She really did go through a lot.. .even then. She had to kiss that guy on the mouth on TV why? Makes me think things happened that we may never know and it drove her through such a life as hers.
Wish she had remained young and innocent instead of letting drugs and alcohol solve all her problems. People, everyone can be learning life lessons from the deaths of these great stars like her and all the others dying from abuse. The heart can ONLY TAKE SO MUCH before it crashes.
she was very beautifull back then....clive sure was kissing whitney as if she was his girlfiend,he's old, she's a young attractive girl,i was just wondering if he ever had that type of relationship with her.
I thought (and I'm sure) it was on the 'The Mike Douglas Show' a local talk show out of Philadelphia when his show was on the air back in the day. I could be wrong. But how could forget a voice like hers? I can't.
@spotme21 It is the Merv Griffin Show, not Mike Douglas. I truly miss both of these shows--it was back when TV was great. Not the worthless crap we endure now.
Such a beautiful voice. You could tell from this performance she was going to be a major star. I hope Cissy and Bobbi will watch this whenever they're sad bc it will certainly make them happy. Watching it now makes me sad. Too bad God plucked this lovely flower way too soon.
You're homw where nothing can hurt you Dear One. Now You can see from there how much You were loved here. Until we are all together again on The Other Side, heaven can be graced by no more beautiful a voice than Yours.
@MizzCDiVa You are correct by 100%. But God didn't put us here destroy ourselfs with drugs and alcohol either.. Don't get me wrong I'm not casting the first stone I just know for sure that it's somewhat insane to claim that God and Jesus love you and at the same time just keep on destroying yourself.
@boxingin You have no idea what God's purpose was for Whitney to be able to experience what she did. One hundred million addicts may have given rehab another chance after seeing Whitney. Nothing in the world is without the hand of God.
@2Basham1914 Amen! Well-said...God uses everything for all of our good. Someone is a sacrifice at times...Well said my sis...So true!!!! Unknowingly, there is purpose in pain. RIP Whitney. She will be missed though :(
There was......Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mahalia Jackson, Nina Simone, Josephine Baker, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Phyllis Hyman, Anita Baker.........and the last of the GREAT Female Vocalist.......Whitney Houston. We are at a End of an Age.
I was born in the year 1990.. Whitney was the voice I always heard in the 90's. She to me was the 90's. No one can replace her. I can already see a movie in the making about her life with either Jennifer Hudson or Beyonce' playing her. But they will never be her.. God Bless you Whitney
i don't know why someone with such a innocence and church background get herself to such a darkness that eventually destroyed her career and life. I really feel for her but it was her choice as she had said...
@tealeh2 God's ppl arent exempt from trials and tribulations. You never know what she was trying to escape...God still used her though and that's the bigger picture! She dedicated her life to entertaining others...

There is no if, ands, or buts, you are number one. You will always have young girls of all races trying to reach the peak, but until then, you are number 1. You will be missed golden voice and lady.
This is where Whitney beginning to let all the people knows about her. Though she looks a little shy at first, her spirit of talent soon take over herself and perform the song astoundingly well. So sad we never see her and hear from her again, God bless her and her family!!
What a great tribute to Whitney's faith. She wasn't perfect, neither are we, but her faith was strong. Her body was weak but rest assured her spirit was strong. Cissy Houston you were so right to bring Whitney back home :-). She's in Gods presence now and singing with Gods Choir, there is no more pain & no more suffering, She's healed in the name of Our Lord God. Rest in Peace Nippy, We'll always Love You!
No u are not alone. Not at all. It's hard to know that Whitney was special. Everything about her
was special. Those who wish to condemn are the very one's who need to readdress their
understanding of God. In the end, I believe, one see's as one lives. If you live a life and are honest with yourself you know you struggle. God is not about walking a perfect straight line.
If he loves you in light, he'll be with you in dark. She was the greatest singer. Also human.
I still cannot believe I'm currently watching her funeral. Gone too soon...Rest in Paradise Whitney. You are God's own no matter what people say. They have no idea what your relationship with God was like.

I have cried a lot of tears for Whitney. I feel as if I've lost someone I truly loved. I am not a celebrity monger. But she was so disrespected and shat upon by haters who would show nothing but foulness and hurling judgement in the form of the most mindless and heartless insults.
I loved her more when she faltered. I always saw her fight. Fall and get up. That is what I do.
That is truly life. It has made me sick to see it continue after her death. But I know that
@nosnayack And I have learned two things in my life now, love urself and ignore haters, and also Live ur life making decisions that are what you choose to make right or wrong, such that 5years from now when u look back u'd be happy that u made the decision that u wanted to...Wish u d best
its to slow to my liking!! dont get me wrong i ADORE and worship the ground whitney walked on but this is too slow... an dim not bashing whitney her voice cause she nails it.. once again!!
She shoulda played Dorothy in the movie... she was twenty times better than Diana Ross and Stephanie Mills, although both of them are also gr8 performers, their voices don't hold a candle to this beautiful angelic voice... RIP Whitney, the world loved you and will miss you, and we will always remember your beauty, talent, and love.
That man who kissed her on the mouth is Clive Davis and he is the one who discovered her and helped her record her first album - they were very good friends throughout the years.
@Dortmunderstrasse He didn't actually discover her but that's the story they ran with. It was Arista A&R director Gerry Griffith who brought her to the attention of Clive. They always try and rewrite history, just like when they used to say that Diana Ross discovered The Jackson 5, when it was Bobby Taylor.

Adults need to grow a pair of nuts and just say no when offered up a line, especially if you have a CHILD like she did. Irresponsible parent.
This is how a REAL PURE voice should sound. No autotuning, technological enhancement, digital alteration, whatever else. Even musical instruments now make sound better with a push of a button. Real music died with icons Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.

I wish Clive could have protected her more. He seems like he cared a great deal for her. But you can't protect somene from everything in life. She grew and made her own decisons.

Most importantly she could also could have left that relationship with her voice and more of her sanity, intact !! and could have gone on to sing more beautiful songs!!
The host or presenter was hit it on the mark....."Woah....We wont forget that name Whitney Houston" .....Awesome performance and so young as well...shows you the influences of her Mother, Dionne and Aretha...
It's such a shame, but i'm wondering. Was it really bobby brown's fault? Because i know when i started drugs, the curiosity was there already and i found it on my own, but on my "career" as a drug addict, Many people introduced me to many things, I don't really blame them because i was seeking it. So it could've been anybody.
I WEAR BRA S AND DRESSES PLAY GUITAR AND SING HORRIBLY ABOUT ALL NEGATIVE THINGS THAT HAPPEN IN OUR LIVES MAKE ME A FRIEND AND ENTER MY WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT FOREVER U BORED FUCKS SAYS JAVON HUNT ON YOUTUBE
My goodness...Heart gripping :((( What EXCELLENT talent this young woman had...Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!! We love you! You are HOME now baby girl...We MISS you!!!!!!!!!
Watch the heartwarming and inspiring musical video of WHITNEY HOUSTON as she sings "One Moment in Time" in Tribute to 5,000 orphaned and disadvantaged kids at DISNEYLAND for the MICKEY MOUSE 60th Birthday Celebration. See it today on the SurfsUpStudios YouTube Channel.
As sad as I am that Whitney is gone, I take comfort in knowing that her music and videos will live on forever, so future generations can know one of the greatest voices of all time.
Tis is how she should be remembered at the start of her career beautiful poised and so talented.Icant belive shes gone im stunned we will NEVER See HER LIKE AGAIN. Forever Whitney.
It's an ugly business. I mean son many great artists fall and nobody asks why. I am no expert, but I don't think drugs are the cause, they are just a symptom how showbiz can ruin a life.
@gotchewz Ask Adele about 'the business'. If u have a good head on your shoulders, it won't wreck you. Can u really ever see Adele doing a line of coke on the bathroom counter? never.
@gregjeans2000 i could. You don't know Adele from adam's house cat. Who the fuck do you think whitney is? She never set out with the intention to ruin her voice and end her life. I do think she was an adult who could have made her own choices but NO NORMAL person will ever know the pressure that people like her, MJ, Marilyn, Elvis, and god forbid someone like Adele who is approaching their level of fame go through.
Rest In Peace Whitney Houston. So sorry you had to go this way but so grateful you were here...I'll always remember the way you moved me with your amazing soul which made itself heard through your beautiful voice. Thank you Xx Love.

It's an ugly business. I mean son many great artists fall and nobody asks why. I am no expert, but I don't think drugs are the cause, they are just a symptom how showbiz can ruin a life.
gotchewz 3 weeks ago 13
@gotchewz well said
MrFuckouttahere 3 weeks ago
@gotchewz Ask Adele about 'the business'. If u have a good head on your shoulders, it won't wreck you. Can u really ever see Adele doing a line of coke on the bathroom counter? never.

DCfan4life 3 weeks ago
@gregjeans2000 i could. You don't know Adele from adam's house cat. Who the fuck do you think whitney is? She never set out with the intention to ruin her voice and end her life. I do think she was an adult who could have made her own choices but NO NORMAL person will ever know the pressure that people like her, MJ, Marilyn, Elvis, and god forbid someone like Adele who is approaching their level of fame go through.
