  • I first saw this when I was 9. In my school Glee Club. lmao.

  • how do they have children if there in seperate beds?

  • @TheOman1666 telepathy

  • @TheOman1666

It's a reference to TV shows in the movies in the 50s and early 60s. Network regulations wouldn't let TV shows show anybody (even married) couples sleeping in the same bed. It makes sense since she is imagining their ideal life as like out of a 50s sitcom.

  • this song always kinda creeps me out since i saw it on family guy :p

  • I WISH I COULD WEAR A PUFFY DRESS LIKE THAT ON A DAILY BASES!

  • Family guy lol

  • like this if you were brought here by the love of musical theatre/films an not some dumb show that makes fart jokes every two minutes.

  • @crimsonbeauty9 Okay!!! We get it!!! You don't like the Family Guy reference.......Seth McFarlane may have a crude sense of humor, but he brings light to a lot of classic oldies....you can tell he's a fan of Little Shop of Horror

  • The broadway version, vocally, is far superior. However -- Ellen Greene is, was, and will ALWAYS be Audrey to me and millions of others, squeaky off-pitch voice and all. And while many great broadway performers have portrayed Audrey over the years, Ellen actually WAS Audrey.

  • @jmberg627 Maybe, but I prefer the movie here MUCH better. Ellen Greene's version of the song is definitely my all-time favorite, plus the way it was arranged in the movie version sounds better than the Broadway version to me.

  • She needs a wake up call

  • @markbundles2 which scene? The pan out? Thats a cool fact! I'd like to know which scene so I could try to notice.

  • LOVE this song!

    Interesting fact:

The panning crane shot at the end of the song was so long, that they needed 2 cranes, one on top of the other, to complete the move. They faded the shots into each other so you wouldn't notice.

  • I'm not the only one who noticed the strong anti-commercialism themes in Little Shop, right?

  • it'sa ctually a really sad song :'|

  • This song always makes me bawl like a baby for some reason

  • LOL i love how she says "On a big enormous 12" screen"

  • I saw Pine-Sol at Walmart a few weeks ago and I randomly started belting this out in front of it.

    Don't judge me.

  • family guy ruined this for me....

  • honestly... Family Guy drove me here

  • The Real question is how many people know what an Ironing Machine is and it is not a simple steam iron fyi

  • Like if you were brought here by the love of the show and not by a creepy animated perv on Family Guy. -_-

  • @emopinata12345 i was the dentist in a school production once lol its one of my favourite musicals after sweeney todd

  • @emopinata12345 sry lol had to see where it came from!

  • @emopinata12345 What if I come here fairly regularly for BOTH my absolute love of this movie, and the creepy perv from Family Guy?

  • @AntiChristAntiFail Then it's somewhat acceptable. haha

  • @emopinata12345 ...This was on Family Guy? I'm offended.

  • @ilovelibertyTYC I know, right? :)

  • Haha family guy brought me here xD

  • Chris and old pervy man LOL

  • holy shit harley quinn voice =)

  • hahahaha i just keep thinking of family guy....oh i love that episode

  • I know these jokes are passe and dumb but I can't resist :

    17 Feminists watched this. :P

  • @FluffyFooFookins agreed

  • I want that dress!!! And LOVE the DIVA "arm cast"!!

  • Is ironing machine a iron?

  • @Emimi33able yep

  • @Emimi33able an Ironing machine was/is kind of like a giant press like you would see at a dry cleaner

  • I like how she goes from her amazing voice to the "baby" voice.

  • is it just me or does it sound like she's gargling shit

  • I love her singing voice, it's so good, I get the chills:)

  • who dreams of plastic on the furniture xD

  • @khalifisrandom Plastic on the furniture was all the rage in the 60's. In fact, my grandma rocked plastic on the furniture well into the 80's! Probably because of all of us horrible grandkids running around she didn't want it to go out of style... LOL

  • Why is there bird poop on the little sandwiches?

  • "The Kids play Call of Duty"

lol see what i did there?

  • My schools play was better than the actually movie!

  • @Samanthac24 sorry but I doubt it, nobody can top steve martin as the dentist

  • thumbs up if family guy brought ya here.

  • 3:28 "time to play a little "howdy duty of our own" *winnk wink*

  • I have come to a conclusion that Audrey is a stoner.

  • haha 2:52 big enormous 12 inch screen

  • @seun0203 I swear it SOUNDS like she's trying to be funny.

  • Ellen.... you're fantastic

  • Far from skid row, I'd love to go, somewhere that's Green!

    I Love this song!

  • I love how she treats the toaster like it's made of gold.

  • 2:12

    Caressing the toaster XD

  • For some reason, the Family Guy version is just so much better. Herbert sounds much better haha

  • @robotfreshpies listen to the broadway version. you"ll never listen to the family guy version again, its that amazing

  • Family Guy is so much funnier now that I've seen this.

  • One of the best musical films that were ever made.

  • I definitely heard "Somewhere Bat Free" before I ever heard this one! wow I'm a super nerd

  • At 2:15, is there a stalker watching her from outside the window? Herbert?

  • @nivekx nope. Quagmire because what would Herbert want with a woman?

  • ...Dammit family guy! I just think of Herbert in a wig!

  • do people really live like that?

  • @army7989 Jeez I hope not. If they did I hope it's back then, because I could not live like that today! Heck I didn't get out of some of my college classes before 9 pm, so imagine a bedtime at 9:15!

  • tupperware. nice.

  • when i first watched this my arm was actually in a cast! coincidence or what?

  • 17 people need to be eaten by a mean green mother from outer space!

  • I love ellen's voice at 2:40-2:50

  • 17 people don't live Somwhere that's Green..

  • you know...as many times as I saw "little shop of horrors" I NEVER noticed her arm was in a cast.... :/

  • thumbs up if chris griffin brought you here!!

  • Is any one else getting a "Little Mermaid" vibe from this song?

  • @chantalalexander that's alan menken for you....

  • @chantalalexander

Well, the guys who wrote the songs for Little Shop did write songs for Little Mermaid, so I guess you could say that there's a bit of a connection.

  • @chantalalexander absolutely, I can hear, "part of your world" in this number.

  • @pricefan2007 because both songs were composed and written by alan menken and howard ashman. Now try listening to Sal Tlay Ka Siti (Book of Mormon) It's by a different composer/writer but obviously a homage or parody or maybe a lampoon of these songs- same theme, the grass is greener on the other side They're all brilliant by the way.

  • for some reason i laugh at the bum passing by

  • I can only think of family guy when I'm watching this

  • What's an "ironing machine"?

  • @truthsmiles seriously?

  • @wilky1189 yeah, seriously. I'm assuming she means "iron", but have you ever heard anyone call it an "ironing machine"?

"Hey, sweetie, can you go in to the hall closet and grab the ironing machine for me?"

    See? It sounds crazy.

  • @truthsmiles it's just lyrics... they needed something that would rhyme.

  • @Iamnotimaginative *sigh* nevermind - I guess it's only funny to me

  • @truthsmiles An iron. You know, those things that you use steam to flatten your shirts and pants.

  • Audreys so cute and a god honest hearted person, all she wants is a nice house... somewhere thats green :-)

  • @ThornoftheRose1993 ahh, if only every girl was as sweet and simple :)

  • my mobile has a 12 inch screen lol

  • There's something in the sincerity of this song that brings a tear to my eye.

  • what movie is this

  • @witch26071 Discription. Retard.

  • @KrazyKlay135 Yeah I saw it a few seconds after I typed the comment. I just don't understand why you have to be so rude.

  • @witch26071 if you saw it delete it.

  • @KrazyKlay135 wWhy are you sooo ugh!

  • @witch26071 Why are you sooo teenaged girlish!

  • @KrazyKlay135 Um you're the one being bitchy about YouTube comments.......

  • It's funny how all her wants are so modest by today's standards

  • The little animated bird might be an addition to the American Dream that most of us don't quite share, haha.

  • ...are you dead?

  • now, I understand that parody in family guy XD

  • I enjoy Ellen Greene singing this, but I just can't take my mind off the Herbert version. It's so creepy it's funny.

  • @VGAfanatic : What's the "Herbert" version and how can I look it up on Y/T? Thanks!

  • @SordidGuy The Family Guy version of it. You might have a better time searching "Somewhere that's green herbert".

  • @VGAfanatic ikr!!! its just soooo ridiculous!!

  • Anybody notice the similarity between this song -- both its intent and, near the end, its phrase and melody structure -- with "Part of Your World", from Disney's "The Little Mermaid"?

  • @comfyactor That's because it was written by the same guy. Good ear!

  • @comfyactor That may be so. Perhaps Disney was a fan of Little Shop?

  • @comfyactor Does the name Alan Menken clarify the reason to you?

  • this was a great movie, even the REALLY creepy scenes were good!

  • No doubt about it, this is the BEST version of "Somewhere That's Green!"

  • Anyone else think the opening verse sounds like something out of Twilight?

    "I got a black eye..."

  • so sweet, so nice!

  • omg i know her she was Vivian in pushing daisies, i reckognized her by her voice, it's unique. aw i miss pushing daisies...

  • haha, thumbs up if family guy brought you here

  • Frank Oz loves this musical number called Somewhere That's Green and Suddenly Seymour. I mentioned about the movie that I got from Santa as a Christmas gift on DVD to my therapist,Barbara Devaney.

  • o so this is where family guy got that Herbert song from.

  • @CUF17 yes lol

  • @emilyfinkelstein9 They do. XD Haven't you seen the show?

  • SEMI-sadist!?!? Hate to see what your idea of a fuul blown sadist is Audrey

  • My god...Tupperware parties? 12 inch screens? Two beds for a married couple? See how the world changes so drastically!

  • THIS SONG IS SOOO BEAUTIFUL

I OVE THE SONG AN HER SHE IS SOOO TALENTED

AN LADY GAGA REALLY WISHES SHE COULD SING LIKE THIS

  • little shop of horrors kid.... its very old but a major classic

  • whats this play about?

  • I don't know why but my favorite part is her expression when she sees the toaster...lol

  • haha herbert!

  • this song sounds like "sometimes when we touch"

    i love it though

  • somewhere that's Greene!!!!!

  • I'm singing this for my audition for Little Shop of Horrors next week :D I'm so excited my school is doing this musical

  • truly amazing. Ellen has set her sights very low in this wonderful song and she sooooo appreciates the little things. What a beautiful voice, she is wonderful to watch and listen to.

  • No, matboy, its a great song and a wonderful voice.

  • Ellen Greene sings like an elf.

  • good song, weird voice....

  • Anyone who doesn't like this song needs a slap. This was a beautiful song, just like somewhere over the rainbow by Judy Garland.

  • What's ironic about this song is that in the original ending, Audrey and Seymour get eaten by the plant, therefore ending up "Somewhere that's green"

  • @AFL489 Sadly, that was too sad for American audiences, so they changed the ending. Unfortunately.

  • @AFL489 I do believe that only Audrey is eaten and that Seymore throws himself off of the roof of a building.

  • @80NZ0 The original ending is on youtube (in black and white) and in it both Seymour and Audrey get eaten and then the plant takes over the city (and probably the world)

  • @AFL489 it's actually part of the lyrics in the reprise

  • @AFL489 My school did this show, and that's the ending they did. I loved it so much, and was thinking about that irony. I'm watching this film version now for the first time, and I'm kind of sad now knowing that they didn't keep that ending. Why'd they change it?

  • @HaruhiIzumi you can find the original ending online but its in black and white

  • @AFL489 accually i watched it on n
